Note to the Secretary-General Your December trip to Asia Corinne has discussed with you the difficulty of scheduling your visit to the Republic of Korea (ROK), Japan, China and Vietnam. Due to previous commitments by the Prime Minister of Japan as well as the Foreign Ministers of both Japan and ROK, if all countries are to be visited in December, it will only be possible to spend a day and a half for official meetings in each country. DPA has suggested that it might be preferable, in these circumstances, to visit China and Vietnam only in December and postpone the trip to ROK and Japan for early 2006 when we can devote more time to each. Bob Orr, however, continues to stress the great importance of visiting Japan and ROK before the end of the year given present discussions in the two countries on reform and budgetary contributions to the organization. We are therefore sending you two versions, one with a departure on 4 December and one with a departure on 7 December, of the following preliminary programme for your guidance. We have yet to approach the Permanent Mission of the Philippines to enquire whether a visit there would be feasible. —>Kindly advise which scenario you would like us to pursue. —^Suggested delegation 1. Mr. Supachai Panitchpakdi (Senior Adviser, WTO Ministerial Conference only) 2. Mrs. Angela Kane (Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs); 3.
