Press Release Press Release JUNE 25, 2019 OVER THE TOP! RENAULT SPORT TEAM VITALITY BECOMES THE 2019 WORLD CHAMPIONS ON ROCKET LEAGUE! (RLCS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP) Newark 23rd June 2019 ­ What a memorable way to close a fruitful season for Kaydop (FR), Fairy Peak (FR) and Scrub Killa (SCT) with this world champions title won in the great final against G2Esports (4 ­1). Renault Sport Team Vitality wins the world title, shortly after claiming the European one a couple of months ago. This new title makes Vitality the RLCS Season 7 World Champions and historically, gives a 3rd World Championship title to Kaydop (FR), while Scrub Killa (SCT) becomes the MVP of the tournament. READY FOR VICTORY. After a disappointing and unexpected 9­12th place at DreamHack Dallas earlier this month, the Renault Sport Team Vitality squad, together with their manager Gregan (UK), came to Newark with one clear goal in mind: bring back the trophy to Europe and prove that other teams had no chance against them. The group stage saw a clumsy start, pushing the squad at the second place of their group. On their path to the grand final they would have to cross the road of NRG and Cloud9. After a tough first game against NRG, the black and yellow trio started playing smoothly and managed to get to the grand final in a glimpse after a victory 3­1 against NRG and an impressive 4­0 against Cloud9. ONE WAY ROAD FOR ONE TEAM ONLY. The closer you get to the summit makes the harder you fall but falling was not an option for Renault Sport Team Vitality would stand firmly on their wheels and get their hands on this awaited trophy. The final games allowed the full trio to play their best Rocket League games against G2Esports, showing to the whole world, that Renault Sport Team Vitality is the best team in the world on Rocket League in 2019. The latter is a very young Dutch driver who is only 17 and has great potential. The team will officially start the season on 14 October at the first event of the 2020 F1® Esports Series calendar. In this desire to help performance development within Team Vitality, Renault will also append its name to the brand new Renault V.Performance. Recently, the market of eSports continues to grow in popularity and value. Due to its rapid development a better understanding of the consumers’ side of the eSports markets is important to meet its changing demands. In that context, it is especially important to gain a better understanding of loyalty towards eSports brands. Based on assumptions of the relationship quality perspective, we attempt to improve the understanding of loyalty towards an eSports brand using relation- ship quality (i.e., trust, identification, reputation, affect) and its antecedents (i.e., age, consumer similarity, attractiveness). Accordingly, we collected a sample with 216 eSports consumers to explain consumer loyalty using a structural equa- tion modelling approach. Results show support for the postulated meaningfulness of relationship quality and attractiveness of the brand as predictors of consumer loyalty. Additionally, we reveal that consumer similarity and attractiveness have the potential to explain relationship quality in a positive fashion, contrary to age.
