BBC Music Day is a UK-wide celebration of music that aims to unite communities and generations through their love of music. At Frederick Bremer we created a 120 piece choir and orchestra across the year groups, learning repertoire in one day and performed to an audience at the end to the day. Year 9 taught Year 7 how to play with the assistance of Year 8 pupils. Year 9 pupils found it challenging teaching others, but said they "enjoyed helping and teaching others, meeting new pupils and being the conductor”. Many were able to reflect on the experience they had and how they would develop their teaching style. Overall, it was a fantastic day and pupils responded well, a pupil stated that "it was amazing and I think we should do this more often". They worked hard over the past few months to learn Mozart's Piano Concerto in F, a challenging piece which demands highly skilled performers and involved some very intense rehearsals. The pupils involved were: Maya - Piano Soloist Cherie, Sam, Fahar, Alice, Charlotte, Amber, Danny, Frederick, Daniel, Eric, Joshua and Zack . "I am incredibly proud of their hard work, dedication and how professional the final performance was. I had goosebumps from the performance - well done to them all". Miss Buckley The director of music at MiSST who worked with the pupils said: “The pupils were great and you should be proud of how well they represented the school. Maya worked particularly hard learning the whole piece off by heart! Some great things going on at Frederick Bremer!” 5 Follow us @FBSchoolE17 for the latest news @frederickbremerschool www.bremer.org.uk MUSIC SUMMER CONCERT Our final concert of the year which showcased all the handwork of the Year 7,8 and 9 Creative Curriculum pupils. Performances exhibited the range of progress made by pupils this year. This included Year 7 ensembles, solo performances from pupils who have taken their grade exams, our senior ensemble and our combined choir and orchestra. Pupils demonstrated their talent and every concert just gets stronger with their ability. We are incredibly proud of the hard work, motivation and progress of all pupils. We look forward to even more next year! We are extremely proud of how hard our pupils work and would like to say a very well done all involved! 6 Follow us @FBSchoolE17 for the latest news @frederickbremerschool www.bremer.org.uk RADLEY COLLEGE RESIDENTIAL Fifteen pupils were taken to Radley College for the 3rd year in a row as part of the MiSST programme. The aim of the residency is to improve musical knowledge and skills, form new friendships across the MiSST schools and increase confidence in problem solving and team work. Across the 4 days pupils learnt and prepared 3 pieces for performance as well as participated in social activities and we have year 9 pupils who are mentors and senior members to work with the younger pupils. This is a great opportunity for the selected pupils to spend 4 days in a private college, accessing music education in a workshop style setting. Pupils found the music sessions intense, but have loved the experience of college life and meeting new people.
