The signals hoisted at the end of the Pier at Leith, to shew the depth of the water, are as follows —When the ball is at the top of the mast, the depth of water is ten feet— the same with a pendant underneath, eleven feet — the pendant above the ball indicates twelve feet — two balls, thirteen feet — two balls, with pendant below them, fourteen feet — the pendant with the two balls below it, fifteen feet — the pendant betwixt the two balls, sixteen feet — a tricolor flag, seventeen feet — the same, with ball above, eighteen feet — the same, with ball below, nineteen feet.
