Media Release Department of Planning, Industry and Environment Thursday, 21 November 2019 Community feedback sought on plans for Cricket NSW Centre of Excellence An application for a new Cricket NSW Centre of Excellence at Sydney Olympic Park is on exhibition for feedback from the community. The Department of Planning, Industry and Environment’s Anthea Sargeant is calling on the community to have their say on the proposal for a year-round training and administration facility at Wilson Park in Silverwater next to the Parramatta River. “The proposed new facility will be home to the Sydney Thunder and the Sydney Sixers and become the western hub for the NSW Blues (men’s) and Breakers (women’s teams),” said Ms Sargeant, Executive Director of Compliance Industry and Key Sites. “If approved, it will house training and playing facilities for many club and community cricketers across Sydney.” The plan includes a full-size oval and training oval, more than 70 outdoor training nets, a community indoor centre and high-performance training facilities. Administration facilities to support local competitions, game development and Cricket NSW pathways are also proposed. “This is designed to be the centrepiece of a long-term solution for Cricket NSW to replace its existing offices and indoor centre at the Sydney Cricket Ground.” Ms Sargeant said. “Community input is essential to help us make a thorough and rigorous assessment and I encourage everyone to take a look at the plans and tell us what they think.” Have Your Say: https://www.planningportal.nsw.gov.au/major-projects/project/14951 The exhibition closes on 18 December 2019.
