After finishing his studies with Yuri Bashmet in Moscow, Matthias Buchholz und Nobuko Imai at the Kronberg Academy, he is currently a student of Tabea Zimmermann at the Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler“ in Berlin. Georgy Kovalev has performed with leading orchestras, such as the Kremerata Baltica Chamber Orchestra, New Russia State Symphony Orchestra, Munich Chamber Orchestra, Moscow Soloists Chamber Orchestra and New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra among others. He is a prize winner and a finalist of international competitions such as Yuri Bashmet International Competition in Moscow, Tokyo International Viola Competition and Brahms International Competition. Preises beim renommierten internationalen ARD Wettbewerb in München aber auch bereits zuvor gewann er 1. Preise wichtiger internationaler Wettbewerbe unter denen besonders der internationale Gaspar Cassado Wettbewerb und der internationale Lutoslawski Wettbewerb hervorzuheben sind. Sein letzter Wettbewerb an dem er aktiv teilnahm und den er ebenfalls als 1. Preisträger gewann war der Grand Prix Emanuel Feuermann in Berlin, welcher unter der Schirmherrschaft von Daniel Barenboim erstmalig zum 100. Geburtstag des legendären Cellisten ausgetragen wurde. Erste Konzerte führten den Cellisten bereits im Alter von 17 Jahren in die Berliner Philharmonie. 2003 debütierte er schließlich im Musikverein in Wien, 2004 in der Suntory Hall in Tokio, 2006 in der Carnegie Hall in New York, 2008 in der Royal Albert Hall in London und 2010 in der Londoner Royal Festival Hall.

Winner of the prestigious Premio Chigiana 2017 and recently awarded the Grachtenfestival Prize, the 24 year old Dutch cellist belongs to the top rank of today's generation of cellists. She is the first prize winner of the International Isang Yun cello competition 2015, the Leopoldinum Award 2015, Prix Nicolas Firmenich 2013, Elisabeth Everts Award 2014, Prix Academie Maurice Ravel 2012, Dutch Musician of the Year 2012, first prize winner of the 2008 Princess Christina Competition and recipient of the special prize in ”recognition of an outstanding performance” at the Grand Prix Emanuel Feuermann 2014. After making her debut at the Concertgebouw at the age of 10, she has been performing in all the major halls of the Netherlands, and in many top halls in Europe and in the U.S. and Asia.
