Be Thou My Vision

A Mighty Fortress

Verse I A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing Our helper, He, amid the flood, of mortal ills prevailing For still our ancient foe, doth seek to work us woe His craft and power are great, and armed with cruel hate On earth is not his equal

Verse II Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing Were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God’s own choosing Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He The Lord of hosts His name, from age to age the same And He must win the battle

Verse I Praise to the Lord the Almighty the King of creation O my soul praise Him for He is my health and salvation All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near Join me in glad adoration

Verse II Praise to the Lord who o’er all things so wondrously reigneth Shelters thee under His wings, yes, so gently sustaineth Hast thou not seen, how all thy longings have been Granted in what He ordaineth

Verse III Praise to the Lord who doth prosper thy work and defend thee Surely His goodness and mercy here daily attend thee Ponder a new, what the Almighty can do If in His love He befriend thee

Verse IV Praise to the Lord O let all that is in me adore Him All that hath life and breath come now with praises before Him Let the Amen, sound from His people again Gladly for aye we adore Him
