I am glad to know that Mewat Engineering College (Waqf) is bringing out its prospectus for the academic session 2014-15. Global economic order, rapid rate of technological advancement, information technology revolution, all have opened new vistas of challenges as well as opportunities for young achievers. The ability to innovate and the capacity to adapt to latest technologies are going to be the forte in the new century. It is a daunting task for the educational institutions especially those imparting technical education to produce high grade engineers and technologists.

Mewat Engineering College has been established by the Haryana Waqf Board to achieve the above goals. This is a unique experiment, perhaps the only one of its kind in the country, where the Waqf Board of a state has come forward to set up an institution for providing professionals with the latest specialized knowledge and skills in the field of engineering and technology. The aim of the college is to provide an ideal ambience for learning and research. Top end facilities in the College will surely enthuse its students to hone their skills in a supporting environment. Their horizons will be sharpened and they will discover their creative and learning capabilities.

The College is progressing steadily. I have been apprised that now the college is going to enter into the fifth year of its existence. Its success within a short span of its existence shall certainly motivate the college management to excel further. I am confident that Mewat Engineering College will go a long way in achieving its mission to provide quality education to the children belonging to the minority community. My blessings and best wishes are with them.

P.K. Gupta Administrator Haryana Waqf Board From the Desk of CEO

Providing modern education alongside Islamic education to the minority community is credo of the Haryana Waqf Board. In addition to running various schools, vocational institutions, providing grants to number of schools and colleges; the Board has established Mewat Engineering College (Waqf) in village-Palla, Tehsil-, District-Mewat to impart quality higher technical education primarily to the deprived students belonging to Muslim minority community concentrated in backward area of Mewat region. The College is located 85 km from Delhi and 50 km south of millennium city of . It has successfully completed 4th year having five popular streams of engineering. It gives me immense satisfaction that the first Job Fair- 14 organized in the college campus come out as a great success. More than 25 reputed companies such as Air Asia, AirWise Soft Services, Scope Telecom, Shivam Autotech Ltd., Rasandik Engineering, Modern Tools Pvt. Ltd., Divyani International, Techizz Solutions, Paras Infrastructure, DigiCall, Expedia etc participated in the fair. In all, 164 offer letters were issued to the students of 4th year. Several bright students were able to get more than one job offers. A total of 50 students received confirmed jobs and placement results of 48 students are awaited. Mewat Engineering College (Waqf) has the status of minority institution but it is open to all sections of the society. At present, 690 students are pursuing their B.Tech Degree in various streams in the college. They are being supervised, taught and guided by 37 highly experienced faculty members. The Haryana Waqf Board, a body corporate established by the Government of Haryana, has set up this College entirely from its own revenue accrued from waqf properties in the form of rent and lease money. The infrastructure and faculty of the College are at par with any reputed engineering college of the country. The College has a majestic building having three-lac sq ft super area in the foothills of Aravallis with affordable fee structure approved by the State Fee Committee of the Government of Haryana. I am sure; this unique venture will definitely fulfill the Board’s mission of providing quality higher education to the students belonging to the most deprived sections of the society.

Technical Education, being skill and competency based, requires linkages with other institutions/universities in the country. Since the technology is changing very fast, it is not always possible to have each and every equipment for training in the institutions. The environment in an academic institution is quite different from the real world of work. Therefore, sharing of resources with the fellow institutions becomes imminent. The Mewat Engineering College (MEC) Waqf intends to develop collaboration with prestigious institutions like Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, and Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh to meet the need. Linkages with R & D Laboratories

Some of the reputed R & D Laboratories are located in the close proximity of the Mewat Engineering College (Waqf). The Haryana Waqf Board intends to develop appropriate linkages with R & D Laboratories to create research & development culture in the college. Initially, Memoranda of Understanding are proposed to be signed with DRDO Labs, National Physical Research Lab, New Delhi and subsequently more such linkages would be developed. Linkages with Industry

The Haryana Waqf Board has deliberately chosen the site for the Mewat Engineering College in the hub of the industry. Some of the prominent multi-national and Indian industries engaged in the manufacturing of automobiles, textile and carpet etc. are located in close proximity of the college. J&K student views about the college

Mewat Engineering College (Waqf) has not only fulfilled my educational needs but also encouraged me to move forward on the path to success. The trained and experienced faculty members of the college not only provide me technical education but also mould my personality and character through various modules of personality development and guest lectures. Studying at MECW is very delightful and enhances my ability. Nawaz Sharief Bhat

I am very happy to be associated with MECW. The faculty grooms us for personality development, motivation, communication skills, attitude and behaviours, do’s and don’ts during the course of interview, self esteem and confidence building etc to enable us to have good jobs in reputed organizations. This college is really a temple of knowledge. Many activities also happen along with my studies like sports, culture programmes, robotics etc. Imtiyaz Akbar Najar

MECW goes beyond the realms of the monotonous teaching-exam scenario and focuses on the overall development of its students. The institute ensures that its students are involved in various extra and co-curricular activities and events which make MECW a delightful experience for its students. Firdous Ahmad Malik

I feel myself very lucky that I study in the wonderful world of MECW. It is one of the best Engineering colleges in the Delhi NCR. I feel this is a place which provides a healthy learning environment to its students. It helps us to achieve academic excellence with a mastery of skills and sound understanding of concepts.
