The Role of Organizational Culture in Christian Organizations for Job Satisfaction and Staff Retention with Special Reference to Bharat Susamachar Samiti ABSTRACT THE ROLE OF ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE IN CHRISTIAN ORGANIZATIONS FOR JOB SATISFACTION AND STAFF RETENTION WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO BHARAT SUSAMACHAR SAMITI by Kuriakose Madathil Iype The goal of any organization is continuity and survival as that of any living species. Bharat Susamachar Samiti (BSS) is a charitable and philanthropic Christian organization rendering its service to the church and society. Staff attrition was one of the important issues BSS was facing in its growth and development. The purpose of this research was to understand the role of the organizational culture in Christian organizations for job satisfaction and staff retention with special reference to BSS. The basic premises of the research were based on two grounds. First all organizations possess a culture and a basic impulse to survive. The members of the organization are assimilated into a common culture, and thus the continuity of the organization is ensured. Second the individual who joins the Christian organizations come with their own motivations of call, commitment, vision, mission and culture. To unearth the facts, four research instruments including open and closed ended questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, one focus group and a pre-post intervention study were conducted. A total number of thirty-eight staff members in which eight former BSS staff and thirty current staff members participated. The findings of the research clearly pointed out that job dissatisfaction and cultural incongruence were the main causes for the problem. The job satisfaction and cultural congruence can be brought to the organization by catering to the physiological, psychological and spiritual needs of the staff members. Moreover, servant model leadership, based on participative and partnership oriented organizational culture, contribute to the job satisfaction and staff retention level in Christian organizations. The cultural congruence can be brought to the Christian organizations by shared leadership approach and relational leadership methodology that continues communication, counselling and mentoring of the staff members.     McComas Taylor The Australian National University Village Deity and Sacred Text Power Relations and Cultural Synthesis at an Oral Performance of the Bhāgavatapurāṇa in a Garhwal Community A week-long festival centered on stories about the deity Kṛṣṇa was held in the hamlet of Naluna, Garhwal district, Northern India. This practice (known as a saptāh) is primarily a product of an elite Hindu community of the North Indian Plain. Two loci of power were identified: the village deity represent- ing local authority, and the text-as-artifact of the Bhāgavatapurāṇa, the metonymy of the authority of the recently imported cultural practice. The role of each locus and their interaction are considered. While earlier theoreti- cal frameworks for understanding interactions between communities in the hills and plains have stressed dichotomies, this paper seeks to characterize the processes using a metaphor of hospitality. Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate vertical and angular photometric norms & to identify sexual dimorphism in Garhwali population. Material & Methods: Study was carried out on 70 Individuals (35 males and 35 females) in the department of Anatomy, of age group between 18 to 25 years. Standardized photographs were taken in natural head position using a digital camera. The vertical and angular measurements were taken and statistical analyses. Results: The lower face was greater than the middle face in both males and females. All vertical measurements were statistically insignificant in gender differentiation. The difference between mean values of nasofrontal angle was found statistically significant in males and females. Conclusions: Garhwali's have bigger lower face with prominent nose.     LITERATURE REVIEW Garhwali lok geet or folk music is blessed with such a divine virtue that after listening it, we automatically feel the nature of Garhwal and sense of natural melody comes in our heart. Garhwali songs or music is basically related to the various festivals, folk stories and simple life of people in Uttarakhand. Garhwali music and Garhwali lok geet is integrated in every part of Uttarakhand. Anybody can feel the music of Garhwal once they enter in the divine land. Number of people has done research on Garhwali folk literature but not in Translating Garhwali Folk Songs in a form of English Poetry. Even though without reference of Dr. Nautiyal ji book Garhwal Ka Lok Sangeet aur Vadya 1 as well as ‘Khuded’ geet. My research work may be half done. Dr. Nautiyal expressed the means of music which are generally used in folk songs. He published his researches with logical analysis. He portrayed the various aspect of life of Garhwali people through his folk songs. On the other hand Dr. Ramesh Chandra Pokhriyal gave vivid pictures of Nanda Devi Raj Jaat 2 published in 2008. The book contained Garhwali religious Jhumeila and Chaunphula which are part of folk songs. This book is also known Himalay Ka Mahakumbh. It gives the commentary of the longest journey of the pilgrims in the world in sake of Lord Shiva and Parwati. The beauty of the nature and the peoples’ faith towards the god and goddess is enriched. Abodh Bandhu Bahuguna published his book Dhunyal 3 in 1954 which is the first work of analyzing and classifying the Garhwali folk songs such as Jaagar, khuded geet, buraans, chauphula etc.

My questions address language and education issues in the Kumaun 1) in relation to national policies and local ideologies, 2) as experienced and negotiated by young women, and 3) as applied in a unique Gandhian educational context. Based at Lakshmi Ashram, a Gandhian boarding school serving disadvantaged girls, I used ethnographic methods, focusing on a group of Kumauni young women. National-level language planning through the Indian Census, Constitution, and educational policies minimize some diversity. Locally, discourses about language and dialect, or bhasha and boli, and mother tongue allow for flexible categories and identities. Medium of instruction also takes new meaning through informal multilingual classroom practices.

Pant Institute of animal husbandry Engineering and Technology, Ghurdauri, Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, India Arun Bhatt and Kumar Pavan Agarwal Abstract The Uttarakhand Himalyan region has a great wealth of medicinal plants and traditional medicinal 0 ’ 0 ’ 0 ’ 0 ’ knowledge. Garhwal Himalaya (29 45 N-31 27 N latitude and 77 45 E-80 7 E longitudes) has been known as source of variety of shrubs, healing herbs, and other medicinal plants. Geographically, Garhwal region of Uttarakhand represent enormous diversity of flora and fauna due to variations in topography, altitude and climate. It includes seven districts-Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, Chamoli, Tehri, Uttarakashi and Rudraprayag representing mountains, lower hills, Tarai-Bhabar belt and plain area. There have been only few studies on the ethano-botanical usages of the plants for the treatment of livestock which may boost the new drug research by employing modern biotechnological tools and techniques.. Current study was conducted with the sole purpose of eliciting the precious wealth of information on the ethno-veterinary uses of medicinal plants practices by the local people of Garhwal region. Field surveys were conducted in the various thickly populated live-stock rich places of Garhwal region during 2012-18.
