Designed by Ockham Residential’s in-house architects, the inspiration for Bernoulli Gardens was simple: to encourage a sense of community by creating a relaxed, informal garden environment for residents to share.

Innovative choices to remove unnecessary fences and concrete driveways have made a new suburban reality possible. A large north facing resident’s lounge opens out to a central garden. Pocket parks, bump spaces and other onsite amenities have also been designed to foster opportunities for community and connectedness. The garden views from the apartments to shared spaces reinforce the idea of an urban village.

Inspired by classic warehouse loft-style buildings, the Bernoulli Gardens’ architecture is elegant yet restrained and references the historic aircraft hangars and brick factories of Hobsonville Point.

The timeless, permanent masonry façade provides a natural counterpoint to living gardens that change with the seasons.

In keeping with our cornerstone philosophies, we have chosen materials that are durable, low maintenance and distinctly residential.

Why Bernoulli Gardens? Daniel Bernoulli was an 18th century Swiss mathematician and physicist who developed equations in fluid dynamics and is after whom the Bernoulli principle was named. This principle describes the mathematics of the mechanism underlying the operation of two important technologies of the 20th century: the carburettor and the airplane wing.

In keeping with Ockham’s interest in critical thought, the name Bernoulli Gardens quietly acknowledges a great mathematician and the aviation history of Hobsonville Point.

13 14 Ockham MISSION STATEMENT

“We are urban regenerators, we love Auckland, and it is our aim to lead by example and produce Auckland’s most outstanding residential buildings. Let’s make sure Auckland’s urban built environment is as beautiful and world-class as its natural landscape. We will achieve this aim with a total commitment to quality urban design, architecture and materials. In particular, our buildings will age gracefully and contain fine grain detail on a human scale that allows them to enhance their surrounds and be well loved by their communities.”

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Ockham’s fundamental belief that housing is infrastructure drives our whole approach to development. Treating housing as infrastructure allows us to focus on the long-term outcomes of development rather than just the short-term bottom line. Like other developers our projects must be profitable but, an Ockham building must also:

• Be beautiful, well-liked by the community and improve the local built environment

• Be constructed from durable low maintenance materials that age gracefully and minimise on-going costs

• Incorporate best practice design to minimise noise and heat transfer to ensure residents’ comfort

• Provide a high level of on-site amenity without expensive body corporate fees

We believe Auckland is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and a wonderful place to live.

It is our goal to develop Auckland’s best residential buildings to ensure the urban streetscapes of our beautiful city are world class.

bernoulli gardens location guide Hobsonville Farmers Market Bernoulli Gardens sits in a prime location in Hobsonville Point, a former Royal New Zealand Air Force Base. This vibrant and successful new village is situated on a stunning peninsula in the upper Waitemata Harbour. It is a 20-minute drive Northwest of Auckland’s CBD or just 10 minutes from the North Shore.

Hobsonville Point is a strong community with outstanding amenities - from schools and parks, to shops, cafes and markets - all in a waterfront location. Hobsonville Point is situated halfway between Albany and Westgate on State Highway 18 and is accessible via the Northern or North Western motorways.

A decade from now, Hobsonville Point will be the size of Devonport (with approximately 3,000 homes).

Transport The Hobsonville Point Wharf, known as the The Landing, has several ferries operating daily between Hobsonville Point and downtown Auckland. A cross town bus link to Westgate provides a connection to the northern busway on SH1 and links Hobsonville Point to Albany and the CBD.

Parks & Playtime Green space is part of the fabric of Hobsonville Point with 26 hectares set aside for parks, reserves and open space.

Coastal Walkway Te Ara Manawa Hobsonville Point (Coastal Walkway) is a strip of land that hugs the coast around the waterfront edge then cuts across the site at Hobsonville Point Park to form a 4km loop.

Hobsonville Point Park and Playground This award winning children’s playground was inspired by the native seedpods that are found on our coast. It is located in Hobsonville Point Park on Buckley Avenue, just before Catalina Cafe.

Bomb Point Stunning Te Onekiritea Point (Bomb Point) is the jewel in Hobsonville Point’s crown. A significant portion of the 11 hectares of rolling land with 270-degree water views will be preserved as a park for all Aucklanders to enjoy.

Schools & Preschools Hobsonville Point is fortunate to have two brand new schools within the community, Hobsonville Point Primary and Hobsonville Point Secondary School. Both are state schools and are run by a single board of trustees. There is also a state of the art early childhood education centre that opened in 2016.

Bomb Point Shopping & Eating The Seaplane Hangar at The Landing on the waterfront hosts the popular Farmers Market every Saturday and Sunday, from 9am to 1pm.e

Catalina Cafe The hugely popular Catalina Cafe sits in the heart of Hobsonville Point and provides a focal point for the community.

Supermarkets & Shopping Malls A brand new Countdown opened in 2015 just outside Hobsonville Point. You are also a 10-minute drive from the shopping centres at Albany or Westgate. Albany has over 140 stores and an eight screen cinema complex.
