Dos jóvenes marginales de Medellín, que sin embargo no están inmersos en la violencia asociada con Colombia, deciden realizar un sueño: ir al mar en bicicleta. Los jóvenes de los barrios populares de Medellín tienen un particular (y potencialmente letal) medio de locomoción: se transportan por las calles y las pendientes de la ciudad atando sus bicicletas con un gancho a la parte trasera de autobuses y camiones. En cierto sentido, la práctica del “gancho” es la revancha contra el olvido social y afectivo de una generación marginal que busca con avidez sentirse viva. Y esa mirada posible sobre un fenómeno tan peculiar es la que pone a rodar “Piro” Higuita Marín, dejándose contagiar por el vértigo y la libertad que experimentan sus protagonistas. Casi sin conocerse y por motivos bien distintos, John y El Poroso deciden concretar su loco sueño de conocer el mar, viajando por la peligrosa carretera de Urabá (el peligro es el literal de los precipicios, claro, pero también otro relacionado al pasado violento del país). Protagonizada casi íntegramente por actores no profesionales, El gancho es a la vez una road movie en bicicleta y un luminoso viaje de iniciación, sorteando la muerte, a través de la cruda realidad colombiana.

Son jóvenes gudaris, del batallón Arana Goiri, que murieron el 25 de septiembre de 1936 cuando luchaban contra la revuelta en la batalla de Zirardamendi. Cada uno de ellos tiene un orificio de bala en el cráneo. Los cadáveres están muy deteriorados, pero tras las pruebas de ADN, han confirmado que uno de ellos es Sabin Atutxa. A finales de septiembre de 1936, tras perder Gipuzkoa, Bizkaia también se encuentra en peligro de caer en manos de los sublevados alzados contra la república. En esos días, Sabin y otros voluntarios como él, que combatían a favor de la república, lucharon fuertemente en el frente situado en la frontera entre Gipuzkoa y Bizkaia. Si no hubiese sido así, Euskadi entera hubiese sido de los sublevados, y Jose Antonio Agirre, sólo hubiera sido Lehendakari de una nación sin territorio. De hecho, gracias en gran parte a la lucha del batallón Arana Goiri aquel 25 de septiembre en Zirardamendi, el frente consiguió estabilizarse. En consecuencia, se aprobó el Estatuto de Autonomía y durante siete meses el Gobierno Vasco tuvo la ocasión de establecer su mandato y poner en marcha sus prioridades. Tomando como punto de partida la exhumación de Aranzadi y la familia de Sabin, el documental Goazen gudari danok describe los detalles de la batalla de Zirardamendi, y habla de la importancia histórica de aquel hecho.

El primer Gobierno vasco de la historia nació en Gernika, en octubre de 1936, como consecuencia del Estatuto de autonomía aprobado por las Cortes republicanas en la Guerra Civil. Su derrota en ella hizo que apenas estuviese nueve meses en euskadi y viviese un largo exilio, que le llevó de Cantabria y cataluña a Francia y Estados Unidos. Los primeros Lehendakaris fueron José Antonio Aguirre, desde 1936 hasta su fallecimiento en París en 1960, y Jesús María Leizaola, desde entonces hasta su regreso a Euskadi en 1979. Todos sus gobiernos fueron de coalición, pues contaron con consejeros nacionalistas, republicanos, socialistas y, ocasionalmente, comunistas.

The first Basque Government in history was born in Gernika in October of 1936, as a result of the Autonomy Statute approved by the Republican Parliament in the Civil War. The Republican defeat gave the nascent government barely nine months in the Basque country and a long exile, that took them from Cantabria and Catalonia to France and the United States. 2014 - EL GRAN PREMIO DE LA BAÑEZA

El Circuito Motorista Bañezano (como fue bautizada en sus primeros años la carrera de motos en circuito urbano de La Bañeza -León-) tuvo sus primeras apariciones en las fiestas patronales de su ciudad en los años 1952 y 1953. Al año siguiente se formó oficialmente el Moto Club Bañezano y empezó el recuento oficial de ediciones de aquel Circuito Motorista Bañezano, que se convirtió en un espléndido espectáculo de velocidad motociclista. En el año 2009, el recuento de ediciones sumaba 50. Las bodas de oro llegaban con cierta demora, ya que en 1955, 1956, 1965, 1967 y 1989, el espectáculo no pudo realizarse. Coincidiendo con la celebración de esas bodas de oro, comenzó a filmarse una película documental sobre la historia de este singular evento. Tras años de búsqueda de material de archivo e investigación periodística, en agosto de 2013 se presentó este documental histórico titulado EL GRAN PREMIO DE LA BAÑEZA. Con ocasión de la 54 edición de la fiesta motociclista bañezana, vio la luz este documental que cuenta algunos de los momentos más apasionantes de la historia motociclista bañezana y española.

La Bañeza is the name of the this town geographically located in León province and Castilla y León autonomous community. At present Spanish motorcyling is one of the strongest in the world, but not always was like that. There was a long way to travel for the motocyclisme in Spain before to reach the status that Spanish road racers have today.

(Français) Le Grand Prix de La Bañeza: c'est ainsi que se nomme ce documentaire sur le 60è anniversaire du circuit de La Bañeza. Ce circuit urbain de motos mythique, qui a vu le jour en 1952, n'a pas perdu sa vitesse de course et reste fidèle à l’esprit de ses débuts. Cet étonnant spectacle de motos est organisé tous les ans au mois d'août dans une petite ville du nord-ouest de l’Espagne. La Bañeza est une ville située dans la province de León, dans la communauté autonome de Castille-et-Léon. Aujourd'hui, les pilotes de moto espagnols sont parmi les meilleurs du monde, mais cela n'a toujours pas été le cas. Les pilotes de moto ont acquis leur statut actuel grâce au long chemin parcouru par ce sport en Espagne. Dans les années 1940, 1950 et 1960, de nombreuses municipalités et villes espagnoles organisaient des courses sur route dans leurs rues. C’est ainsi que La Bañeza a ouvert son circuit, qui est vite devenu un rendez-vous singulier et prestigieux pour les pilotes de moto. Ce circuit urbain situé sur les terres ibériques à 800 km de la mer Méditerranée était unique en son genre !

Many know the endeavors of the Lincoln Brigade. In 1936 two thousand eight hundred North Americans volunteered to defend the Republic of Spain, joining their struggle to about 50,000 other volunteers coming from 54 countries across the world. But what most do not know is that among the American volunteers there were eighty- five African Americans who also answered that call, fighting in Spain against racism and for the civil rights that were denied to them in their own country. Vida y obra del pionero de cine español Segundo de Chomón y la peculiar relación que tuvo con su hermano gemelo Primo de Chomón. De todas las leyendas sobre los primeros años del cinematógrafo, ninguna parece más curiosa que la historia de los hermanos gemelos Primo y Segundo de Chomón. Nacidos en 1871 en Teruel, una pequeña ciudad de provincias española, los hermanos Chomón fueron testigos del desarrollo del cine, desde su nacimiento como una atracción de feria a su establecimiento como una forma de arte de hoy en día. Esta película de “ficción documental” traza la historia, los lugares y las películas que dejaron atrás, dejando al descubierto el trabajo de un genio de los efectos especiales, fotografía y animación que comenzó su carrera trabajando para Georges Méliès y, posteriormente, colaboró con directores como Giovanni Pastrone y Abel Gance en las mayores superproducciones de principios del siglo 20, Cabiria y Napoleón. Este genio fue Segundo de Chomón. Por el contrario, se sabe muy poco acerca de su hermano Primo. Aparte de algunas fotografías y una película sobreviviente, los únicos documentos que revelan algo sobre su relación con Segundo son las cartas entre ambos.

Of all the legends told about the early years of the cinematograph, none is stranger or more mysterious than the tale of twin brothers Primo and Segundo de Chomón. Born in 1871 in Teruel, a small

© Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte Spanish provincial town, the Chomón brothers witnessed the development of film from its birth as a humble fairground attraction, to its establishment as a modern-day art form. The documentary film producer traces the history, places and films that he left behind, uncovering the work of a special effects, photography and animation genius who began his career working for Georges Méliès and eventually went on to collaborate with leading directors such as Giovanni Pastrone and Abel Gance on the greatest early 20th century super-productions, Cabiria and Napoleón. This genius was Segundo de Chomón. In contrast, very little is known about his brother Primo. Apart from a few photographs and one surviving film, the only documents that reveal anything about his relationship with Segundo are the letters they wrote to each other. From what we can gather, and leading experts in the early days of film confirm in a series of interviews, Primo was a constant, albeit unwitting, threat to Segundo's career.

En un depauperado barrio de La Habana Vieja, el que a principios de siglo fuera el lujoso Hotel Nueva Isla se ha convertido en refugio para personas que viven al margen de la sociedad: Jorge, un funcionario del Estado retirado y sus dos vecinos, Waldo y La Flaca. Sin apenas contacto con el mundo exterior, Jorge se asemeja a un Quijote desterrado y definitivamente olvidado. Día a día su cuerpo y su salud se van debilitando como los muros del propio Hotel Nueva Isla. Abandonado por sus hijos y las mujeres que tuvo, su única motivación desde hace años es seguir la pista de una revelación: está convencido de que en algún lugar del ruinoso hotel están los objetos de valor que los antiguos propietarios escondieron al salir huyendo con el triunfo de la Revolución. Pero la vida en el interior de las ruinas se vuelve cada vez más peligrosa, y mientras los vecinos se van marchando en busca de un lugar más seguro, Jorge se resiste a abandonar el edificio.

El año pasado vimos, en el ciclo de la Filmoteca, que el máster de Llámale Jess se había degradado muchísimo. Por otra parte, con Ferrán Herranz -que ha producido, entre otras, la última película de Jesús Franco, Al Pereira vs. The Alligator Ladies- hacía mucho tiempo que hablábamos de hacer un nuevo montaje del documental. Tras la muerte de Lina y de Jess no tuvimos ninguna duda de que debíamos hacerlo. Intentando respetar la esencia de lo que hicimos en el 2000 con Manel Mayol, recuperé metraje descartado con lo que pudimos dar mayor protagonismo a Lina, mostrar cortes inéditos que me parecen importantes y que nos han permitido reestructurar algunas partes del documental. Ahora es bastante más largo. Para mantener la máxima calidad de imagen hemos respetado el formato de 4:3 de las cintas de rodaje.
