RRNLQJEDFNDWP\\RXWK,UHDOL]HWKDWWKHJUHDWHVWDQGPRVWLQÁXHQWLDOWKLQJWKDWP\ mom ever said to me were three little words: "Go play outside." Living in Burlington, L that meant endless days biking around the neighbourhood with friends, exploring more and more of the city as I got older. It meant building sand castles, playing games and swimming at Burlington Beach. It meant exploring the countless parks and forests and streams throughout our city. It meant playing lacrosse, football, soccer, baseball, street hockey and running cross country, both at school and just for fun. As a kid, I took those things for granted, but as I've grown older, I've realized just how lucky I am to call Burlington home. As an Olympic athlete I have travelled the globe, paddling my canoe in countries too numerous to count. While I enjoy my travels, I always come home knowing that we live in one of the greatest places in the world. It's no surprise that Burlington is often found at or near the top of various "best places to live" lists. Our family friendly communities are ideal for people of all ages and our city has so much for everyone to explore. The beautiful Lake Ontario is literally in our backyard, a true playground for adventurous spirits. For those who want to stay on land, hike the escarpment trails of Mount Nemo, head to the Royal Botanical Gardens, or check out our amazing festivals like the Sound of Music, or my personal favourite: Ribfest! Whatever you enjoy, Burlington has something for you to enjoy, and if I can pass on one piece of advice, it would be simple: Go play outside! - Mark Oldershaw, @MarkOldershaw

“I have lived in downtown Burlington for more than 20 years and love that we are just steps away from so many great summer festivals. It became even more important when we had children. We love to spend time together as a family taking in the sights and sounds of the Sound of Music festival and Ribfest. These festivals help to create the sense of community we love here in Burlington.” Christy Laverty ALittleBrightSpot. Night View by Sound of Music com, @ImFreckles
