Green Report 2014
GREEN REPORT 2014 December, 2014 Preface Agriculture and rural development are key sectors that can contribute significantly to the overall economic development of the country. Agriculture and rural diversification are two sectors that offer Kosovo real opportunities in poverty alleviation, creating new jobs and generating income for residents in rural areas. MAFRD through policies and development strategies is oriented in supporting production factors, in stimulating farmers and creating a more favorable developmental environment. These policies and strategies are creating opportunities to achieve sustainable development and a more efficient use of natural resources. The development of the agricultural sector plays a special role in improving the trade balance, reducing unemployment, food safety, environmental protection and the improvement of people's lives in general. Therefore, the agricultural sector remains a key priority for the Government. This is the second edition of the Green Report to be issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, which presents a detailed overview of the agricultural sector and situation of rural areas in Kosovo. In particular it reflects the structural changes in this sector including policies and support programs that are being implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development to intensify agricultural development and raise living standards in rural areas. This report combines many dimensions of agrorural sector, including foreign trade, food safety, organic farming, loans and other economic elements which create an information-rich platform. This document is not only evidence of the work done by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development but also of its genuine collaboration with other actors involved in its compilation. -
A Study of the Development of Post-War Political Parties in Kosovo
From Guerillas to Cabinets - A Study of the Development of Post-War Political Parties in Kosovo Master Thesis Mariana Qamile Rød University of Bergen Department of Comparative Politics i Abstract The fourth Yugoslav war, the war in Kosovo, was fought between 1998 and 1999. The Kosovo Liberation Army and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kosovo, fought the Serb police, military and paramilitary forces, but also at some points each other. The war was a battle between a Kosovan guerilla uprising, against a far superior Serb military power. The game changed as the international community, and most importantly NATO, intervened to put an end to the war. The KLA was a rapidly growing, sporadically organized guerilla movement. It was established as a result of increasing oppression from the Milosevic regime against the Kosovo Albanians, as a more radical faction than the pacifist Albanian resistance movement, LDK. Despite of their problems, the KLA became national heroes, and their political successors are still in 2017 dominating the political arena. This thesis main research question is; "How has the war legacy affected the development of political parties in post-conflict Kosovo?" To answer my research question, I conducted 22 qualitative interviews with Kosovan ex-combatants and politicians, in addition to an extensive document analysis. Through five different theoretical frameworks, each highlighting different important aspects affecting the development of political parties in a post-conflict state, I tried to uncover which processes and actors have been decisive in this regard. The five theories yield important results on their own, but when combined, it becomes obvious how these processes are not linear and multidimensional. -

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside each of you. Thank you for volunteering to be part of this mission, and thank you for the hard work and professionalism I see every day. This is my first truly multi-national assignment, Kosovo Force is currently comprised of 31 nations. Regardless of how large or small, your nation’s contributions are significant. The coalition of countries that make up KFOR sends a strong signal regarding the determination and the importance of our mission. As “ambassadors” of your countries, your behavior and performance is observed by your peers, by the international community, and by the people of Kosovo. They will draw lasting impressions – continue to ensure that whether it’s at the office, within the base camp, or conducting operations throughout Kosovo, you maintain that high level of professionalism. As with any assignment, service in KFOR is not without its challenges. We are in the most difficult part of this mission, where every incident, however minor, can have a strategic impact. We must each work to ensure we stay constantly vigilant in our efforts. With the overall improved security situation in Kosovo, the North Atlantic Council has decided to transition KFOR to Gate 2 of Deterrent Presence and reduce the Battle Group structure. While this may seem an easy task to some, in truth this is a difficult transition. We must maintain readiness to respond to any event Kosovo-wide while keeping a close eye on the security situation in the north – our point of main effort. To effectively operationalize this transition, we must maintain effective communications and constant coordination throughout this process. -
Einführung in Die Albanologie
Wilfried Fiedler Einführung in die Albanologie Meißen 2006 (Vorläufige Version; Unvollständig) Einführung in die Albanologie 1 I. Bibliographie Die erste "Albanesische Bibliographie" von Ing. Manek, Dr. G. Pekmezi und Ob.- Leut. A. Stotz erschien in Wien 1909. -

Ethnic Element in Albanian Valiant Epic Songs According to Demush Shala
Volume 4, issue 10, 2015 e-ISSN: 1857-8187 p-ISSN: 1857-8179 Research Article Ethnoculture Ethnic element in Albanian Valiant epic songs Keywords: Valiant epic songs, ethnic element, according to Demush Shala Valiant‟s, epic, Albanian, Canon of Lekë Dukagjin, traditional, etc.. Vlorë Fetaj - Berisha Institute of Albanology in Prishtina, Republic of Kosova. Abstract Often perceived as a national treasure, Albanian valiant songs have raised the curiosity of foreign and at the same time Albanian researchers, which often has lead to deep and important scientific studies to the subject. In this context, important contribution has been given also by Prof. Demush Shala; researcher, classifier, publisher and collector of Albanian folklore. Here we shall present some of the arguments brought forward by D. Shala232, as to prove the authenticity and the presence of Albanian Ethnicity within the Albanian Valiant epic songs. In addition to other research studies needed in regard to the Albanian Valiant epic songs, the ethnical element undoubtedly presents also a very important research subject. Throughout the evolution and strata developments of this category of songs, many traits are “attributed to the national specifics”233. Albeit not many of them, other researchers have also emphasized the presence of the authenticity within this ethnical category. In this order, Qemal Haxhihasani says (unassertively enough according to Shala) ,,Here we find expression and reflection of the patriarchal family reports, the authority of older to the younger brother, husband to wife, brother to sister; heroic conception of life, honor and faith; honoring the guest, the revenge, the evaluation of the opponent, respect for tradition"234. -
