Ministry of Education Ministère de l'Éducation ` Early Learning Division Division de l’apprentissage des jeunes enfants Mowat Block, 24th floor Édifice Mowat, 24e étage 900 Bay St. 900, rue Bay Queen’s Park Queen’s Park Toronto ON M7A 1L2 Toronto ON M7A 1L2 2011: EL3 MEMORANDUM TO: Directors of Education FROM: Jim Grieve Assistant Deputy Minister Early Learning Division DATE: June 1, 2011 SUBJECT: Full-Day Early Learning Kindergarten – Site Selection Confirmation for 2013-14 (Year 4) and 2014-15 (Year 5) We are pleased to announce the final rollout of Full-Day Early Learning Kindergarten (FDK) sites, which will enable us to achieve full implementation in September 2014. At this stage, the FDK program will be available to all students attending publicly funded District School Boards in Ontario. We appreciate your board's efforts to develop and submit the Year 4 and Year 5 proposals in a timely manner. Ministry staff analyzed and reviewed boards’ submissions based on the planning parameters and guidelines outlined in the Memorandum 2011: EL2 dated April 5, 2011. All FDK sites approved for 2013-14 (Year 4) and 2014-15 (Year 5) are listed in Appendix 1. Approximately 1,900 additional FDK sites will be added across the province, with 900 in Year 4 and 1,000 in Year 5. As outlined in Memorandum 2011: EL2, capital submissions from the boards for Year 4 and Year 5 sites are due to the ministry by June 24, 2011 and October 28, 2011 respectively. Please work directly with your board's capital analyst to identify your capital requirements for these schools. The Ministry is aware that some schools recommended by boards as Year 4 or Year 5 FDK sites are currently involved in an accommodation review process (ARC). The announcement of these schools as FDK sites does not preclude them from closing. However, in every case where a school closes that is offering the FDK program, the board must identify how and where the program will be offered to the impacted students, thereby ensuring that there is no disruption in the FDK program. Similarly, if a school closes before the FDK program has been introduced, the students from that school must be offered the FDK program in their new school in the same year as the program was announced to begin at their old school. Working together, you make it possible for four and five year olds in Ontario to participate in this revolutionary program. Your ongoing leadership and collaboration is vital to the success of FDK. _____________________ Jim Grieve Assistant Deputy Minister Copy: District School Boards - Superintendents of Business and Finance Consolidated Municipal Service Managers District Social Services Administration Boards Ministry of Education, Executive Team Ministry of Children and Youth Services, Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic Policy and Planning Division, Darryl Sturtevant Ministry of Children and Youth Services, Assistant Deputy Minister, Service Delivery Division, Nancy Matthews Full-Day Early Learning Kindergarten Program – Site Selection Confirmation Page 2 of 4 for 2013-14 and 2014-15 June 1, 2011 Memorandum 2011: EL3 from Jim Grieve Ministry of Education Regional Offices Barrie Regional Office Ana Marie Prokopich (English Language Boards) 20 Bell Farm Rd., Unit 9 Barrie ON L4M 6E4 Telephone: 705-725-7260 Fax: 705-725-7635 London Regional Office Rod Peturson (English Language Boards) 217 York St., Suite 207 London ON N6A 5P9 Telephone: 519 870 2187 Fax: 519-667-9769 Ottawa Regional Office Jacques Torjman (French and English Language Boards) 1580 Merivale Road, Suite 504 Nepean ON K2G 4B5 Telephone: 613-225-9210 ext. 136 Fax: 613-225-2881 Sudbury Regional Office Renee Brouillette (French and English Language Boards) 199 Larch Street, Suite 1103 Sudbury ON P3E 5P9 Telephone: 705-564-7281 Fax: 705-564-4233 Thunder Bay Regional Office Heather Exley (English Language Boards) 615 South James Street, 1st Floor Thunder Bay ON P7E 6P6 Telephone: 807-474-2981 Fax: 807-474-2999 Toronto and Area Regional Office Dolores Cascone (English Language Boards) Zineb Sebbane (French Language Boards) 3300 Bloor Street West 900 Bay Street Sun Life Financial Centre, Suite 3610-Centre Mowat Block, 24th Floor Tower Toronto, ON M7A 1L2 Toronto ON M8X 2X3 Telephone: 416- 325-8870 Telephone: 416-325-6870 Fax: 416-314-7836 Fax: 416-325-4153 Full-Day Early Learning Kindergarten Program – Site Selection Confirmation Page 3 of 4 for 2013-14 and 2014-15 June 1, 2011 Memorandum 2011: EL3 from Jim Grieve Full-Day Kindergarten Schools For 2013 And 2014 2013 Schools Algoma District School Board Bluewater District School Board Francis H Clergue Public School Beaver Valley Community School Holland-Chatsworth Central School Macphail Memorial Elementary School Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic Meaford Community School District School Board Osprey Central School Georges Vanier Catholic School Port Elgin-Saugeen Central School Holy Family Catholic School Holy Rosary Catholic School Sacred Heart Catholic School Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic St Patrick Catholic School (Kingston) District School Board St Paul Catholic School Holy Family School St Thomas More Catholic School Our Lady of Fatima School Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School Avon Maitland District School Board St. Gabriel Catholic (Elementary) Brookside Public School School Central Perth Elementary School Elma Township Public School St. Leo School Exeter Public School St. Mary's School (Haldimand County) Grey Central Public School St. Michael's School (Norfolk) Hullett Central Public School Huron Centennial School Shakespeare Public School Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Sprucedale Public School Board Stephen Central Public School Mary Immaculate Community St Anthony's Separate School Provincewide backgrounder – List of schools for Phases 4 and 5 Catholic District School Board of Eastern Conseil scolaire de district du Nord-Est Ontario de l'Ontario Holy Cross School École publique Le Coeur du Nord J L Jordan Separate School St Anne's School St. Gregory Catholic Conseil scolaire de district catholique St Jude's Catholic Elementary School Centre-Sud ÉÉC Le-Petit-Prince ÉÉC Mère-Élisabeth-Bruyère Conseil scolaire de district des écoles ÉÉC Monseigneur-de-Laval catholiques du Sud-Ouest ÉÉC Sainte-Madeleine École élémentaire catholique ÉÉC Saint-François-d'Assise Monseigneur Jean Noël ÉÉC Saint-Jean-Baptiste École élémentaire catholique Pavillon ÉÉC Saint-Joseph des Jeunes ÉÉC Saint-Noël-Chabanel École élémentaire catholique Saint- (Cambridge) Jean-Baptiste ÉÉC Saint-Philippe École élémentaire catholique Sainte- ÉÉC Samuel-de-Champlain Thérèse École élémentaire catholique Sainte- Marie Conseil scolaire de district catholique Franco-Nord École séparée Saint-Vincent Conseil scolaire de district du Centre Sud-Ouest École élémentaire Antonine Maillet Conseil scolaire de district catholique de École élémentaire Carrefour des l'Est ontarien Jeunes École élémentaire catholique de École élémentaire Horizon Jeunesse Casselman - Pav.
