The soils are packed with fossilized sea shells which, when you combine with the cooling salty influence of the sea, helps to create wines of real character. All these wines are coastal and would be a great partner with our fruits of the sea. Minerality, acidity and a real savoury edge are the order of the day here. We should also be grateful to Volcanic soil for protecting some of these varieties from extinction. Wijnfiche Pago Calzadilla - Opta Vino do Pago DO Spain (PAGO) — 2016 Domain Pago Calzadilla Pago Calzadilla is a domain of 26 hectares, of which 20 are planted with vineyards. The domain is located southeast of Madrid in the province of Cuenca. It is ideally located on the Rio Mayor in Huete. Since its foundation in 1980, it has been a family business dedicated to the production of quality wines. Pago Calzadilla was one of the first domains to receive this appellation. Vinification The vineyard is located on a hill at an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level. This specific plot contains a soil that mainly consists of sand with limestone. The wine ages 12 months in French and American oak barrels of 300 and 500 liters, as well as in large casks of 3500 L. Het Gildeglas Nr.3 2018/19 VINO de PAGO Proeverij o.l.v. Jan Vegter 8 oktober 2018 Afdeling Utrecht. NEDERLANDS WIJNGILDE , Afdeling Utrecht Pago de Cirsus Credit: Araex What is a Vino de Pago? The 21st century is showing us Spanish winemakers who want to embrace more finite classification methods and in turn make the higher-quality vineyards of the Iberian Peninsula more visible to the world's wine drinkers. One of the fruits of these efforts has been the "Vino de Pago" system that came into legal being in 2003. Perhaps a foreign term for people who don't know it yet, the easiest way to think of it is like a French-wide Grand Cru system that while based in Spain's Denominations of Origins (DOs) functions independently of them. It's important to note that within the reglon of Catalonia, a separate classification system exists only for their wines that functions in the same manner but is called "Vi de Finca". mmi5 PAÜ05 ÖE E5PANA Vino de Pago • In 2003 werd, door de overheid een nieuwe categorie aan het classificatiesysteenn toegevoegd, de DO Vino de Pago.
