(Svetaivatara Upani~ad 6.23) mong all the eternal living beings, one living being is the Supreme Eternal. He is the Supreme Lord, and all others are Hjs servan ts. The Lord has many names, but the name Kr~Qa is uruversal, for this meansA "all-attractive." Every one of us has an eternal relationship with ~Qa that we have somehow forgotten. Unless we revive this dormant relationship, we cannot have peace and happiness either individually, naHonally or on a global scale. ~l)a is not a myth, a legend or the subject of an allegory. Nor is He an impersonal light or vague omniscient force. He is a person, the Supreme Person. He lives, and we can live with ffim. As one needs the help of a qualified teacher to understand the material sciences, one also needs a qualified teacher to understand the science of God. Such a teacher is the spiritual master. A genuine spiritual master must be able to instruct his students in the practical details of understanding who God is, what our relationship with Him is, and how this relationshjp can be revived. Having received scientific instruction in God conscious ness from revealed Vedic scriptures, the devotees of the K~Qa consciousness movement assert with conviction- a convicUon nourished both by Vedic knowledge and by practical experience- that Kr~Qa is the Supreme Personality of Godhead and that ffis Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada is the genuine spiritual master who can teach us how to know ffim , how to love ffim, and how to go back to Him- back home, back to Godhead. With this special issue of Back to Godhead, wruch celebrates the appearance anniversaries of our spiritual master, Lord K~1,1a and ~!)a's eternal consort, Srimati RiidharaQi, we invite intelligent, broad-minded people to study and understand this K~Qa consciousness movement for their own eternal benefit and the benefit of others. 0 Back to Godhead 1 Pho to: Bhllrgava dasa BACK TO GODHEAD THE MAGAZINE OF THE HARE KRISHNA MOVEMENT FOUNDER (un~er the direction of His Divine Grace CONTENTS Sri Sr1mad 8hakrisiddh5nta Sarasvati Prabhupada) His Divine Grace A.C. • Preface to Laghu-Bhagavatamrta a Spiritual Book by Srila Rupa Gosvami
Preface to Laghu-Bhagavatamrta a spiritual book by Srila Rupa Gosvami To our esteemed readers, this work by Srila Rupa Gosvami has been translated by Sriman Kusakratha Dasa, late disciple of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada - Founder-Acarya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. Biographical material can be found at the end of this work. This is Volume One of Three. Laghu-Bhagavatamrta establishes the Transcendental Form of Govinda, as the Primieval Form of Godhead, containing the fullest expression of Transcedental Sweetness and Qualities. It is a monumental work to say the least, and rare to find in print. We thank Sriman Kusakratha prabhu for his hard work in devotion, inspired by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Kusakratha prabhu’s books always began with a dedication to his spiritual master His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada ‘nama om visnu-padaya krishna-presthaya bhutale srimate Bhaktivedanta swamin iti namine “I offer my respectful obeisances unto Srila Prabhupada, who is very dear to Lord Krsna, having taken shelter at His lotus feet.” namaste sarasvate devam gaura-vani pracarine nirvesesa sunyavadi, pascatya desa tarine” “Our respectful obeisances are unto you, O spiritual master, servant of Sarasvati Gosvami. • By Veeraswamy Krishnaraj This Is Not the Official Site of Sri Guruvayoorappan Temple
By Veeraswamy Krishnaraj This is not the official site of Sri Guruvayoorappan Temple. Guruvayurappan Temple had a humble beginning in a hall in the said address several years ago, though its greatness was not any less than now. Then, it was a modest shrine; its grandeur is yet to manifest. The devotees saw the girders rise against the azure sky with fluffy clouds. The building rose around the steel girders through rain, shine, storm and snow in the middle of the woods to the delight of the devotees and the astute planners. Its vista is spectacular. I tried to capture its beauty surrounded by verdant woods turning colors from spring to fall. The trees and the spring and the summer leaves bore witness to the devotees coming and going with reverence in their hearts. As the rains came down from the heavens, each leaf shed its tears of joy to see the temple rise from mother earth. The temple bears rainbow colors on its exterior and its architecture is wonderful. Could this location be Brindavanam of North America? Could this have been where Krishna sported with Gopis in His youth. Such thoughts come up in the mind. See the splash of colors in this portrait bearing witness to the colorful persona of Bhagavan Krishna. The Morganville Temple the namesake of Gurvayur Sri Krishna Temple in Kerala houses Guruvayoorappan as the central deity. Its broad appeal is that the temple houses other deities. The presiding deity is MahaVishnu in the form of Krishna with Tulasi garland, in standing posture with four hands carrying Sankhu (conch), Sudarshana chakram (a serrated disk), lotus and mace.

Nityotsavaa - Daily festival Date: 2004-09-13 Author: Vaijayantimala devi dasi Hare Krishna dear Prabhujis and Matajis, Please accept my humble pranams! All Glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudev! Last week we had wonderful celebrations on the occasion of Janmashtami, the appearance day of Lord Shri Krishna! The advent of Lord Krishna gives everyone of us so much of joy, peace and happiness. Every one of us wants to have Krishna as our child! We are all wondering as to what will attract the Lord to come and play with us? When Krishna appeared as the son ofVasudeva and Devaki, He explained to them the reasons why He accepted them as His parents. Krishna appreciated the austerities undergone by both of them in their previous lives by which they cleansed their minds of all dirty things. Then the Lord says, "Since I found no one else as highly elevated as you in simplicity and other qualities of good character, I appeared in this world as Prsnigarbha, or one who is celebrated as having taken birth from Prsni." Thus the Lord glorifies, "Śīla-audārya guṇa" - the transcendental qualities of good character and magnanimity of Vasudeva and Devaki and this attracted the Lord to accept them as His parents three times. Vasudeva exhibited these great qualities when he delivered his first born son, named Kirtiman, to Kamsa for killing, in order to keep up the promise he had made to Kamsa. Immediately on telling this to Maharaj Parikshit, Sukadev Goswami was so overwhelmed thinking of the wonderful quality of Vasudeva and he says, SB 10.1.58 kiṁ

CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION 1.1 Problem Background The conceptualization of God has been a psychological approach to explore the meaning of existence and creation. He has become the root of growth in human consciousness. God is the primary idea with whom man is concerned for his existence. The primitive human mind cannot find any reason behind the mystery of creation. 1 It looks at occurrences in nature with a sense of awe and cannot justify the growth of plants, the birth of men and animals, the motion of the Earth, Sun and the stars. Man therefore concluded the presence of some mysterious power acting behind such miracles. He wanted to define the phenomenal changes observable in nature and man. He discovered and realized a powerful life force that shapes all things and events on the Earth. He became keen to see the invisible through the visible and the unreal through the real. He became visionary by nature and pondered over all such mysterious happenings in creation. 2 To solve this overwhelming mystery of creation, many nations have developed their own ideology, or, most commonly, accepted revealed scriptures and made them their religion or living culture. The Encarta Concise Dictionary defines 1. Narendra Nath Bhattacharya (1974), History of the Sakta Religion . New Delhi: Munshiram Manoharlal, p. 188. 2. Rabiprasad Mishra (2000), Theory of Incarnation: Its Origin and Development in the Light of Vedic and Puranic References .
