* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Notes to the transcription: A capital J, as in John, looks precisely like a capital I as in Isabel The first half of a capital H or capital K look exactly like a capital J. and there is only slight difference between the H & K All writing is in the same hand except the signatures of the Church wardens (unless their signatures are indicated by mark) P, R, and B all have the same appearance except for the lower right side of the letter. A capital S sits on the baseline of other letters, and looks just like the capital L without the horizontal stroke. Of course all 'the's are written 'ye' and in the dates of baptisms & burials, there is always a 'ye' included: "April the 9th". Some of these dates were difficult to understand, but as they are always in sequence and almost always have the superscript, some could be deduced: an 'st' demands a 1, 21 or 31, 'd' demands a 2, 3, 22 or 23 In the following place name index, where a parish is named but not identified as a parish in the text, I have shown "Parish of" in parentheses after the name. All place names that are not parish names and which can be identified are shown with the parish name in parentheses. All names in the index are given in the modern spelling.
