Assistant Coach – Batting Position Details Department: Positions Reporting to this Position: Cricket Performance Nil Reports to: Location: Head Coach - NSW Blues Sydney Olympic Park, Sydney

Primary Purpose of the Position Plan and implement a program which facilitates excellence in team and individual preparation and performance in the Marsh Sheffield Shield and Marsh One Day Cup competitions. Operate as a specialist in the development of batting skills, as well as assisting in the development of the team & other skill areas. This position is a critical contributor to achieving the Associations strategic goal of being the number 1 producer of talent in Australian Cricket.

Organisation Environment Cricket NSW is the peak state sporting organisation responsible for the governance, development, promotion and administration of cricket throughout New South Wales. The purpose of CNSW is to inspire everyone to love and play cricket.

Department Environment The Cricket Performance Department is responsible for the oversight of the male and female elite teams, underage Player Pathway and Umpire Pathway. This includes the elite player, coach and umpire pathway, the various metropolitan and country competitions and programs as well as the conducting of all Domestic and International matches. To achieve Cricket NSW’s strategic goal of being the number 1 producer of talent in Australian Cricket, the Association identifies and develops talented athletes, coaches and umpires and provides high performance structures to enable them to become NSW and Australian representatives in their chosen field of endeavour.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement elite batting programs a. Implement and drive the agreed key team values of care, respect and professionalism. b. Develop and implement comprehensive technical, tactical, physical and cognitive batting programs. c. Manage batting sessions for Blues players in both match and practice environments. d. Develop self-directed cricketers through player focused learning including questioning, problem solving and critical thinking. e. Assist the Head Coach - NSW Blues, in strategic planning to support the Cricket NSW strategic priorities. f. Utilise technology to analyse players strengths and weaknesses. g. Lead review meetings with individuals and group when necessary. h. Attend players pre, mid and end of season reviews with Head Coach and provide information as necessary. i. Attend all meetings with Coaching staff and Sports Science Sports Medicine (SSSM) team. Assistant Coach – Batting 2 Position Description

j. Undertake a specialist coaching role for Futures League, 2nd XI and Transition Squad as required. k. Liaise with the SSSM staff to maximise player performance, recovery and injury rehabilitation. l. Evaluate all programs relevant to batting within the Elite Player Pathway.

2. Lead the Cricket NSW Batting unit a. Ensure a consistent batting development philosophy between Academy and Transition squad players, programs and coaches and the Blues squads, programs and coaches. b. Identify and develop batting coaching talent within the CNSW Elite Coaching pathway. c. Identify and employ batting coaches within the Cricket NSW elite player pathway. d. Coordinate state wide batting programs. e. Attend Transition Squad sessions as required. f. Liaise with the State Talent Manager relating to the identification and development of batters within the Cricket NSW player pathway. g. Liaise with the Coach Education and Development Manager to undertake state wide Coach Education roles as required. h. Act as Batting Coach for the and/ or BBL teams if engaged by BBL General Managers.

3. Liaise with in all issues relating to batting a. Attend all Cricket Australia batting meetings and workshops. b. Disseminate information from Cricket Australia to all appropriate stakeholders. c. Respond and provide feedback to working papers disseminated by Cricket Australia. d. Complete all Cricket Australia performance pathway reporting as required. e. Liaise with Cricket Australia Batting specialists when working with NSW based Cricket Australia contracted players to enable effective rehabilitation and technical coaching.

• Level 3 cricket coaching accreditation (or international equivalent) • Extensive experience coaching at an elite level • Demonstrable expertise in the technical & tactical elements of batting • Innovative approach, with a commitment to embracing the latest developments in cricket & elite coaching • Exceptional leadership skills and a willingness to have honest and open conversations with staff and players • Ability to motivate and positively influence people • Highly energetic & enthusiastic • Computer literacy, including MS Office, databases and performance analysis software.

• Consistently maintain team performance levels in all competition formats, notwithstanding player roster variations due to injury and international representation. • Drive accepted standards and build a high performing team culture, underpinned by discipline, commitment and responsibility. • Manage player workloads in conjunction with Sports Science Sports Medicine staff. • In unison with key internal stakeholders, ensure program continuity and philosophical alignment between the youth player pathway and elite senior programs, squads and teams. • Create a training environment that challenges the large number of Australian players within the Cricket NSW program and allows them continuous development and learning.
