Where the former is a silent disease with slow expansion of the infrarenal aorta, rAAA is symptomatic with abdominal/back pain and possibly even hemorrhagic shock. Repair of an iAAA has low mortality rates while repair of rAAA is associated with much higher complication rates and postoperative mortality. -

Our aim is to nd out whether winter road salting affects wash frequency, the use of car cleaners and corrosion. Compilation of the responses shows that there are signicant differences in the care of cars between the island of Gotland (unsalted) and the Swedish mainland opposite Gotland (salted), and between part of Vaster- botten County (lightly salted) and part of Vasternorrland County (salted). We consider that if salt application were discontinued, wash frequency would be cut by ca 30% and the use of degreasers and screen wash uid would be reduced by 4070%. -
Gotlandic Villas Implications of the Distribution of High Status Finds in Gotlandic Iron Age Houses Known As “Kämpgravar”
Gotlandic Villas Implications of the distribution of high status finds in Gotlandic Iron Age houses known as “kämpgravar” By: Jonathan Nilsson Two years master’s thesis in Archaeology Department of Archaeology and Ancient History Uppsala University: Campus Gotland Supervisor: Paul Wallin Co-supervisors: Gustaf Svedjemo & Alexander Andreeff Abstract Author: Jonathan Nilsson Swedish title: Gotländska Villor: Implikationer baserat på distributeringen av högstatusfynd i gotländska järnåldershus kallade ”kämpgravar”. English title: Gotlandic Villas: Implications of the Distribution of High Status Finds in Gotlandic Iron Age Houses Known as “kämpgravar”.

Utilizing Beach-Cast Seaweed for Biochar Production in Gotland a Study of Energy and Carbon Balances of Algal Biochar
Utilizing beach-cast seaweed for biochar production in Gotland A study of energy and carbon balances of algal biochar Johanna Sörbom Master of Science Thesis KTH School of Industrial Engineering and Management Energy Technology EGI- TRITA-ITM-EX 2020:591 Division of Heat and Power Technology SE-100 44 STOCKHOLM Master of Science Thesis TRITA-ITM-EX 2020:591 Utilizing beach-cast seaweed for biochar production in Gotland - A study of energy and carbon balances of algal biochar Johanna Sörbom Approved Examiner Supervisor Date: 2020.12.21 Jeevan Jayasuriya Jean-Baptiste Thomas Commissioner Contact person Abstract With global warming, rising environmental issues, and increased beach-cast production, climate change mitigation efforts are important for the future of the planet. Carbon dioxide removal technologies are now deemed essential to reach the Sustainable development goals and keep the temperature rise under 1.5 or 2 degrees °C. Biochar produced from beach-cast seaweed has great potential as a fuel or as a means of carbon sequestration, while also proposing a way of dealing with unwanted beach-cast at public beaches. This study compares the alternative methodologies for performing carbon- and energy balances of the production of biochar from beach-cast seaweed. The methodologies differ in the accounting of emissions and energy consumption, either only accounting for consumed energy, including energy embodied in materials, or including avoided emissions. The viability of producing biochar from beach-cast seaweed is assessed while trying to answer if the biochar is best used as a fuel or as a means of carbon sequestration. Furthermore, the effect of pyrolysis peak temperature on the pyrolysis products is assessed. -

20 021 Examensarbete 30 hp Juni 2020 Natural and Cultural Heritage in Tourism on Gotland Heritage Tourism Characteristics and the Relation of Natural and Cultural Heritage Mareike Kerstin Schaub Abstract Natural and Cultural Heritage in Tourism on Gotland Mareike Kerstin Schaub Teknisk- naturvetenskaplig fakultet UTH-enheten This thesis researches into the heritage tourism characteristics on Gotland. Many destinations see a great potential to develop new tourism products around their Besöksadress: heritage and thus meet a rising demand for enriching and unique visitor experiences. Ångströmlaboratoriet Lägerhyddsvägen 1 The Swedish island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea has a long history as a tourism Hus 4, Plan 0 destination and is rich in heritage resources of diverse origin. A qualitative approach is taken to study which traits characterise heritage related tourism to Gotland, and Postadress: which potentials and challenges are seen by major stakeholders in the tourism and Box 536 751 21 Uppsala heritage development. One protruding result is the strong connection between natural and cultural elements at the heritage sites as well as in tourism demand. Also Telefon: the tourism strategy for Gotland strives for a further development of nature and 018 – 471 30 03 culture as thematic tourism areas. Hence, a closer look is taken into the relation of Telefax: these two heritage elements. With help of the concept and methodology of 018 – 471 30 00 heritagescapes two heritage sites have been analysed in a case study approach. The result shows that the integration of natural and cultural heritage to create cohesive Hemsida: and immersive visitor experiences at one site is challenging. -

Gas Sverige AB, The Region of Gotland, Falkenberg Energy AB, The County of Piteå, Cementa AB and Öresundskraft AB. 3 Summary The task was to identify a suitable location for a demonstration plant for Power to gas in Swe- den. The following three municipalities participated in the study; Gotland, Falkenberg and Piteå. They have in common large scale plans to expand wind power and aim for increased use of biofuels. Otherwise, the conditions in their energy systems differ regarding the infra- structure and local energy balances, illuminating the concept of Power to gas from different perspectives. In a large scale expansion of wind power, its share of the electricity production can become so large locally, that all the electricity cannot be consumed due to limitations in the electricity network. -
Annual Report 2017
ANNUAL REPORT 2017 Org nr 834001-6776 Introduction In 2017 the Baltic Centre for Writers and Translators, pursuing its aim to support creative process and provide authors and translators international cultural environment, time and space to write, read, translate, study, conduct research, give readings and become part of the vibrant and diverse literary context, served as a work and meeting place for a broad international community of 213 writers and translators from 26 countries. In 2017 BCWT also put special attention to Russian new literature and its authors as well to the Russian-Swedish cultural exchange. A translators’ workshop in July, a writers’ conference in October and increased Russian writers and translators’ presence in the international residency environment through the year was a result of this intensified exchange that laid ground for further cooperation. Also, the quest to convey the centre's narrative out to the world and the keen work to maintain the centre as an active international cultural actor continued. All those who work with and at the Centre, its intellectual owners and creators, i e authors and translators, and those who take care of the “business”, are keen to cherish the centre's inner essence and meaning - to be a home for literary creation, authors’ and translators’ ongoing workshop, an inspiring international environment and a place for significant meetings and learning. Through the year many groups and individuals visited the Centre to get closer acquainted with its activity and work conditions. BCWT’s programs often become the first acquaintance with a certain authorship or a translator’s work for the Swedish audience. -
Tendencies in Gotland's History-Writing, 1850–2010
In the shadow of the Middle Ages? Tendencies in Gotland’s history-writing, 1850–2010 Samuel Edquist Previous research on history-writing and other forms of the use of history has so far to a large extent analysed national and ethnic identities and their formation through narratives of the past.1 Other territorial identity projects have been less studied, relatively speaking. Still, the importance of the past is just as obvious in local, regional, and supranational identity projects.2 The latter have largely used similar mechanisms as those used in the nationalist projects, at least on the discursive level. Not only do geographical and contemporary cultural aspects delineate the regional ‘us’, but, more than that, do so by telling and retelling a common narrative about the past. ‘We’ have always lived here, ‘we’ have shared a common destiny down the centuries. In this study, I will analyse regional identity construction on Gotland. Gotland is the largest of all the Baltic islands, with a population of some 57,000 and a land area of 3,000 km2. It is one of Sweden’s twenty-five historical provinces (landskap), and constitutes a separate county (län). The province of Gotland also includes some smaller islands. The only inhabited one is Fårö, a separate parish at Gotland’s north-eastern edge, with some 550 inhabitants and a land area of 114 km2. Some of the uninhabited islands—Gotska Sandön, Stora Karlsö, and Lilla Karlsö—have nevertheless played a role in regional topography and history-writing, thanks to their distinctive landscape and as somewhat exotic places where historical events of the more curious and thrilling kind have taken place.3 1 Among numerous examples, see, for example, T.
