RULLING THE MIDDLE KINGDOM PRESENTED BY Six- to twelve-year-olds have aged out of preschool content, but there's little made just for them. They’re hard to target with content because at this age interests and passions diverge and fragment. They’re outgrowing tablets but only just getting a smartphone. They often lose the TV remote to little siblings during the day and parents at night. So, it’s a challenge for video, game, app and product makers to connect with them at scale. There’s a gap to be filled, but you have to understand the age group’s changing needs, beliefs and passions. If you can connect, the “middle kingdom” is establishing long-term brand and content preferences, and love to share their favorites with their peers.

SPEAKERS: • Adam Woodgate | Senior Research Manager, Dubit • David Kleeman | SVP Global Trends, Dubit

A TALKING YELLOW SPONGE, A LITTLE PINK PIGLET AND PRESENTED BY OTHER STRANGER THINGS: SHOWS KIDS LOVE AND WHY With the advent of binge-viewing through a multitude of platforms, kids have the ultimate control over what kids shows they want to watch, and how and where they want to watch them. They’re offered an enormous array of kids and family programming from around the globe: drama, comedy, live-action, animation, hybrid, serial and episodic. What is it that makes Sponge Bob Squarepants or Peppa Pig an international, multi-season hit? What is it that draws kids to a TV show, a movie, a cartoon, a video game, or a character? Are there shows that kids like to watch while playing video games, or video games they like to play while watching shows? And what does co-viewing look like nowadays? What draws kids to shows that their parents and caregivers like? Is TV the best medium for kids, or have the platforms taken over? We’ll get a glimpse into all of these questions through insightful, candid, funny interviews with Canadian kids aged 5 to 15 about what shows they love and why they love them.

SESSION HOST: • Maria Kennedy | Producer & Co-Founder Little Engine Moving Pictures
