nder the auspices of Commander of the Amiri Guard Major General Hazza Ubin Khalil al-Shahwani, the Amiri Guard held a number of sporting activities in the outdoor sports fi eld at the Barzan camp, in celebration of the state’s National Sport Day. A number of commanders of the Amiri Guard participated in the activities with lead- ers and offi cers of departments and groups. This year’s sporting activities focused on individual sports like walking, running, pad- dling, and horseback riding, in line with the precautionary measures for doing sports that were set by the Sport Day committee, which are in accordance to the Ministry of Public Health’s protocols. The Sport Day activities committee of the Amiri Guard was keen to prepare the outdoor playgrounds to suit the individual physical activities, in order to take into account the implementation of all the necessary preven- tive measures. The activities started early in the morning in the outdoor fi elds, where the staff of the Amiri Guard conducted warm-up exercises after which they practised walking and light jogging on the side of the grass fi eld while adhering to safe distancing to limit physical contact between them. The Amiri Guard participates in celebrat- ing Sport Day along with the diff erent state authorities, which was launched in Qatar 10 years ago. The Amiri Guard, through the sports activities it organises, aims to enhance the state’s message of increasing awareness on the importance of physical activity. Physical activity in the Amiri Guard is considered one of the main pillars used to raise the level of fi t- ness of its members, as it is a fundamental and important pillar of training and rehabilita- tion plans, and one of the important elements that help individuals renew physical and mental activity.
