Diagnóstico Técnico - Produto 2 Meio Biótico - APAM Litoral Centro 3.2.1.5 PLÂNCTON 3.2.1.5.1 Visão geral O plâncton é constituído por organismos cujo poder de deslocamento é insuficiente para vencer a dinâmica das massas de água e correntes no ambiente aquático. Fazem parte desse grupo: o virioplâncton (vírus), bacterioplâncton (bactérias e cianobactérias); o fitoplâncton (algas microscópicas e os protistas fotossintetizantes formados por uma única célula ou organizados em colônias); o zooplâncton (animais e protistas não fotossintetizantes); e o ictioplâncton (ovos, larvas e pós-larvas de peixes) (BONECKER et. al., 2002). Esses organismos microscópicos são de vital importância para os ecossistemas marinhos, pois representam a base da teia alimentar pelágica nos oceanos e mudanças em sua composição e estrutura podem ocasionar modificações em todos os níveis tróficos superiores. Os organismos planctônicos apresentam características dinâmicas, com elevadas taxas de reprodução e perda, respondendo rapidamente às alterações físicas e químicas do meio aquático e estabelecendo complexas relações intra e interespecíficas na competição e utilização do espaço e dos recursos (LONGHURST & PAULY, 2007). Variações nas condições meteorológicas, nas características geomorfológicas regionais e os impactos antropogênicos nas áreas costeiras, influenciam diretamente as características taxonômicas e na dinâmica espaço-temporal das comunidades planctônicas (BRANDINI et. al., 1997; EKAU & KNOPPERS, 1999). ■ Bacterioplâncton A importância do bacterioplâncton vem sendo evidenciada em estudos ecológicos, nos quais se estima que aproximadamente metade da produção primária seja canalizada através das bactérias, sendo que em águas oligotróficas, a biomassa bacteriana pode se igualar ou superar a biomassa do fitoplâncton (CHO et. al., AZAM, 1990; FUHRMAN; AZAM, 1982). -

A total of 496 species in 118 families are listed with collection records and/or taxonomic remarks. A new Japanese name was established for Diceratias trilobus. Key words: deep-water fi shes, fi sh fauna, distribution, Tohoku District Introduction The Tohoku (meaning northeast in Japanese) District is a northern part of Honshu Island, Japan. The Pacifi c side is washed by the cold Oyashio Current from the north and warm Kuro shio Current from the south, resulting in good fi shing grounds for a scomberesocid Cololabis saira, a gadid Gadus macrocephalus and several scorpaenids (e.g., Sebastolobus macrochir). -

This checklist was compiled from fish species recorded in surveys conducted over the last 30 years in the shallow inner continental shelf in the State of Paraná, Brazil. Information on biogeography, conservation status, economic importance and degree of species’ vulnerability are provided. A total of 272 fish species were recorded, spanning 25 orders and 88 families. -

Abstract: The number of marine fish species listed for the coast of the São Paulo state is reasonably high in comparison with other Brazilian coastal regions of similar extension and mostly represented by demersal species that resulted from collecting efforts along the continental shelf. Species from rocky bottoms and reef areas as well as those from the deep sea are less abundant. Since the inventory is far from complete and no projects related to marine fishes have been carried out through the BIOTA/FAPESP program, it is expected that research groups involved in systematics, biology and other aspects related to the study of marine fishes be stimulated to contribute to increase of the knowledge of the group. www.nature.com/scientificreports OPEN Global phylogeography suggests extensive eucosmopolitanism in Mesopelagic Fishes (Maurolicus: Sternoptychidae) David J. Rees 1*, Jan Y. Poulsen2, Tracey T. Sutton3, Paulo A. S. Costa4 & Mauricio F. Landaeta5 Fishes in the mesopelagic zone (200–1000 m) have recently been highlighted for potential exploitation. Here we assess global phylogeography in Maurolicus, the Pearlsides, an ecologically important group. We obtained new sequences from mitochondrial COI and nuclear ITS-2 from multiple locations worldwide, representing 10 described species plus an unknown central South Pacifc taxon. Phylogenetic analyses identifed fve geographically distinct groupings, three of which comprise multiple described species. Species delimitation analyses suggest these may represent four species. Maurolicus muelleri and M. australis are potentially a single species, although as no shared haplotypes are found between the two disjunct groups, we suggest maintenance of these as two species. Maurolicus australis is a predominantly southern hemisphere species found in the Pacifc, Indian and southern South Atlantic Oceans, comprising fve previously allopatric species. M. muelleri (previously two species) is distributed in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea. Maurolicus weitzmani (previously two species) inhabits the eastern equatorial Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico and western North and South Atlantic. Maurolicus mucronatus is restricted to the Red Sea. No Maurolicus have previously been reported in the central South Pacifc but we have identifed a distinct lineage from this region, which forms a sister group to Maurolicus from the Red Sea. Mesopelagic fshes have been highlighted as a potential target for exploitation by fsheries and the biomarine industry in recent years, following revised biomass estimates of 10 billion metric tons1,2.
