1 / 6 Our bike day trips • 65 € per person • 75 € per person E-Bike Fully • 95 € per person • Min. 2 persons to max. 7 persons Portela - Fajã dos Rolos After a short drive with the minibus we start our trip at Faja dos Rolos. We follow the trails through forests filled with laurels und eukallypti. On many occasions we have a wonderful view of the highest mountains in Madeira. Along the Levada we ride to Camacha and from there with a rapid descent back to Canico de Baixo. ⌚ ca. 4 h. ⟷ ca. 50 km ↑ ca. 779 hm ↓ ca. 1137 hm Technique Endurance Off Road ca. 70 % On Road ca. 30 % Portela – easy tour Our tour starts at Vale Paraiso and follows the Levada do Faial for approx. 18 km. Then we make our way up to the Boca da Corida, where we can enjoy the magnificent view over the coast. After we leave Portela behind us, we head towards Machico, using smaller secondary roads through the forest. In Machico we have a little time left for a snack until the minibus picks us up and takes us back to Canico de Baixo. ⌚ ca. 4 h. ⟷ ca. 47,5 km ↑ ca. 345 hm ↓ ca. 645 hm Technique Endurance Off Road ca. 70 % On Road ca. 30 % 2 / 6 Portela – simple Tour Our tour starts at Vale Paraiso and we ride alongside the Levada Serra do Faial. We cycle beneath laurel trees and take in the scent of the eukalytus trees. After we passed Portela, we take forest tracks and small secondary roads towards Machico. There we have time for a snack and a bath on the sandy beach of Machico until the bus picks us up and takes us back to our bikestation. ⌚ ca. 3 h. ⟷ ca. 35 km ↑ ca. 0 hm ↓ ca. 645 hm Technique Endurance Off Road ca. 70 % On Road ca. 30 % Paul da Serra – Ribeira da Janela (4 participants or more) Our tour begins on Madeira's single high plateau Paul da Serra. From there we have fantastic views of the valley of Ribeira Brava, Sao Vicente and the Massif Central. On our way we ride beneath laurel trees, which are a couple of hundred years old. After that follows a rapid descent to Ribeira da Janela, where the bus picks us up and takes us back to Canico de Baixo. ⌚ ca. 4 h. ⟷ ca. 42,7 km ↑ ca. 605 hm ↓ ca. 1738 hm Technique Endurance Off Road ca. 55 % On Road ca. 45 % Paul da Serra - Porto Moniz (4 participants or more) We start nearby Fonte do Bisco, above Prazeres, and cycle along the south coast, on a heights of approx. 950 metres, to Ponta del Pago while staying on forest roads and trails. We leave the southern part with a view of Ponta del Pago and ride to the north side. The paths alternate between ascents and descents on well rideble trails. Our way leads us through forests of laurel and eukalyptus trees and offers a magnificent view of the south side and north coast on several occasions. Our rapid descentends in Porto Moniz at the natural pools. ⌚ ca. 4 h. ⟷ ca. 40,5 km ↑ ca. 485 hm ↓ ca. 1635 hm Technique Endurance Off Road ca. 78 % On Road ca. 22 % 3 / 6 Paul da Serra – Jardim do Mar (4 participants or more) We start on the high plateau of Paul da Serra. A spectacular view, barren landscape and beautiful moorland are waiting for us. Then we take forest roads along the "Levada Nova do Rabacal" down to Jardim do Mar at Madeira's south coast, where the minibus picks us up. ⌚ ca. 4 h. ⟷ ca. 45,3 km ↑ ca. 596 hm ↓ ca. 749 hm Technique Endurance Off Road ca. 85 % On Road ca. 15 % Funchal The minibus takes us to our starting point in Camacha. From there we are riding alongside the Levada da Serra do Faial, one of Madeira's longest Levadas, until we reach Monte. Passing wonderful gardens, we are cycling through the old town of Funchaland further on to Camara de Lobos, one of the picturesque fishing villages in Madeira. Our way back to Caniço de Baixo is leading us through Funchal, where we have to face another heavy ascent. ⌚ ca. 4 h. ⟷ ca. 50 km ↑ ca. 897 hm ↓ ca. 1627 hm Technique Endurance Off Road ca. 12,5 % On Road ca. 82,5 % Pico Arieiro – Madeira’s third highest peak We are taken to Abrigo do Pastor by bus. From there we ride steadily uphill through the ecological park, aiming for the third highest peak of Madeira, the Pico Ariero. Arriving at the top you can enjoy a breathtaking view, that makes you forget the struggels you endured reaching it. On the way down to Canico de Baixo you can glimpse at Funchal while enjoying the downhill parts and Levada roads. ⌚ ca. 4 h. ⟷ ca. 45 km ↑ ca. 1008 hm ↓ ca. 2003 hm Technique Endurance Off Road ca. 39 % On Road ca. 61 % Santana Our tour starts in Guindaste and we ride uphill until we reach the Levada do Caldeiro Verde. While following the Levada our way leads us through the Parque Florestal das Queimadas, where we have a lot of beautiful vantage points. After a short visit to the "Casa de Colmo" in Santana, we head downhill towards the sea. This road is special, because it was the former main road, which connected all of Madeira's villages. ⌚ ca. 4 h. ⟷ ca. 30,4 km ↑ ca. 1073 hm ↓ ca. 1104 hm Technique Endurance Off Road ca. 65 % On Road ca. 35 % 4 / 6 São Jorge Our tour starts nearby Achado do Felpa. We ride on forest tracks beneath laurel and eukalyptus trees until we reach 837 m. On this heights we have a great view of Madeira's mountain side and coast. The tour neds in Arco de San Jorge at the sea. ⌚ ca. 4 h. ⟷ ca. 28 km ↑ ca. 632 hm ↓ ca. 1081 hm Technique Endurance Off Road ca. 75 % On Road ca. 25 % Chão da Lagoa Our tour starts in "Terreiro da Luta", where we enjoy the fantastic view of Sao Gonsalo. From here on we ride steadily uphill to the "Montado do Pereiro", through the "Parque Ecologico do Funchal" and further on to the plateau of "Chao da Lagoa". The distance to the "Pico do Suna" is a sporting challenge for bikers. The efforts are made up with the ride along the "Levada da Serra do Faial" and a rapid descent to Canico de Baixo. ⌚ ca. 5 h. ⟷ ca. 45 km ↑ ca. 1171 hm ↓ ca. 1915 hm Technique Endurance Off Road ca. 80 % On Road ca. 20 % Chão dos Terreiros – Trompica The minibus takes us to "Quinta Grande". After riding through Terreiros, Lugar da Serre and Fontes we start the difficult ascent to the "Chao dos Terreiros" (1436 m). The mountain peak offers a unique view. Our tour resumes in the direction of Boca da Corrida, passes Jardim da Serra, has a side trip to Cabo Girao and ends in the bay of Camara de Lobos, a picturesque fishing village. A small market takes place in Santa Cruz, where you can buy fresh fish, fruits and vegetables. We resume our tour towards Machico, where we have time for a little break. From Canical, the former industrial and fishing harbour of Madeira, we ride to Madeira’s farest east, the Ponta de Sao Lorenco. The eastern cape offers a breathtaking view of the wild atlantic sea in the north. When we reach Machico we have a little time left to take a bath in the sea until the bus picks us up. ⌚ ca. 5 h. ⟷ ca. 54 km ↑ ca. 1097 hm ↓ ca. 1165 hm Ribeira Brava over Cabo Girão, Câmara de Lobos to Caniço de Baixo The minibus takes us to Ribeira Brava, from where we ride steadily uphill alongside the coast until we reach Cabo Girao, europe’s highest steep coast, where we have a great view of the coast. On a rapid descent we continue our ride until we reach Camara de Lobos, Madeira’s oldest fishing village. Here you can have a break at the sea and try out the delicious “prego no prato”. On our way back to the bikestation we pass through Funchal. ⌚ ca. 5 h. ⟷ ca. 44 km ↑ ca. 1307 hm ↓ ca. 1232 hm 6 / 6 Pico do Arieiro, Eira do Serrado, Funchal, Caniço de Baixo We are taken to our starting point by bus. After the ascent to the Pico Ariero, where we have a great view of Madeira’s mountain world, we continue to Eiro do Serrado.
