CHÂTEAU DU TARIQUET France, Bas-Armgnac, Éauze

The story of Tariquet involves two world wars, two continents and two bears. During the late 19th century, many French country folk experienced financial hardship and were forced to emigrate. Among their number was a young man, named Artaud. Artaud lived in Ercé in Ariège. The little village is at the foot of the Pyrenees, and there were many mountain bears. Artaud learned bear taming, at which he was particularly adept. With his two bears in tow he left for America. In 1912, Artaud returned to France and happened upon the Tariquet wine estate in Éauze. His meagre savings were not enough to purchase the estate and so he invited his son, Jean-Pierre Artaud who lived in New York, to buy the property with him. As most of the vines had been destroyed by phylloxera, all that was left were seven hectares of vineyards in a sorry state. With the onset of the First World War, Jean-Pierre returned to France to fight, leaving his wife, Pauline, in New York. After the war, the couple travelled back to France. Upon their return they bore a child, Hélène. Meanwhile, on the other side of the Pyrenees, a Frenchman of Spanish- descent, Pierre Grassa, worked as a laborer. He enrolled with the Joinville battalion and during the Second World, Pierre’s unit was taken captive. Eventually, he escaped and fought with the French Resistance in Éauze. It was here that he met the lovely Hélène. They fell madly in love and painstakingly restored Tariquet. The estate began producing Bas- Armagnac once more. In 1972, with the help of two of his children, Yves and Maïté, Pierre established a company to sell their . The company had received much acclaim and produces a wide range of Bas- Armagnacs.

4 BRANDY

WESTERN GRACE DISTILLING Spain, Barcelona, Mexico, Puebla Western Grace Distilling was founded by two business partners, Kevin Beyer and Dave Welty. After 18+ years of developing and reinvigorating spirits brands for their clients, they decided to do it for themselves. With little innovation in brandy over the last 50 years, Kevin and Dave took control of the narrative and created a brandy that people were unfamiliar with – a “new” brandy which is drier, less sweet, and more versatile in the glass. Partnering with Full Package Spirits, the makers of Milagro, Ancho Reyes and Montelobos, Kevin and Dave launched Western Grace Brandy in the summer of 2016. Like Lewis & Clark leading western expansion with a supply of brandy at the ready (true story!), Kevin & Dave are fueling the future of brandy cultivated from the character and quality of the original varietals.

BRANDY

Western Grace is an Old World brandy from La Mancha—the Spanish birthplace of brandy—where grapes have been cultivated and distilled for spirits since the 13th century. Made from Xarel-lo, Macabeo, and Parel- lada grapes cultivated under a strict regimen, the liquid is solera-aged in American oak, then rounded out in vats, with a final touch of barrels for an added layer of complexity. The result is a smooth and balanced, full-flavored brandy with notes of oak, grape, vanilla, walnut, hazelnut, and cocoa—an ideal, versatile brandy for traditional neat serves and craft mixology alike.

5 DISTILLERIE VINET DELPECH France Almost 250 years after its origin, Distillerie Vinet-Delpech has created the brand "Les Brûleries Modernes", in charge of the group's brands. The word “modernes” is self-explanatory – but what about the word “Brûlerie”? This word (which means "the act of burning") dates back to the fifteenth century, originally referring to the place where distilleries “burn” (distill) the Eaux-de-vie. In other words, the phrase Les Brûleries Modernes symbolizes a blend of the traditional and contemporary, a long history paired with top infrastructure (13 pot stills, 22,000 hectolitre tank storage, 3 bottling lines), a 100 hectare HVE certified sustainable vineyard in the best cognac areas, as well as a young and multicultural team. Delpech Fougerat cognac is distilled with lees in traditional Charente style stills. The grapes come from estate vineyards which extend to one hundred hectares around the Petite Champagne and Fin Bois “terroirs”.

HAWTHORN’S NEW! United Kingdom, Birmingham

LONDON DRY GIN

US BRITS LOVE THE SEA… rain, hail or shine, we make our way to the coast in droves to enjoy windswept walks, the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks and the salty air on our skin. At Hawthorn’s we’ve bottled that feeling in one perfect, citrusy, smooth, not-so-classic London Dry gin. First crafted in 1942 by salty sea-dog Commander ‘Skip’, who distilled botanicals collected during his tours of foreign seas. Skip would then share his “damn fine” drop, smuggling it on-board for his battle-weary crew. Years later, his grandson discovered his recipe in his secret wartime diary and recreated it in his name. Just as Skip shared his creation with his crew, we want to share their discovery with you! Welcome to Hawthorn’s – one sip and you’ll be all at sea. Hawthorn’s. Crafted at Sea.

BODEGAS JORGE ORDONEZ-MONTSANT NEW! Spain, Tarragon, Falset

VERMOUTH FALSET NEGRE NV

This cooperative was founded in 1912 and now has more than 250 families in the D.O of Monsant where they have lived in the villages of Falset and Marça for generations making wine, vermouth and olive oil. Vermut Falset is made using Grenache and Carignane grapes, which are then fermented on their skins just like in production. The result is a very aromatic wine with a deep red color. When the wine is ready, it is fined, filtered and a special infusion is added made up of 120 different herbs which will be left to macerate for more than a year in 500 and 600 litre oak barrels. The exact proportions and components which make up the infusion are a faithful reproduction of the original recipe which Cooperativa Falset Marçà was using since 1919. This infusion is added then to the base wine in suitable proportions, the sweetness is corrected and it is left to rest for nearly three years in 225 Liter oak vats. No caramel is added. The vermouth is bottled in small quantities and the vats are refilled and never completely emptied. Vermut Falset is bottled without any physical or chemical modifications which may cause some settling in the bottom of the bottle over time. We can enjoy the red version of Vermut Falset after nearly fifty years since it was last made. By pure chance it was recovered the original formula which was lost back in the sixties. Black Maple Hill was first introduced in 2000. The early releases are said to be bottled by Julian Van Winkle III himself. The magical touch of Van Winkle conferred an irresistible desirability, and bottles began to sell for thousands of dollars. Demand out-weighted the sourcing, and eventually Paul Joseph, owner of CVI Brands, decided to look for another source. Enter Stein Distillery, a small family-owned craft distillery in Joseph, Oregon. Very important to production, the distillery grows their own grain, so they have 100% control of the quality. Black Maple Hill was re-introduced in 2014. 18 SCOTCH COOPER'S CHOICE “The Coopers Choice range of single cask from Scotland’s finest distilleries is our homage to these fine craftsmen and their important role in the industry” There are 3 types of casks commonly used in the Scotch Whisky industry; the sherry butt, which holds about 500 liters. The hogshead which holds about 250 liters, and the barrel, 195 liters. These are mostly made of American oak which has already been used to mature Bourbon whisky. The time Scotch Whisky spends in the cask has a profound effect as it is not only allows the whisky to mellow and mature but most importantly, to take on some e of the characteristics of the wood. In recent years, it has become increasingly popular to “finish” mature malts and grains by resting them for a further short period in casks which have previously held other wines. Thus, we can now have Scotch Whiskies finished in Port Pipes, various , Madeira wines and even casks. With Coopers Choice, we embrace the variety of flavors different casks offer to our whiskies and we are sure you will enjoy. CROFTENGEA 10 YR., 2006 - * SINGLE CASK * Scotland, Highland, Alexandria "A Loch Lomond Distillery malt matured in an ex-bourbon barrel. Very pale ecru/bisque/tarnished silver color; absolute clarity. I find the first aromas to be racy, clean, acidic, citrusy, vegetal, tobacco ash-like, and grainy all at the same time and in equal measure; secondary sniffs encoun- ter many of the same first-round impressions of youthful vigor, fueled by cereal-like malt and cigar tobacco fragrances...Entry is keenly fresh, car- bolic, seaweed-like, and zesty and it's here, at last, where the peat smoke comes...in nuances of tobacco ash, sea salt, salted fish and iodine; what I notice most at midpalate is the rich creaminess of the silky texture that blankets the palate in layers of flavor. Aftertaste is vigorous, piney, moder- ately salty, and controlled in its smokiness." Highly Recommended, Spirit Journal, Paul Picault

ROYAL BRACKLA 10 YR., 2006, MARSALA CASK FINISH * SINGLE CASK * Scotland, Highland, Cawdor

Founded in the Findhorn Valley of the Highland Speyside in 1812, this distillery was the first distillery to receive a Royal Warrant in 1835. We can see why! The quality of this dram is apparent starting with a nose of lush honeydew melon and guava while the palate remains dry and creamy. The cask finish brings out lovely hints of apple and cinnamon. This rare finish makes for a beautifully balanced and exciting dram.Only 360 bottles produced.

BUNNAHABHAIN 14 YR., 2001, SHERRY CASK FINISH * SINGLE CASK * Scotland, Islay, Bunnahabhain

"100% sherry oak cask. Attractive sepia/topaz color; completely sediment free. Wow, the upshot on the opening nosing pass is a robust maltiness that's hearty, floral, slightly salty, briny, with a hint of Oloroso Sherry lurk- ing in the background; more aeration brings about a seductive fruitiness that's raisiny, dried, and pruny - this is not your typical ethereal Bunna- habhain, mates. Entry is brazenly raisiny, bittersweet, honeyed, and supple in texture; midpalate builds upon the entry impressions, adding notes of candied peach, almond paste, cinnamon, clove, and hazelnut..." Highly Recommended, Spirit Journal, Paul Picault

If you are interested in quality single malt whisky, then you have come to the right place. We have been bottling single malts for over 25 years with you in mind. Only the best single casks are selected and bottled at cask strength. We don’t want to take anything away from the natural flavors of the whiskies, so there is no chillfiltration. Equally we don’t want to add anything to a good product, so no coloring is added. Just natural whisky, with maybe just a little help from a good bourbon or sherry cask. The quality of our bottlings has been recognized over the years with the receipt of several awards and the general approval of whisky writers. Have a look at our current bottling list. We are sure you will find something you like. For that special bottle of single malt, just contact your local importer and he will put you in touch with your nearest retailer. And don’t forget to come and see us next time you visit a whisky fair.

JAMES MACARTHUR BUNNAHABHAIN 5 YR. 2009 Scotland, Islay, Bunnahabhain This classic Islay distillery has produced exceptional whisky since 1881. This limited bottling of 400 bottles was chosen because it possesses the qualities which have made the distillery famous. It is soft, creamy, nutty and clean with a touch of sea air and peat. A very pretty dram indeed.
