© 2009 Copyright. Fig 1: Exemplos de placas de aviso inspiradas. • Signature Redacted for Privacy. Abstract Approved: Arol Sisson
AN ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS OF Daniel S. Petre-Miller for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education presented on April 8, 1991. Title: The Content Analysis of Low-Functioning Sex Offenders' Dreams Signature redacted for privacy. Abstract approved: arol Sisson The problem discussed in this research concerns the content of the dreams of low-functioning sex offenders and clinical applications of those dreams in the treatment of these offenders. The subjects of the research are five low-finctioning sex offenders in the Social Skills Program (SSP) of the Oregon Forensic Psychiatric Center (OFPC) at the Oregon State Hospital. A group of five high-functioning sex offenders from the Sex Offenders Program (SOP) at OFPC is used as a comparison. In the study, a low-functioning sex offender is defined as having a full scale intelligence quotient (FSIQ) of between 65 and 84. The high-functioning sex offender comparison group is defined by an FSIQ of 85 or above. The experimental method used is a case study design using qualitative methods. The subjects submitted dreams to the researcher to be analyzed using the content analysis of dreams method developed by Hall and Van de Castle (1966). The statistical analysis used is the Mann-Whitney U test for comparison between the groups: experimental (SSP), comparison (SOP), and the norms. The Kruskal-Wallis one-way ANOVA is used to compare the findings within the groups. The statistical findings indicate there are no significant differences at the .05 level between the groups on all the subscales except in the case of "Good Fortune." The "Good Fortune" subscale shows a significant difference between the experimental group (SSP) and the comparison group (SOP).

  • List of Paraphilias
List of paraphilias Paraphilias are sexual interests in objects, situations, or individuals that are atypical. The American Psychiatric Association, in its Paraphilia Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, Fifth Edition (DSM), draws a Specialty Psychiatry distinction between paraphilias (which it describes as atypical sexual interests) and paraphilic disorders (which additionally require the experience of distress or impairment in functioning).[1][2] Some paraphilias have more than one term to describe them, and some terms overlap with others. Paraphilias without DSM codes listed come under DSM 302.9, "Paraphilia NOS (Not Otherwise Specified)". In his 2008 book on sexual pathologies, Anil Aggrawal compiled a list of 547 terms describing paraphilic sexual interests. He cautioned, however, that "not all these paraphilias have necessarily been seen in clinical setups. This may not be because they do not exist, but because they are so innocuous they are never brought to the notice of clinicians or dismissed by them. Like allergies, sexual arousal may occur from anything under the sun, including the sun."[3] Most of the following names for paraphilias, constructed in the nineteenth and especially twentieth centuries from Greek and Latin roots (see List of medical roots, suffixes and prefixes), are used in medical contexts only. • Yes, No, Maybe Chart Instructions
Yes, No, Maybe Chart Instructions Instructions If Using With A Partner or Partners: 1. Print It: Print out one chart for each person who will be participating, plus one extra as a master list. (Feel free to add any sex acts I missed, or take out sex acts that don’t apply to your body.) 2. Fill It Out: Have each person fill out the chart (preferably alone) based upon their personal preferences. Check “Yes” if you would do this activity. Check “No” if you would not engage in the activity. Check “Maybe” if you would consider doing the activity, need more information about the activity, or are not completely opposed to the activity. BE HONEST. The whole point of this is to help express desires, and if you’re not honest, this exercise won’t be completely effective. 3. Make A Master List: Once forms are filled out, use the extra chart you printed out to compile a master list. Compare your charts and when your yes columns match up, put a mark in the “YES” column. When your no columns match up, put a mark in the “NO” column. When your maybe columns match up OR when your marks don’t match up, put a mark in pencil in the “MAYBE” column. 4. Negotiate: Discuss the acts in the “MAYBE” column. If you can come to an agreement in either direction, erase your mark in the “MAYBE” column, and place one in either the “YES” or “NO” column based on your decision. If an agreement can’t be reached, or if you’re still unsure, keep the mark in the “MAYBE” column.

  • Gender and SEXUALITY “DISORDERS” and Alexandre Baril and Kathryn Trevenen Sexuality University of Ottawa, Canada Abstract
Annual Review EXPLORING ABLEISM AND of Critical Psychology 11, 2014 CISNORMATIVITY IN THE CONCEPTUALIZATION OF IDENTITY Gender AND SEXUALITY “DISORDERS” and Alexandre Baril and Kathryn Trevenen Sexuality University of Ottawa, Canada Abstract This article explores different conceptualizations of, and debates about, Body Integrity Identity Disorder and Gender Identity Disorder to first examine how these “identity disorders” have been both linked to and distinguished from, the “sexual disorders” of apotemnophilia (the de- sire to amputate healthy limbs) and autogynephilia (the desire to per- ceive oneself as a woman). We argue that distinctions between identity disorders and sexual disorders or paraphilias reflect a troubling hier- archy in medical, social and political discourses between “legitimate” desires to transition or modify bodies (those based in identity claims) and “illegitimate” desires (those based in sexual desire or sexuality). This article secondly and more broadly explores how this hierarchy between “identity troubles” and paraphilias is rooted in a sex-negative, ableist, and cisnormative society, that makes it extremely difficult for activists, individuals, medical professionals, ethicists and anyone else, to conceptualize or understand the desires that some people express around transforming their bodies—whether the transformation relates to sex, gender or ability. We argue that instead of seeking to “explain” these desires in ways that further pathologize the people articulating them, we need to challenge the ableism and cisnormativity that require explanations for some bodies, subjectivities and desires while leaving dominant normative bodies and subjectivities intact. We thus end the article by exploring possibilities for forging connections between trans studies and critical disability studies that would open up options for listening and responding to the claims of transabled people.
