[…] Shishkin seems poised on the brink of a major career, one we’ll watch with great interest.’ Gramophone, March 2020 Young Russian pianist Dmitry Shishkin is critically acclaimed by the international press for his creative approach to music, his individuality and his remarkable technique. In June 2019, he was awarded the Silver Medal at the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition and won First Prize (ex-aequo) at the 73rd Geneva International Music Competition the year before. Born in Chelyabinsk, Siberia, Shishkin demonstrated exceptional talent for the piano, giving his first solo recital at the age of three and his first concert with orchestra at the age of six. Three years later, he entered the prestigious Gnessin State Musical College for gifted children (class of Mikhail Khokhlov) and the Tchaikovsky Conservatory (class of Eliso Virsaladze), both in Moscow. He has recently completed his studies with Epifanio Comis at the Istituto Musicale Vincenzo Bellini in Catania, Sicily, and with Arie Vardi at the Musikhochschule Hannover. He also won numerous prizes in competitions such as in Bolzano (Third Prize in 2013), Rio de Janeiro (Second Prize in 2014), Chopin in Warsaw (Sixth Prize in 2015), Queen Elisabeth in Brussels (finalist), and the Top of the World Competition in Tromsø (First Prize in 2017). Dmitry Shishkin has collaborated with orchestras such as the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia ‘Svetlanov Orchestra’, Russian National Orchestra, Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, National Orchestra of Belgium, Staatskapelle Weimar and Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, under the baton of Valery Gergiev, Vasily Petrenko, Mikhail Pletnev, Vladimir Fedoseev and Marin Alsop. His concert schedule includes performances at festivals including Dubrovnik Summer, Bergen, Chopin and His Europe, Brescia Bergamo, and he has been invited to perform recitals worldwide (Paris, Munich, Geneva, Ljubljana, Fribourg, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Taipei, Hong Kong, Singapore and Abu Dhabi). In 2019/2020, he made his debut in Japan with Tokyo Symphony Orchestra performing in Tokyo, Iwate and Osaka, as well as in South Africa with concerts in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. Highlights this coming season include recitals at Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, Düsseldorf Robert Schumann Saal, Hannover NDR Kleiner Saal, Paris La Scala, Lyon, Moscow Zaryade, St. Petersburg Mariinsky Concert Hall, Seoul Lotte Concert Hall and a tour of Australia, and as part of Festspiele Europäische Wochen Passau, Piano Loop Festival in Split, Città di Castello, Music in the Abbey Wąchock and Festival Armonie in Valcerrina. Nikoloz Rachveli The Rest is Silence Requiem for Holocaust and violence victims for mezzo-soprano, mixed choir and orchestra *40 min World premiere - 19.12 2016 at the Teatro alla Scala Georgian Premiere - 27.12.2017 at the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theatre This composition, which was specially created for Anita Rachvelishvili's concert at the Teatro alla Scala, is dedicated to the memory of people who have been tortured and killed unjustly. The final words from Shakespeare's Hamlet are used for a title. The work is based on a poem "Death Fugue”, written by an outstanding poet Paul Celan (1920-1970) about his experience in the Nazi concentration camps. Five-piece vocal cycle consists of Georgian poet Vazha Pshavela’s (1861-1915) poem “I could not save anyone” and poem about Jewish boy - 1st part, 2nd part - The Fest of the Tortured Souls, 3rd - Hebrew lullaby by Emanuel Harussi (1903- 1979), 4th - "Death Fugue" by Paul Celan, and 5th part - Postludium, where Paul Celan reads his own poem written in the concentration camp. After the premiere on December 27, 2017 the mesmerized public was silent for a long time before a standing ovation. "Although defending human rights is the supreme value of humanity, injustice and brutality remains an irreparable problem of nowadays. If we consider the Earth as a whole, we find that the largest percentage of its population is still sacrificed to dictatorship, repression, the death penalty, political and religious confrontations, terrorist acts and territorial conflicts. Mental and technological progress has failed to protect the most vulnerable people until today; the world is still full of displaced refugees, innocent prisoners fighting for the freedom of speech.

The Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt Since its move to Germany in 1990, the Georgian Chamber Orchestra has been based in Ingolstadt. The former orchestra-in-exile, with the support of the City of Ingolstadt, Audi and the Ingolstadt Sparkasse, has become a fixture in cultural life both locally and further afield. The ensemble’s concert series, which have taken place in Ingolstadt since 2001, enjoy consistently high subscription rates. The ensemble was founded in 1964 in Tbilisi/Georgia, as the Georgian State Chamber Orchestra; in 2014 it celebrated its fiftieth anniversary. After twenty-six years based in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, the orchestra moved to Ingolstadt, where it has made its second home for the last twenty-five years. Its new life in Bavaria is nothing other than a continuation of the old, under different conditions. Continuity is a principle of this very Eastern European orchestra, which always – including in exile – stayed true to its character. Even today the orchestra in Ingolstadt still consists almost of musicians from Georgia, the former Soviet Union, and Eastern Europe. The orchestra has been strongly artistically influenced by its director of many years, the violinist Liana Issakadze, as well as by conductors such as Lord Yehudi Menuhin and Kurt Masur. Between 2000 and 2006, Markus Poschner headed the ensemble, followed by Ariel Zuckermann until 2011. Lavard Skou Larsen then became chief conductor. In 2014 the Los Angeles-born conductor Benjamin Shwartz was Artistic Director, and now in 2015 the Armenian Ruben Gazarian leads from the podium of the Georgians. Gazarian has been Artistic Director of the renowned Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn since 2002.

ALEXEI VOLODIN, Piano Acclaimed for his highly sensitive touch and technical brilliance, Alexei Volodin is in demand by orchestras at the highest level. He possesses an extraordinarily diverse repertoire, from Beethoven and Brahms through Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Prokofiev and Scriabin to Gershwin, Shchedrin and Medtner. In the 2018/19 season, Volodin will return to Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, NCPA Orchestra China, BBC and Bournemouth symphony orchestras, as well as make debuts with Gulbenkian Orchestra, Japan Century Symphony Orchestra, St Petersburg Philharmonic and New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. Other recent highlights include engagements with Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Antwerp Symphony Orchestra and The Mariinsky Orchestra and under the baton of Dima Slobodeniouk, Kent Nagano, Robert Trevino and Valery Gergiev. On tour, Volodin will perform throughout Spain with the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Vladimir Fedoseyev. In recent seasons, he has toured Germany and Switzerland with SWR Sinfonieorchester and Pietari Inkinen, Germany with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra with Alexander Liebreich, and Latin America with Russian National Orchestra conducted by Mikhail Pletnev. Volodin regularly appears in recital and has performed in venues such as Wigmore Hall, Wiener Konzerthaus, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, LSO St. Luke’s, Barcelona’s Palau de la Música and Mariinsky Theatre. He has also appeared in Paris’ Philharmonie, London’s International Piano Series, Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatoire, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Munich’s Herkulessaal, Tonhalle Zürich and Madrid’s Auditorio Nacional de Música. An active chamber musician, he has a long standing collaboration with the Borodin Quartet with whom he performs regularly. In June 2019, he was awarded the Silver Medal at the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition and won First Prize (ex-aequo) at the 73rd Geneva International Music Competition the year before. Born in Chelyabinsk, Siberia, Shishkin demonstrated exceptional talent for the piano, giving his first solo recital at the age of three and his first concert with orchestra at the age of six. Three years later, he entered the prestigious Gnessin State Musical College for gifted children (class of Mikhail Khokhlov) and the Tchaikovsky Conservatory (class of Eliso Virsaladze), both in Moscow. He has recently completed his studies with Epifanio Comis at the Istituto Musicale Vincenzo Bellini in Catania, Sicily, and with Arie Vardi at the Musikhochschule Hannover. He also won numerous prizes in competitions such as in Bolzano (Third Prize in 2013), Rio de Janeiro (Second Prize in 2014), Chopin in Warsaw (Sixth Prize in 2015), Queen Elisabeth in Brussels (finalist), and the Top of the World Competition in Tromsø (First Prize in 2017). Dmitry Shishkin has collaborated with orchestras such as the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia ‘Svetlanov Orchestra’, Russian National Orchestra, Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, National Orchestra of Belgium, Staatskapelle Weimar and Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, under the baton of Valery Gergiev, Vasily Petrenko, Mikhail Pletnev, Vladimir Fedoseev and Marin Alsop.
