Art. 1 In conformity with the provisions contained in the Monetary Convention mentioned above, the striking of having the characteristics referred to in Article 2 is hereby authorised.

Art. 2 Such coins, being legal tender in the territory of the Republic of San Marino and in that of the European Community Member States that have adopted the Euro, shall meet the specifications given for Euro coins by the Council of the ; the artistic features are defined as follows:

2 Euro coin Obverse: ringed by twelve stars, the Public Building; on the left, the date 2002 and the letter R; on the right, the inscription SAN MARINO and the author’s initials CH. Reverse: on the left, the value 2; on the right, six vertical lines with twelve superimposed stars, each star placed before the ends of each line; in the middle of such lines, a reproduction of the European Union with thinly marked borders between the Member States; in the middle of the right-hand side, the inscription EURO is placed horizontally; below the O letter of EURO, the author’s initials LL, with superimposed letters.

1 Euro coin Obverse: ringed by twelve stars, the coat-of-arms of the Republic; above, on the left, the date 2002; on the right, the letter R; below, on the right-hand side, the author’s initials CH; below, in the middle, the inscription SAN MARINO. Reverse: on the left, the value 1; on the right, six vertical lines with twelve superimposed stars, each star placed before the ends of each line; in the middle of such lines, a reproduction of the European Union with thinly marked borders between the Member States; in the middle of the right-hand side, the inscription EURO is placed horizontally; below the O letter of EURO, the author’s initials LL, with superimposed letters.

50 Euro cent coin Obverse: ringed by twelve stars, the Three Towers (Guaita, Cesta and Montale); on the left, the date 2002; in the middle, the inscription SAN MARINO and the letter R; on the right, the author’s initials CH. Reverse: on the right, the value 50 and the author’s initials LL, with superimposed letters; below, in the middle, the inscription EURO, and right below it, the inscription CENT; on the left, six vertical lines with twelve superimposed stars, each star placed before the ends of each line; in the middle of such lines, a reproduction of the European Union with its Member States separated from one another.

20 Euro cent coin Obverse: ringed by twelve stars, a portrayal of Saint Marino inspired by a canvas of the Guercino School; on the left, the author’s initials CH and the inscription SAN MARINO; on the right, the date 2002 and the letter R. Reverse: on the right, the value 20 and the author’s initials LL, with superimposed letters; below, in the middle, the inscription EURO, and right below it, the inscription CENT; on the left, six vertical lines with twelve superimposed stars, each star placed before the ends of each line; in the middle of such lines, a reproduction of the European Union with its Member States separated from one another.

10 Euro cent coin Obverse: ringed by twelve stars, the Saint’s Basilica; above it, the inscription SAN MARINO and the date 2002; on the right, the author’s initials CH; below, the letter R. Reverse: on the right, the value 10 and the author’s initials LL, with superimposed letters; below, in the middle, the inscription EURO, and right below it, the inscription CENT; on the left, six vertical lines with twelve superimposed stars, each star placed before the ends of each line; in the middle of such lines, a reproduction of the European Union with its Member States separated from one another.

5 Euro cent coin Obverse: ringed by twelve stars, the First Tower, Guaita; above, on the left, the date 2002 and the letter R; on the right, the inscription SAN MARINO and the author’s initials CH. Reverse: on the left, the value 5; above, in the middle, the inscription EURO, and right below it, the inscription CENT; diagonally, upwards from left to right, six lines with twelve superimposed stars, each star placed before the ends of each line; in the middle of such lines, a superimposed globe on which the European Union is represented; on the right of the globe, the author’s initials LL, with superimposed letters.

Art. 3 Coins struck under this Decree shall be circulated starting from 1 January, 2002.

Art. 4 For each coin, the quantity to be minted shall be specified on the basis of the overall nominal amount referred to in the preceding Article 1.
