● Western Approach (WA) can be reached via a number of routes including off-road paths and some quiet roads. There are marked routes on our map, which is ​ ​ available on the Ride and Stride website or ask us for a paper copy.

● There are good links from Lawrence Weston/ (route 41) or Cribbs ​ ​ ​ Causeway on route 4. You can cycle on route 41 from Avonmouth Train Station ​ ​ (5.7 Mi, 35mins) which has regular services to . Station is ​ ​ ​ ​ only 1.5mi away. You can also cycle from station (5.6 Mi, 35mins) with ​ ​ regular connections from central Bristol and Abbey Wood. ​ ​ ​ ​

● Western Approach is quite far from neighbouring towns but is walking distance from Severn Beach (1.5mi) which has a number of rail services. There are ​ ​ designated shared use paths marked on our map. ​ ​

● The stations closest to WA are Severn Beach (1.5 miles), (3 miles), ​ ​ ​ ​ Avonmouth (6.2 miles) and Patchway (5.7 miles). Full timetables ​ ​ ​ here:https://www.gwr.com/plan-journey/train-times ​

● Regular services run to Avonmouth station from Bristol Temple Meads, with ​ ​ ​ ​ some of those trains continuing to Severn Beach which is only 1.5 miles away ​ ​ from WA. If combined with cycling, trains from Avonmouth are a practical way to ​ ​ get to work in WA. Note: There are only two trains to Pilning a week. ​ ​

● The most regular bus to WA is the 625, however the first arrival is at 0952.

● 625 Stagecoach - UWE to Severn Beach – UWE – – Easter ​ ​ ​ Compton – Pilning – Severn Beach. Arriving roughly hourly from 0952- 1900 ​ ​ ​

● 623 Stagecoach - One journey a day only, Mon, Weds and Fri. ​ ​ ​ Severn Beach – – Cribbs Causeway – Hallen – – ​ Westbury on Trym – Cribbs Causeway
