He came to Mobile to call for justice in the aftermath of the Secretary/Treasurer Betsy Pandora lynching of Michael Donald, a 19-year-old Black man randomly selected Board Members for death by the local United Klans of America. In a rare moment of racial clarity in Alabama, justice was eventually served, and the Klan collapsed.
