Premier Auction Galleries is please to offer items from the following: Estate of William Gwinn Mather, Cleveland, Ohio. William Gwinn Mather (American, 1857-1951) headed the Cleveland-Cliffs Iron Company from 1890 to 1940. The company's flagship bulk freighter was named in his honor, and today serves as a maritime museum in Cleveland, Ohio. Mather is known for the grandiose estate he built outside of Cleveland. The gardens on the premises were designed by Charles A. Platt, Ellen Biddle Shipman, and Warren H. Manning. They were named for Mather's mother Elizabeth Lucy Gwinn. These gardens include a mixture of formal and exotic flora amongst a plethora of statuary and fountains designed by known sculptors. Private Collection of Jennie Jones, Cleveland, Ohio. Jennie was a longtime commercial architecture photographer in Cleveland. Her work includes the documentation of major Cleveland projects including TRW, Inc., Tower City Center, the old Post Office, Gateway and the east wing of the Cleveland Public Library. In 1986, she published Cleveland: A Celebration In Color, which sold out two editions. Her second book Celebration II: Cleveland In Color was published in 1991. Her photography has appeared in World Architecture, Inland Architect, Forbes, Fortune Magazine, as well as local major Cleveland publications. Estate of Egon Vicai, Cleveland, OH. After coming to America from Hungary in 1951, Egon was a chief engineer for General Electric.
