It’s been a very long weekend. We are filled with love. Thank you for giving us your time that we may see the world of travel in a different perspective for forefathers, family and friends, a day to remember our depart- ed and the good Christians who have long been gone. To mark this day, we have the honor and pleasure to have with us a great friend, a man of conviction, a man of great knowledge, a friend who is always there for anyone who needs his help. We thank him for the help he gave us in our endeavors in Marawi. Thank you for giving us your time that we may see the world of travel in a different perspective. I also called on all members of the Rotary Club of Manila to step forward and help your club in its appointed leadership to The Rotary Foundation Gala Night celebration. Because of the tre- mendous success of our gala night in the centennial celebration, District Governor Liza Elorde has chosen our club and specifi- cally, Vice President Hermie Esguerra, to lead this great event this year. This is truly a great honor. Let us all be there to support Hermie! Let us all be there to support our club. This will show the true colors of our club’s perceived and real leadership in the Rotary movement. I call on every member to get a half page in our souvenir program for just Php 5,000 showing a greeting or a picture of their family or a short message just to show support to Hermie and our club. Please do this. Your Chair, Jimmie, has lined up some very good speakers for up- coming meetings. We have on November 14, 2019, Department of Agriculture Secretary William Dar, courtesy of Raffy Alunan and on November 21, 2019, University of the Philippines President Atty. Danny Concepcion, compliments of our UP members. I rec- ommend that I chair and the UP alumni in our club organize a great meeting for this day.

Said complaint, docketed as Civil Case No. 7864 and entitled: "Quirino Baterna vs. Mariano Diolosa and Alegria Villanueva-Diolosa", was dismissed by the trial court after hearing. Thereafter, private respondent elevated the case to respondent court whose decision is the subject of the present petition. • The American Colonial and Contemporary Traditions
THE AMERICAN COLONIAL AND CONTEMPORARY TRADITIONS The American tradition in Philippine architecture covers the period from 1898 to the present, and encompasses all architectural styles, such as the European styles, which came into the Philippines during the American colonial period. This tradition is represented by churches, schoolhouses, hospitals, government office buildings, commercial office buildings, department stores, hotels, movie houses, theaters, clubhouses, supermarkets, sports facilities, bridges, malls, and high-rise buildings. New forms of residential architecture emerged in the tsalet, the two-story house, and the Spanish-style house. The contemporary tradition refers to the architecture created by Filipinos from 1946 to the present, which covers public buildings and private commercial buildings, religious structures, and domestic architecture like the bungalow, the one-and-a-half story house, the split-level house, the middle-class housing and the low-cost housing project units, the townhouse and condominium, and least in size but largest in number, the shanty. History The turn of the century brought, in the Philippines, a turn in history. Over three centuries of Spanish rule came to an end, and five decades of American rule began. The independence won by the Philippine Revolution of 1896 was not recognized by Spain, nor by the United States, whose naval and military forces had taken Manila on the pretext of aiding the revolution. In 1898 Spain ceded the Philippines to the United States, and after three years of military rule the Americans established a civil government. With a new regime came a new culture. The English language was introduced and propagated through the newly established public school system.
