    INTRODUCTION We hope you enjoy reading through our latest catalogue. We aim to provide restorers and historic vehicle enthusiasts with transfers and graphics to the highest attainable standard. Our background is mainly motor cycle orientated but over the years we have found that many motor cycle transfers were used on bicycles, and vice versa. If you are unable to find what you need always ask - we may be about to have the item printed. The majority of our stocks are the popular waterslide transfers but we also supply vinyl graphics where originally they were in that format. Low volume sellers are also supplied as vinyl graphics where a waterslide print run would be totally uneconomic. We use only best quality cast 10 year vinyl with a 'thinness' of 50 microns (2 thou inch). We are also able to offer white registration letters and numbers in four sizes, 1¾ inch and 2½ inch deep for motor cycles and 3 inch and 3½ inch for three wheelers and motor cars. See last page for further details. By far the majority of our artwork is produced by hand-drawing (as were the originals) and we resist the temptation to produce transfers using standard computer fonts, thus keeping the period look of the originals. We have tried to be as accurate as we can with the relevant location and year information in our listings, but your detailed knowledge of a particular model may well be greater than ours.     The works brass band – a historical directory of the industrial and corporate patronage and sponsorship of brass bands Gavin Holman, January 2020 Preston Corporation Tramways Band, c. 1910 From the earliest days of brass bands in the British Isles, they have been supported at various times and to differing extents by businesses and their owners. In some cases this support has been purely philanthropic, but there was usually a quid pro quo involved where the sponsor received benefits – e.g. advertising, income from band engagements, entertainment for business events, a “worthwhile” pastime for their employees, corporate public relations and brand awareness - who would have heard of John Foster’s Mills outside of the Bradford area if it wasn’t for the Black Dyke Band? One major sponsor and supporter of brass bands, particularly in the second half of the 19th century, was the British Army, through the Volunteer movement, with upwards of 500 bands being associated with the Volunteers at some time – a more accurate estimate of these numbers awaits some further analysis. However, I exclude these bands from this paper, to concentrate on the commercial bodies that supported brass bands. I am also excluding social, civic, religious, educational and political organisations’ sponsorship or support. In some cases it is difficult to determine whether a band, composed of workers from a particular company or industry was supported by the business or not. The “workmen’s band” was often a separate entity, supported by a local trade union or other organisation. For the purposes of this review I will be including them unless there is specific reference to a trade union or other social organisation.

The Club was formed in 1956, the first of its kind in Australia, with the object of Preserving, Restoring and using Veteran, Vintage and Post Vintage Motorcycles. Membership is open to all and owning a suitable machine is not a pre-requisite. Machines must be at least 30 years old in the current year to be eligible for Club Events The Club has a strong family orientation and features many social activities as well as Runs and technical help. The Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month in the Payneham RSL Club, 360 Payneham Road, Payneham commencing at 8.00 p.m. Annual Fees are due by the 30th June each year. A joining fee of $15.00 is applicable to new members. The Annual Subscription is $35.00 to all members city and country.
