*If you are an exchange student and your school is on the list below, you are NOT required to do the ELP testing.

8:30am-3:00pm Tuberculosis (TB) Testing Lafene Health Students will be assigned a specific testing time during Center orientation registration on August 18th. You will be responsible for making sure you have your TB test completed during your specified time. Students must bring $90 for the test. For more information, please see the following link: http://www.k-state.edu/lafene/tb.html 9:00am – 12:00pm Check-in with International Student and Scholar International Student Services (if you haven’t already done so) Center Students are required to check-in upon arrival at KSU. Please be sure to bring your passport, I-20 or DS-2019 and your I-94 card or electronic copy with you when you check- in. Durland Hall, Come enjoy a free lunch before the afternoon workshops Fiedler Atrium and resource fair! 12:30pm-1:30pm Workshop: “Adjusting to U.S. Culture” Fiedler Auditorium, Welcome to the United States! There will be many things Durland Hall that may be different here than in your home country: the food, the weather, the customs and the academic environment. As you adjust to these differences, you may experience the different stages of culture shock. In this workshop, we will learn about culture shock, and the FREE resources available to help you overcome it. Also hear the experiences of some of your K-State peers about what they did to make a smooth adjustment to campus and Manhattan! 1:30pm-3:00pm International Student Resource Fair Fiedler Atrium, *This is a perfect opportunity to learn about different Durland Hall resources found at K-State and the community of Manhattan! If you need to open a bank account or buy a cell phone, the businesses will be ON CAMPUS to help you! Also if you were not able to Check-In with International Student and Scholar Services in the morning, you may Check-In at the ISSS table at the Resource Fair. 3:00pm-4:00pm Workshop: “Making the Most of Your K-State Fiedler Auditorium, Academic Experience” Durland Hall What are the expectations of the U.S. academic environment? Are they different from what you are used to in your home country? This workshop is designed for undergraduate and graduate students in their first year in the U.S. who would like to better understand the U.S. classroom and academic expectations. Perspectives and resources will be shared. Presenters will be Bente Janda, Director of Undergraduate Student Services in the College of Business Administration, Larry Satzler, Assistant Dean, Engineering, and Carol Shanklin, Professor and Dean, Graduate School.

This session is for all students living in the Kramer Dining residence halls. Please attend the session at the dining center Center where you would normally eat dinner. 6:00pm Apartment Living in the U.S. Jardine Frith Join Jardine and ISSS staff for an informative and Community Center entertaining discussion about the do’s and don’ts of living in a U.S. apartment. Free pizza will be provided! This is open to ALL students living in apartments, either on campus or off campus!
