The Executive Office of the Secretary-General of the United Nations presents its compliments to the Permanent Missions to the United Nations in New York and has the honour to invite Permanent Representatives to attend the launch of the Peacebuilding Fund which the Secretary-General established at the request of the General Assembly.
The launch will take place in the Economic and Social Council Chamber on 11 October 2006 from 10 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., and will be chaired by Ms. Carolyn McAskie, Assistant Secretary-General for Peacebuilding Support. The Secretary-General is expected to deliver the keynote address.
The Secretary-General invites participation at the senior level. Member States are kindly asked to return the attached registration form by 4 October 2006.
This senior level meeting will provide an opportunity for Member States, the United Nations and the broader international community to mobilize political and financial support for the Peacebuilding Fund. Member States and other participants are encouraged to take the opportunity of this launch to demonstrate their continued support to countries emerging from conflict by making a financial commitment towards the Fund. In this context, Member States are invited to make brief statements and to indicate their intention to do so on the attached registration form.
The Executive Office of the Secretary-General avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Permanent Missions to the United Nations in New York the assurances of its highest consideration.

Le Cabinet du Secretaire general des Nations Unies presente ses compliments aux missions permanentes aupres de 1'Organisation des Nations Unies a New York et a 1'honneur d'inviter les representants permanents a assister au lancement du Fonds pour la consolidation de la paix, que le Secretaire general a cre6 a la demande de 1'Assemblee generale.
Le lancement aura lieu dans la salle du Conseil economique et social le 11 octobre 2006 de 10 heures a 11 h 30, sous la presidence de Mme Carolyn McAskie, Sous-Secretaire generale a 1'appui a la consolidation de la paix. II est prevu que le Secretaire general prononce le discours d'ouverture.
Le Secretaire general souhaite une participation au plus haut niveau. Les Etats Membres sont pries de bien vouloir renvoyer le formulaire d'inscription ci-joint au plus tard le 4 octobre 2006.
Cette reunion de haut niveau sera 1'occasion pour les Etats Membres, 1'Organisation des Nations Unies et la communaute internationale dans son ensemble de mobiliser 1'appui politique et financier necessaire au Fonds pour la consolidation de la paix. Les Etats Membres et les autres participants sont encourages a s'en prevaloir pour montrer qu'ils continuent d'appuyer les pays qui sortent d'un conflit en se declarant prets a soutenir financierement le Fonds. Dans ce contexte, les Etats Membres qui souhaitent faire de breves declarations, sont pries de Pindiquer sur le formulaire d'inscription ci-joint.
Le Cabinet du Secretaire general saisit cette occasion pour renouveler aux missions permanentes aupres de 1'Organisation a New York les assurances de sa tres haute consideration.

La Oficina Ejecutiva del Secretario General de las Naciones Unidas saluda atentamente a las Misiones Permanentes ante las Naciones Unidas en Nueva York y tiene el honor de invitar a los Representantes Permanentes al acto de presentacion del Fondo para la Consolidacion de la Paz establecido por el Secretario General a solicitud de la Asamblea General.
El acto de presentacion tendra lugar el 11 de octubre de 2006, de las 10 horas a las 11.30 horas, en el Salon del Consejo Econ6mico y Social, y sera presidido por la Sra. Carolyn McAskie, Subsecretaria General de Apoyo a la Consolidacion de la Paz. Se espera que el Secretario General pronuncie el discurso de apertura.
El Secretario General insta que la participation sea al mas alto nivel. Se solicita a los Estados Miembros que devuelvan el formulario de inscripcion adjunto el 4 de octubre de 2006 a mas tardar.
La reunion de alto nivel brindara a los Estados Miembros, las Naciones Unidas y la comunidad internacional en general, la ocasion de movilizar apoyo politico y fmanciero al Fondo para la Consolidacion de la Paz. Se exhorta a los Estados Miembros y otros participantes a que aprovechen la oportunidad de esa presentacion para demostrar que siguen prestando apoyo a los paises que salen de situaciones de conflicto con un compromiso fmanciero destinado al Fondo. En ese contexto, se invita a los Estados Miembros a que formulen declaraciones breves y a que indiquen su intention de hacerlo en el formulario de inscripcion que se adjunta.
La Oficina Ejecutiva del Secretario General aprovecha la oportunidad para reiterar a las Misiones Permanentes ante las Naciones Unidas en Nueva York las seguridades de su consideration mas distinguida.
