3 REETH AND DISTRICT GAZETTE LTD Letter To The Editor

An Idea Congratulations on your 6th place out of 600+ in the National Parish Magazine Awards. Well done. I'm reading a novel titled 51st State, and much enjoying it. Why do I say this? Because the thought occurred to me that you might like to have a Book of the Month piece in the Gazette. You could invite readers to suggest a book - not necessarily a novel - describe it briefly, and say why they liked it. A column filler perhaps, but may be useful as such to you. Here's my offering: 51st State, a novel by Peter Preston. It is a political satire, first published in 1998, and very funny. Given the goings on in the Western world today the plot is apposite, and to an extent even prescient. 47 REETH AND DISTRICT GAZETTE LTD The Punch Bowl Inn And Coffee House - Rolling With The Times

The Punch Bowl Inn at Low Row has been a well loved watering hole for over a century - a place where travellers can stop to rest and gain refreshment.

This year, the management of The Punch Bowl have decided to add a new dimension to the pub’s friendly welcome: we’ve added a coffee house so our customers can call in and enjoy freshly brewed barista coffees and teas along with homemade cakes baked by our in-house chefs. Try Yorkshire Parkin made to a traditional recipe, or luscious slices of Rocky Road, caramel flapjacks, chocolatey brownies, and mouth wateringly crisp cookies, not to mention pannini and sandwiches, meaning the hungry passer-by can enjoy a range of delicious treats throughout the day.

This is all in addition to The Punch Bowl’s regular lunch and dinner menu. The Inn also offers 11 beautifully decorated rooms - why not try one of our House Parties. Go to www.cbinnevents.co.uk for more information.
