Dunlap Memorial Public Library was established in 1963. The library doubled its size in recent years through an expansion to serve the western part of Cameron County. La Feria Aquatic Center The La Feria Aquatic Center strives for safety in and around water; Visit the new La Feria Nature Center therefore, lifeguards are always on duty during operating hours. All lifeguards are trained and certified by the American Red Cross. The La Feria Aquatic Center offers great programs throughout the summer: Learn-to-Swim Program, Private Lessons, Guard Start & Water Aerobics.

City of La Feria La feria’s Skateboard Park

The La Feria Veteran’s Memorial Sports Complex was built in 1995 as a joint project between the City of La Feria and the La Feria Independent School District. The facility is the home of the La Feria High School Boy’s Baseball team, the La Feria High School Girl’s Softball team and the La Feria High School Soccer team, as well as many other athletic events throughout the year, including after school baseball/softball, flag football, and regional cross country annual competition. The Skateboard Park opened in September 2008. The 15-acre facility is comprised of four baseball/softball fields, a walking/ jogging trail, a sand volleyball court, two basketball courts, a playground and a Skating hours are M-F, 4:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. football/soccer field. Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. School Breaks and Summer Hours Mon. – Sun., 7:00 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. In 2009, the Sports Complex walking/jogging trail was expanded to a one-mile track, and the parking lot was also expanded by additional parking spaces to accommodate the growth in our community. In the future, we will be making additional improvements.

LaThe CityFeria of La Feria NFL is proud to offer Flag NFL Flag Football Football to our local community as well as the surrounding communities for boys and girls ages 6-14. NFL Flag Football provides non-contact continuous action, while requiring minimal equipment. Players learn the skills of the sport and experience the fun of football! In its eighth year, NFL Flag Football has become the fastest grow- ing sport in La Feria. NFL Flag Football has also attracted players from the surrounding communities, as La Feria is one of a few cities to offer an NFL Flag Football program in the Rio Grande Valley. Participation has steadily increased with over 200 registered players per season. So get excited and play NFL Flag Football! La Feria Basketball League The City of La Feria is proud to SUMMERCity YOUTH of RECREATION La Feria PROGRAM offer Youth Basketball to our local In cooperation with La Feria I.S.D. community as well as the surrounding communities for boys and girls ages 5-12. In only its second year, the La Feria Basketball League has grown to almost 200 players. Registration begins in late November and the season lasts two months, January and February. All games are played at the W.B. Green Jr. High School Gymnasium. For more information regarding registration dates, times and fees, call 797-2261.

Volunteer Activities in Your Community The Summer Youth Program will be held again this year during the months of June and July 2010. Children ages 6 to 18 years old can par- ticipate in this program and enjoy a free breakfast and lunch. Program hours are 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Enjoy great activities such as: basketball, volleyball, board games, arts & crafts, foosball, ping pong, & exercises, which are held at the La Feria High School Old Gym. Four field trips include: movies, skating, bowling, & swimming. AAU Track is offered for an additional fee. Volunteers help keep La Feria beautiful during Trash Bash Day in 2009.
