ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH 95 MARKET STREET MOUNT CLEMENS, MICHIGAN 48043 December 2, 2018 ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH 95 MARKET STREET MOUNT CLEMENS, MICHIGAN 48043 December 2, 2018 Phone: (586)468-4578 Website: stpetermtclemens.weconnect.com Dear Parish Family: Here is the continuation of an abridged version of “Unleash the Gospel”. Fr. Mike’s article can be found on page 3. Guidepost 6 PersontoPerson Engagement Marker 6.1 Going Out The Good News is most effectively shared in personto person encounters, onthespot evangelization. Jesus did not remain in the synagogues; he went out to where tax collectors, prostitutes, and sinners could be found. Pope Francis urges, "Let us go forth, then, to offer everyone the life of Jesus Christ."12 Wherever possible, sharing the Gospel includes inviting people; fellow parishioners and out- siders, to join in activities of the Church. Marker 6.2 Accompaniment Accompaniment of those being evangelized is an essential part of unleashing the Gospel. When Jesus walked with the two disciples on the road to Emmaus, he met them where they were in their faith and helped them to go further. "The Church must initiate everyone priests, religious and laity into this 'art of accompaniment'."13 Marker 6.3 Healing Many people today are deeply wounded by contemporary social ills such as the breakdown of the family, abuse·, poverty, or racism. Jesus, quoting from the prophet Isaiah, described his own mission as a work of healing and liberation (Lk 4:1819). So we prayerfully ask how the healing work of Christ can be blended into our announce- ment of the good news. Being a minister of healing requires a rich prayer life and wise discernment. Marker 6.4 Media "New" evangelization must use new media. Just as St. Paul used the highly developed Roman road system, and Detroit's early pastor Gabriel Richard used the latest printing technologies to spread the Gospel, so we use the advances in social media and information technology in our time. I encourage media experts to share their expertise and help train others in using the media for evangelizing. At the same time, we avoid the temptation to lower our standards of charity when using social media. Let people see our posts not only good in content, but respectful, charitable, joyful, peaceful, and hopeful in tone. Our goal is not to win arguments but to win hearts. Guidepost 7 Families † Fr. Mike’s Article is on page 3. Families are the first and most important setting in which evangelization takes place. St. Peter Parish, Mount Clemens Page 3 My Dear Friends, Our Parish Family is very busy at this time of year. This weekend we celebrate the new Altar Server Installation. There are also Baptisms on Sunday. The blessing of the Grotto will hopefully take place next Saturday after the 4:00 Mass. Our Friend, Shibli the Woodcarver from the Holy Land, will be with us after all of the Masses next weekend. I also need to remind you that Saturday, December 8, is the feast of the Immaculate Conception and is considered a Holy day of Obligation. Since it falls on a Saturday and the Saturday evening Mass is for the Feast of the Second Sunday of Advent, our only Mass for the Immaculate Conception will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday Morning, December 8th. I have also been reminded to clarify for everyone how we are going to handle the Christmas collection. Any funds you give to us at Christmas are free of the 7% tax from the Archdiocese. If you wish to give additional support to our parish Family you can give it as part of the Christmas collection, the Building Fund or the C.S.A. If you use any of these ways it will be tax free from the Archdiocese. As I write this article, I am told that the statues of Mary and the Children for the Grotto will be delivered tomorrow, Wednesday. Once they are here, there will be a meeting to discuss how we will anchor them in the Grotto. At that point we will place them in the Grotto hopefully to be blessed after the 4:00 Mass on December 8. Work continues on the new Gymnasium at the school. Hopefully it will be completed in the near future. In a week or so I hope to give you a more detailed report on where we stand on these projects and on the finances you have given to pay for them. I want to thank all of you for your very gracious generosity for our Thanksgiving Day Food Drive. I have not received the complete totals at this time but I know over 200 families were helped to celebrate Thanksgiving with their loved ones around a table because of you. We also shared the turkeys we received with St. Louis, Zion, the Capuchins and others. Without you many, many families would not have been able to celebrate Thanksgiving. You put food on their tables. One of the mandates of Jesus is to feed the hungry. You should be very pleased and at peace that you have done that well once again this year. THANK YOU! There is one other thing I want you to think about.

Through unpublished documentary sources – the minutes of the meetings of the Sacred Congregation of Extraordinary Ecclesiastical Affairs – the essay aims to illustrate Pietro Gasparri’s privileged perspective over anglo-vatican relations. While mainly focused on his period as Cardinal Secretary of State of Pius XI (1922–1930), some hints will also be given to his tenure of office during the pontificate of Benedict XV, as well as to Consalvi’s and Rampolla’s influence on his way of perceiving British matters. Gasparri’s role and at titude will be analysed with particular reference to the negotiations on the appointments of Apostolic Delegates in the British Empire (1926) and the conflict between Church and State in Malta (1928–1932). 1 Introduzione Nel giudizio storiografico la persona e l’opera del Gasparri sono state associate, da sempre, a quella corrente della diplomazia pontificia che si richiama al realismo ed alla flessibilità nella ricerca di intese con gli Stati 1: è dal 1932 che Ernesto Vercesi ne percepì la figura allineata a quella di due suoi predecessori al vertice della Segreteria di Stato, i cardinali Ercole Consalvi e Mariano Rampolla del Tindaro, ognuno dei quali rappresentava natu 1 Tale fu, ad esempio, la percezione di Giovanni Spadolini: “Gasparri era, e restava in ogni atto della sua vita, il grand commis della Chiesa, il grande diplomatico spregiudicato e scettico, armato con tutti i ferri del mestiere ma capace di tutte le duttilità e di tutte le astuzie, pur di servire un fine che egli giudicava essenziale”.

VIE OBLATE LIFE TOME CINQUANTE NEUF / 1 VOLUME FIFTY NIN2 / 1 2000 OTTAWA, CANADA Fortuné de Mazenod à la maison des Missionnaires d’Aix Comportements et convictions (1818-1823) SUMMARY: Just a few days after his arrival in France, Fortuné de Mazenod installed himself in the house of the Missionaries of Provence, at Aix. Where he dwelled for more then five years. Thanks to the correspondence 1, where we have drawn the previous article we can penetrate in the intimacy of a man who owes a great deal to his nephew Eugene, but from whom in return, the latter has much received. The matter of concern was much more then simple family ties. We are faced before a fabric of complex social, political and religious situation by which we have not yet finished identifying all the elements. We resolutely place ourselves in Fortuné’s point of view, as we pause to consider the way he has adapted to his new life, to his preoccupations for his brothers, to his financial problems, to his involvement in his political and religious ideas. We are reckoning on a comeback of Eugene’s portrait to bring out the exchanges between the uncle and the father of the future saint.

Payne, J.D., dean, presiding on Friday, May 21, 2021, at 11 a.m. Jack Shields, Founder and Chairman of Shields Health Solutions, will be the speaker. The listing of candidates for degrees is accurate as of noon on Thursday, April 15, 2021. This booklet is not intended as an official record of the University. Official listings of degrees conferred by The Catholic University of America are held by the University registrar. Large print copies of this program are available from the ushers for any guest with a visual disability. Historical Note The bishops of the United States made the decision to found The Catholic University of America on December 2, 1884. A month later, during the first meeting of the committee to which the bishops had delegated the work of organization, the University was named. Pope Leo XIII, who was a source of encouragement from the beginning, gave formal approbation to the project on April 10, 1887. Immediately thereafter, civil incorporation in the District of Columbia was obtained. Later in the year, the Pope named John Joseph Keane, bishop of Richmond, to be the first rector. Papal approval of the first constitution of the University was given on March 7, 1889, and the University was opened on the following November 13. At the time, the modern American university was still in its infancy. The Johns Hopkins University in 1876 had been the first in the country to dedicate itself not only to the preservation of learning and teaching, as American institutions had been doing since the foundation of Harvard College on an English model in 1636, but also to the advancement of knowledge through research in the manner of the Prussian universities of the 19th century.
