OAS Partnerships Programmes for Education and Training

International MBA program of the ESAN -

The Organization of American States (OAS) and ESAN University of Lima‐Peru, through the Partnership Program for Education and Training of the OAS, have agreed to support outstanding individuals of the Americas through the granting of ten (10) OAS‐ESAN scholarships for the International MBA program.

Program:

• The OAS‐ESAN scholarship covers 100% of the total cost of tuition.

To apply for an OAS‐ESAN Scholarship, participants must have already been admitted to the ESAN University International MBA program (see other eligibility requirements in Section II. ":About the Scholarship")

The application deadline for admission to the International MBA program is August 28th, 2013.

The application deadline for the OAS‐ESAN Scholarship is September 11th,2013.

The International MBA Program start date is January 27th, 2014.

About ESAN and OAS Initiatives

ESAN (Lima‐Peru) is the first postgraduate academic institution in Administration created in the Spanish-speaking world. It was established on July 25, 1963 in the framework of an agreement between the Governments of Peru and the United States of America. Its organization and management was entrusted to the Graduate Business School of Stanford University, California. Converted into a university on July 12, 2003, (Law No. 28021), ESAN currently offers Master's degrees in Administration, specialized Master’s (Organization and Management of Personnel, Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Healthcare Management, Management and Real Estate Development, Project Management, Office of Information Technologies, Finance and Corporate Law, Finance), eight career paths at the undergraduate level and programs designed for executives in various formats, corporate programs, and other academic and professional services.

The OAS, through the Department of Human Development, Education and Culture (DDHEC), supports Member States in the creation and implementation of programs that promote human development at all levels of education. The DDHEC strengthens democratic values and security June 25th, 2013 under the framework of regional integration, promoting training opportunities for citizens with the purpose of supporting the efforts of Member States to improve the quality of and fairness in education. The DDHEC highlights the contribution of Member States through their various cultures‐ to the economic, social and human development of their peoples supporting citizens of the Americas to reach their full potential, giving them access to knowledge and skills through educational training, thus improving their living standards and those of the communities of the region.

I. ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

1. Applicant Profile: The student profile consists of individuals that are from 25 to 35 years of age and possess a good command of the English language (TOEFL iBT 80). The minimum amount of work experience is 3 years. Most importantly, this work experience should be interesting and reflect positively on the individual. This program is suited for individuals that aim to pursue a professional career not only in their home countries but also overseas. We expect our students to possess not only a strong willingness to ascend professionally but also the potential to grow into management and executive positions.

2. Study Venue /Modality: The program will take place in Lima, Peru. Furthermore, the program can be completed as a double degree. Under this modality, the student will study for the first part of the program at ESAN and the second part will be completed at any of its partner . In case the student decides to study at a partner university in Europe, they will not have to make any payment for the rights of education. If they decide to study at a partner university in the USA, the student must pay 100% of the tuition cost for the time of attendance to the program selected.

3. Program Duration: the program starts on January 27, 2014 and has a duration of approximately 14 months

II. ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP

1. Benefits: The scholarship will cover 100% of the cost of tuition and is subject to the academic performance of the student to maintain the scholarship. Scholarship fellows should not be reported with low academic performance due to absence from the Program and/or course failure.

2. Financial responsibility of scholars: the fellow will be responsible for covering the totality of subsistence and medical insurance costs not included in this grant. The fellow will also be responsible to cover their own fees for school services (certificates, etc.), admissions examinations, cost of graduation (degree expedition), legalization of documents, airfare, visa formalities, as well as any other additional costs and any other expenses that the fellow incurred and is not covered in this call.

3. Requierements of elegibility

3.1 To be a recipient of this scholarship, the candidate must have completed the ESAN admission process and have been admitted to the program.

3.2 Interested candidates with nationality of and/or residence in any OAS Member State, with the exception of Peru, will be eligible 1. June 25th, 2013

3.3 Officials of the General Secretariat, the persons who are under contract for results with the General Secretariat, the staff of permanent missions to the OAS, and their immediate family members are not eligible to receive grants from the OAS.

4. Scholarship application process:

Scholarship applicants must complete the online scholarship application and send it before September 11, 2013

4.1 Applicants should complete and send the OAS scholarship application form together with required documents in PDF format that are described below. Once the online application process has finished, you will receive an email confirming your registration and containing your form in a PDF file attached. Please resend this confirmation email and a PDF copy of the ESAN form to the following email address: [email protected]

4.2 Please bear in mind that the form will ask you to write the following two trials in English or Spanish language. Each essay must have a minimum of 800 characters (not words) and up to 2900 characters including spaces.

a. Essay 1: Describe how the International MBA program will directly impact your career, improve your professional skills in your current job, or to allow you to obtain one.

b.Essay 2: OAS scholarships require that fellows return or remain in their countries of citizenship or permanent residence once they conclude their studies, for a minimum period equivalent to the time that studies lasted. Please outline a 5 year-plan that explains how you intend to apply the knowledge and experience acquired to contribute to the development of your country and region. In addition, please indicate the reasons for applying to this scholarship, your financial need and how you will cover additional expenses not covered by this scholarship.

4.3 Ensure that the following documents are attached in one (1) file in PDF format in the following they appear to the OAS Online Scholarship Form:

1. Copy of the identity document (document of citizenship, passport or national identity document) 2. Letter of admission to the program of studies to which you applied or proof that the process of admission to ESAN has already begun (this can be demonstrated via confirmation number, number of ID on the application, or the confirmation email sent by the University confirming that your application was successfully received.) ______1 The OEA‐ESAN scholarship program is not available for national or permanent resident of Peru since one of the purposes of the program is to promote internationalization and the mobilization of students within the region.

We highly recommend applying the scholarship as soon as possible to start the process of admission to ESAN. Only interested parties that are admitted to the International MBA program will be considered in the scholarship process.

3. Updated Curriculum Vitae. (No more than 4 pages). 4. Diploma or certificate of completion of study (ies) and/or degree (s) to affirm compliance with the academic requirements, including approval of final papers, if applicable. 5. Copy of transcript of the last university degree obtained (Bachelor’s/undergraduate, Master's, or Ph.D.) 6. A letter of recommendation from a teacher or the most recent employer which includes the official letterhead of the University, the position of the Professor, date and signature. 7. Document of institution that demonstrates the level of competence in language studies, if applicable.

4.4.1 Admission requirements established by ESAN: •Work experience: the candidate must have at least three years of corporate experience. Internships are not a valid substitute for this requirement. •Language: For students whose native language is not English, they must submit TOEFL iBT (minimum score 80) or equivalent. •Academic record: you must have a strong academic record.

5. Selection criteria of scholarship applicants: 5.1 Professional and academic merit and credentials of the applicant. 5.2 The potential impact of return upon finishing the curriculum. 5.3 The geographical distribution of candidates while taking into account the most important needs of emerging economies. 5.4 The economic need of the individual concerned, based on what is indicate in the essays written. 5.5 The integration of a gender equality perspective.

6. Fellow Responsibilities: 6.1 Selected candidates must sign the completed form "Scholarship granting acceptance" and return it to the DDHEC via email to [email protected] and [email protected].

June 25th, 2013 6.2 Refrain from activities that are inconsistent with the status of an OAS Scholarship recipient, abiding by the regulations referred to in this form.

6.3 Comply with all the academic guidelines and requirements for admission and permanence requested by ESAN and obeying any updates to requirements made by academic authorities. 6.4 Comply with the provisions indicated above in the section titled "Financial responsibility of the scholars" (see section II.2 "ON THE GRANT"). 6.5 To keep the scholarship, scholars should not be reported with possessing low academic performance due to absence from the program and/or course failure. 6.6 The fellow must obtain a corresponding student visa, if necessary, to travel to Peru and cover any costs incurred in this process (the student may contact the individual responsible for international cooperation at ESAN University, Ms. Carolyn Sillau, by email at [email protected] to obtain institutional support for th). 6.7 The scholarship can be declined by the fellow before starting the program of studies without financial penalties. However, if the selected candidate declines the scholarship after beginning program studies without proof or argument of external circumstances, the fellow must reimburse the OAS and ESAN for the total amount of the scholarship paid to him at the point in which the declination is processed. 6.8 Students who are beneficiaries of these scholarships must commit themselves to return to work in their country of origin or legal residence; in one of the OAS Member States or an international organization for at minimum the amount of time equal to the duration of the scholarship. Failure to comply with this commitment will result in the beneficiary being required to return the value corresponding to the total endowment received to the INSTITUTION and/or the OAS.
