First, if Najib Abdul Razak goes to jail in the United States, we want to get back the funds that he has allegedly stolen from Malaysia either in cash or whatever he has converted the funds into. Second, if Najib is no longer the PM, we have the prospect of Ahmad Zahid Hamidi stepping up to be the PM. Go figure! Multi Racial: To be fair, the problem is not just with Najib. Malaysia is in trouble because of people around him. We have cabinet ministers who have not questioned Najib on this scandal, but instead go to great lengths to show their support for him. There is no problem if we have a bad leader because the others will remove him or her in no time. But when we have a whole bunch of them out there, this is how a nation falls. I pray all those politicians in BN will do what is right and good for the nation. Otherwise if anything happens to this country, they should be held responsible, together with Najib. Anonymous_3e12 : Indeed, a PM should not be indispensable - why is it in Malaysia that the Malays think the PM is like god. If our PM is jailed in the US, what does it say about our country's law for its inability to handle an alleged crime committed by the PM? A failed state. Headhunter : “You reap what you sow”. That says it all. With all these exposes involving so many government agencies, it is not hard now to believe that the Anwar Ibrahim sodomy case was stage-managed right from the beginning. Remember those seedy videos which failed to convince anyone? Najib’s crime is much worse than Anwar's, even if it was true. The prospect of going to prison can be quite frightening, especially if one has been pampered like a prima donna his whole life. It's worse if one is incarcerated in a US prison. Fellow prisoners can behave like beasts in there. Casey : Whether Najib is brought to justice or justice is brought to Najib, all that we want is that justice is done. So what if Najib is sent to the prison in the US? TakDahDuit : But meanwhile, a scandal-ridden prime minister remains in his post. There is no point talking round the problem. Malaysians must ask themselves why they do not have a procedure to get rid of an incompetent prime minister who has lost all credibility. Ipohcrite : If Najib goes to prison in the US, I'm sure his staunch supporters - Jamal Md Yunos, Salleh Said Keruak and Abdul Rahman Dahlan come to mind - wouldn't mind joining him there. After all, they strongly believe in his cause. Dont Just Talk : Former Batu Kawan Umno deputy division head Khairuddin Abu Hassan is now an enemy of the party president, whose principle is either you are with me or against me. Another Umno Baru member is Anina Saadudin from Pulau Langkawi, who has the courage to question the US$700 million ‘derma’ (donation_ which was wired into Najib's personal bank account. These are a few good people who dare to challenge their corrupted leader when things are not done right, and yet there are many in Umno Baru who are saying that wrong is right, with one claiming to have met the generous Arab donor, making him look like a clown in the eyes of many Malaysians. So what if Najib is sent to a US prison, the sun will still rise the following day in the east and set in the west, for no one is indispensable in life. Fair Play : I suppose Umno Malays’ dignity must be insulted to the core by this 'indiscretion' of the US Justice Department. Where are Ali Rustam and his army of silat fighters and the red shirts when their fearless leader is treated like that? Doc: Najib has been singled out for prosecution by the US grand jury over money-laundering charges and it is clear that this is not only insulting to a democratically elected leader in Malaysia but it is an insult to the Malays, too, as he is the president of Umno. Umno claims to be the the one and only organisation that protects the rights and dignity of the Malay race. Just like when the Chinese who Umno has claimed to have threatened the Malays, hence resulting in the red shirt and Pesaka protest to uplift Malay rights and unity and also to give support to Najib's dismal role as PM, similarly now the US government is bringing an insult to Najib, a Malay leader, too, so will we see another red shirt and Pesaka uprising, this time against the US government? It suggests that blogs perform three main functions, which help make a democracy more meaningful: blogs as fifth estate, blogs as networks, and blogs as platform for expression. First, blogs function as the fifth estate performing checks-and-balances over the government. This function is expressed by blogs’ role in the dissemination of information, providing alternative perspectives that challenge the dominant frame, and setting of news agenda. The second function of blogs is that they perform as networks. This is linked to the social-networking aspect of the blogosphere both online and offline. Blogs also have the potential to act as mobilizing agents. The mobilizing capability of blogs facilitated the mass street protests, which took place in late- 2007 and early-2008 in Malaysia.

You can’t live in a rising share market. You can’t give your kids a better life because your company’s C.E.O. was able to give himself a big raise. When rubber-meets-road, it has been argued that a better way to measure whether the economy is working for the mass of Malaysians is not GDP but household income. [1] To the average Malaysian, what matters most is how much money is going into their pockets and what they can buy with that money. It has been reported on 10 Oct 2017 that the minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Abdul Rahman Dahlan quoting the Report of Household Income and Basic Amenities Survey 2016 released by the Statistics Department, claimed that the report showed rising household income, declining incidence of poverty and decreasing income inequality under the BN government. “This debunks the popular notion that income in Malaysia is stagnant or income increment does not match the rising prices of goods and services,” Rahman, who is also BN strategic communications director, said in a statement.     The Malaysian Bar vs. The Attorney General of Malaysia & The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission: The Moment the Malaysian Bar Stood Up for the Key Institutions of State _________________________________________________________ On the 14th of March 2016, the Malaysian Bar filed a landmark challenge in the High Court of Malaya. The challenge was the first of its kind in recorded legal history. The Bar did not derive any pecuniary benefit from the action. It was a suit filed to protect the independence and integrity of key institutions of state during what was a difficult period in the country. This is the story of the Malaysian Bar’s judicial review application against the decision of the then Attorney General of Malaysia not to institute a criminal prosecution against the then Prime Minister and, further, the direction to the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission of Malaysia (“the MACC”) to cease its investigations into the transfer of funds into the said Prime Minister’s personal bank accounts. The team that represented the Malaysian Bar was led by two doyens of the profession: Tommy Thomas and Dato’ Ambiga Sreenevasan. Their appearance for the Bar was befitting of the brief. Never before had a Bar Association filed a court action to challenge the exercise of the prosecutorial powers of the state’s chief prosecuting officer. The judicial review was filed against the backdrop of an unprecedented international financial scandal which placed Malaysia at the centre of global attention. At the heart of the saga was a Malaysian company named 1Malaysia Development Berhad (“1MDB”). 1MDB was incorporated as a state investment fund for the purposes of transforming Malaysia into a financial hub.

Pelaksanaan projek MRT adalah bukti terbaharu. “Menerusi sokongan berte¬rusan rakyat, insya-Allah kita dapat menyaksikan projek ECRL pada 2024 seperti dijanjikan atau lebih awal lagi,” katanya ketika berucap menyempurnakan majlis pecah tanah projek ECRL di Kotasas di sini hari ini. Rabaut paid a courtesy visit to Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Vincent Tan (“TSVT”), Founder of Berjaya Corporation group of companies and presented him with a legacy lead gift donor medallion and a token of TAN RECOGNISED FOR HIS appreciation in recognition of his contribution totaling to approximately CONTRIBUTION TO KIWANIS US$200,000 towards The Eliminate Project. TSVT is one of the two lead donors in Asia Pacific who have donated more than US$100,000 towards the project. With this contribution, INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION approximately 110,000 mothers and babies would be vaccinated and protected from tetanus disease. Also present were Datuk Fatimah Saad, Governor of Kiwanis Malaysia; Hwang Chia Sing, Treasurer of KIF; Lee Kuan Yong, Chairman of Kiwanis Asia Pacific and Dato’ Sri Robin Tan, Chairman and CEO of Berjaya Corporation Berhad. The Eliminate Project is a global health campaign by KIF in partnership with UNICEF to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus (“MNT”) disease. The project aims to raise US$110 million and save the lives of 129 million mothers and their future babies. As of February 2016, KIF has raised US$107 million in cash and pledges. MNT is among the most common lethal consequences of unclean deliveries and umbilical cord care practices. When tetanus develops, mortality rates are extremely high, especially when appropriate medical care is not available. This happens despite the fact that MNT deaths can be easily prevented by hygienic delivery and cord care practices, and/ or by immunizing mothers with tetanus vaccine that is cheap and very efficacious.

Lin Wenquan : Our ministers have certainly honed their skill of apple-polishing to becoming a subtle and insidious cultivation of the cult of 'hero worshipping' of their leaders. Sad to say, the PM's mysterious silence and impotency to act on issues that threaten to tear apart the social and racial fabric of this country is too distant or too abstract for this sycophant (Housing and Local Government Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan) to acknowledge. Instead he grossly heaps preposterous praises on the lackluster and often self-contradictory actions of a PM when it is least deserved. Astounded: "I always believe the person you should listen to and take heed of is the prime minister himself. Nothing else matters," said Abdul Rahman. Yes, when we want to listen to the PM, nothing has come out from his mouth, especially on the hudud issue. Day after day, we wait but still silence. Not only on this matter but also on other important issues which are critical to the country. So how to listen? Are we expected to interpret the silence? Get real, Abdul Rahman Dahlan. What about the arrests of Malaysiakini cartoonist Zunar and the confiscation of his work, which as of now were all cleared by the courts so far? Isn't that there is something really wrong here? Mushiro : Indeed, we are "free" to criticise Rosmah but the inspector-general of police (IGP) is busy bullying Zunar for his cartoons on her.
