  • July 2019 at 7.00Pm
Minutes of a meeting of Leyburn Town Council held in the Oak Room, Thornborough Hall on Monday, 15th July 2019 at 7.00pm PRESENT: Cllr Alderson Cllr Beswick Cllr Holder Cllr Medley Cllr Sanderson Cllr Waites Cllr Walker IN ATTENDANCE: Cllr Sedgwick Mrs C Smith- Clerk Ms Rebecca Hurst- Deputy Clerk Representatives from the Police and Hambleton & Richmondshire Fire Service Four members of the public 4229. PUBLIC REPRESENTATIONS Residents raised concerns over the increase in dog fouling in the Rowan Court area and expressed dissatisfaction with the standard of the verges cutting. Cllr Sedgewick reported back to the Council on a meeting attended with the highways improvement manager to discuss the safety of Moor rd. Highways responded to the following four proposed solutions to improve pedestrian safety; 1. A painted footway on the road –May give false sense of security to pedestrians. 2. Waiting restrictions painted on the carriageway-This would prevent parking on the road, however the highways consider that the parked cars act as traffic calming and slow the traffic down. 3. A pedestrian activated sign 4. Creating a priority over oncoming vehicles- This may cause congestion of traffic backing up the road. Cllr Sedgewick concluded by informing the Council that the highways do not consider Moor Road safety as a high priority, therefore no further steps will be taken at the moment due to financial restrictions. Cllr Sedgewick also updated the council that Metcalfe farms have installed signage at the end of their road instructing traffic to turn right to try to reduce the traffic on Moor Road.

  • Programme of Events 2015/16
Programme of Events 2015/16 Welcome to Parcevall Hall Nestled in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales and set in 24 acres of beautiful formal and woodland gardens lies Parcevall Hall, a place for retreat and spiritual renewal, underwritten by Christian principles. With excellent facilities for conferences retreats and holidays, the Hall offers the comfort and character of an old house, the peace of a rural setting and the scenic beauty of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Available to private individuals as well as to religious or secular groups, the Hall can be booked for residential conferences and holidays or for day groups and evening functions. History of the Hall The oldest part of what was originally Persevall’s Ferme is believed to date back to at least 1586. It was bought by Sir John Yorke, lived in by his son Peter and then left to his second son, Thomas, in 1589. In 1671 additions were made by Christopher Lowson and his bride, Elizabeth, who lived in the house until his death in 1695. For the next two centuries, the house was occupied by a succession of farmers and tenants, including the Yorke family again for a brief spell in the 19th century. 1 Gradually, however, the house fell into a state of virtual dereliction until, in the depths of the depression of the 1920s, it was bought by Sir William Milner. Sir William was the 8th Baronet of Nun Appleton, a godson of Queen Mary and an architect by profession with a love of gardens, plants and meticulous attention to detail in restoring old buildings.

Yorkshire & The Humber Woodfuel Directory 2011 www.forestry.gov.uk/yhwoodfuel Atmospheric carbon dioxide, water and sunlight Woodfuel CO2 Lean Fuel Carbon released back into the atmosphere Converted into new plant material through photosynthesis Which is harvested and burnt 2 Yorkshire & The Humber Woodfuel Directory 2011 www.forestry.gov.uk/yhwoodfuel Introduction Yorkshire and The Humber is a diverse and varied “region with a long history of power generation and solid fuel installations, previously based on the region’s coal resource. This, when combined with the potential to secure a signifi cant increase in biomass from the region’s under-managed woodlands, gives us a unique opportunity to help continue our move to a low U Rudie Humphrey carbon economy through the use of renewable energy. The development of the Woodfuel Strategy (launched in 2005) was seen as a key step in taking forwards the opportunities that woodfuel across the region presents. This fi rst regional directory is a manifestation of this. Its aim is to reinforce the links in the woodfuel supply chain in order to ensure consistent and effective delivery on the ground. The priorities are drawn from the already agreed regional ‘Vision for Biomass’ – connecting suppliers with producers was one of its key objectives. The Forestry Commission now seeks to build on the work of the South Yorkshire Woodfuel cluster and the supply chain development programme; the Wood Energy Co-ordinator recruitment in the White Rose Forest; and Yorkshire Woodfuels co-ordinated by Yorwoods. We are grateful to all of these partners and the Biomass Energy Centre who have proved vital in the development of this directory.
