In Search of a Lost Paradigm - A case study approach to retracing traditionalist influence in the fatwas of Ali Goma, Grand Mufti of Egypt Fredrik Brusi Institutionen för orientaliska språk Avdelningen för Mellanösterns språk och kulturer Kandidatuppsats 15 hp Mellanöstern- och Nordafrikastudier Kandidatprogram MENA (180 hp) Vårterminen 2012 Handledare/Supervisor: Jakob Skovgaard-Petersen In Search of a Lost Paradigm - A case study approach to retracing traditionalist influence in the fatwas of Ali Goma, Grand Mufti of Egypt Author: Fredrik Brusi Abstract This paper is an attempt to describe how two religious edicts by the current Egyptian grand mufti relate to an ongoing theological debate in the Muslim world on the nature of miracles and the state of mankind between life and death. The study illustrates how the mufti adheres to the Sunni theological school of Ash‘ariyya and in what way said school has emerged as a theological middle ground between the literal and interpretative schools of thought. The study also reveals how the Mufti as a guardian of the faith must operate within a secularising context and what strategies are possible for him to utilise if he is to meet the demands of a modernised society whilst retaining a coherent religious explanation. In his office as grand mufti, Ali Goma may well be described as a traditionalist where theological matters are considered even if the governmental institute of Dār al- iftā has been modernised under his supervision and now uses 24 hour phone lines, e-mail, facebook and has an official webpage and translates many of its edicts into other languages than Arabic. -

Scholars of the Movarounahr region are the leaders in the study of hadiths, and the first reliable collection of hadiths is the Sahih of Imam Bukhari, written in the ninth century. The tradition of writing hadith collections continued in the twelfth century. In particular, the collection of hadiths "Nisab al-Akhbar" written by Fergana scholar Siraj al-din Ushi has collected valuable information about the field, especially about the teachers who learned hadith from them. This article is based on Siraj al-din Ushi's Nisab al-Akhbar and about his teachers. Key words: Hadith, fiqh, Nisab al-akhbar, hanafi, Ferghana, Semarkand, Bukhara, Fatawa al-sirajiyya. -

The Mystical Interpretation of Divine Love from The Perspective of al-Sulami’s Haqāiq al-Tafsīr Major of Qur‟anic Sciences And Its Interpretation, Ushuluddin Faculty, State Islamic University Syarif Hidayatullah , Jakarta, 2019. This study discusses the Quranic analysis of the word Maḥabbaḥ in al- Quran. This needs to be studied and requires some research because it has a general meaning, so it is worth analyzing. They know and understand Maḥabbaḥ in a limited way and for human needs only. Using a descriptive analytic method and Abū „Abd al-Rahmān al- Sulami's perspective on his own book, Haqāiq al-Tafsīr, this thesis answers how al-Sulami interprets the meaning of the Maḥabbaḥ in the Quran. Here, I apply the following step of analysis, determine basic and relational meaning, explain the development of the meaning of the Maḥabbaḥ through Sufism studies, and also discuss the state of the Maḥabbaḥ which he explained on his book " Majmū’at Ᾱtsar Abu ‘Abd al- Rahmān al-Sulamī.” This thesis finds that the Quran expresses the Maḥabbaḥ globally both to God and to humans. Some indications of the Quran suggest that the Maḥabbaḥ can arise because it begins with compassion and seeks to reach that love. -

PENDAHULUAN A. Latar Belakang Masalah Kajian yang berkaitan dengan hadith Nabi s.a.w merupakan suatu usaha yang tidak dapat dinafikan kepentingannya sama sekali. Ini disebabkan hadith Nabi s.a.w merupakan salah satu sumber utama lahirnya hukum yang menjadi wasilah „ubudiah seorang insan kepada Allah s.w.t. Dewasa ini umat Islam di seluruh dunia dan di Malaysia khususnya menunjukkan kecenderungan, keinginan dan kemahuan untuk kembali menjadikan syariat Islam sebagai penyuluh kepada seluruh gerak kerja aktiviti kehidupan mereka. Realiti ini dapat dilihat bukan sahaja bertambahnya penghayatan Islam dikalangan individu, tetapi juga dalam bidang pendidikan negara dari peringkat sekolah hingga ke universiti. Ini memberi harapan agar hadarah Islam dapat kembali menyinari kehidupan manusia sejagat. Walaupun begitu, perkembangan ini tidak akan bermakna sama sekali sekiranya ia tidak dibentuk berasaskan sumber pengambilan hukum yang sahih, yang mana al-quran dan al-hadith merupakan sumber hukum utama sebelum sumber-sumber hukum yang lain. Perlu dinyatakan disini bukan semua hadith yang diriwayatkan itu adalah sahih nasabnya kepada Nabi s.a.w. Pada masa yang sama, penulis merasakan kesedaran dan pendedahan tentang perkara ini kepada masyarakat pula masih ditahap yang minima. Fenomena ini dapat disaksikan dari sudut amalan masyarakat seperti berdoa, berzikir dan lain-lain ibadat yang berbentuk khusus, begitu juga buku-buku panduan ibadat yang dicetak, malahan ceramah-ceramah agama yang disiarkan melalui media elektronik juga tidak memberi penekanan yang serius tentang kepentingan menjadikan sandaran amalan ibadat berdasarkan kepada hadith yang sahih. Maka tidak hairanlah jika majoriti umat Islam di 1 negara kita begitu mudah mengamalkan amalan yang bersandarkan kepada riwayat yang da‟if, bahkan juga mawdu‟(palsu). -

Fundamentals of Tasawwuf Purification of the Soul Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani Preface In the Name of God, Most Merciful, Most Beneficent All praise to Allah Almighty who has created the universe from absolute nothingness; who has brought all creations into existence and illuminated them with His Light, adorning them with His Names and Attributes; and who reflects them in the mirror of His Reality. He has honored His special servants by letting them behold the splendor of His light; and by manifesting to them His abiding presence He has raised them to an exalted station. May Allah's blessing and greeting of peace be on our beloved Prophet Muammad (s), who is a Sun from the Unseen Light of the Divine Presence, who came forth and outshone the Light of the sun. As he perceived he informed, and as he discovered, he described. With his Light the Light of Prophecy pierced forth, and the lights of prophets thereby appeared. You cannot find among lights, one more luminous than his. Who can be brighter than the one who dawns forth on all creation? His fervor has preceded all fervors, his existence preceded Absolute Nothingness, and his name preceded the Pen, because he was before all that is. He is the Master of this creation. His name is Muammad (s). His Attribute is One. His word is confirmed. His attributes are most honored. O Wonder at his appearance, at his visions, at his greatness, at his fame, at his Light, at his Purity, at his Godliness, at his Power, at his Visions, at his Reality, at his Essence.
