In their southern part, agricultural or vine- yard land use is very intensive for Slovene conditions, and the proportion of surface occupied by vineyards has remained almost the same since the first half of the 19th century. In contrast, northern part of Gori{ka brda has experienced intensive overgrowth. The proportion of forest today is more than 80% whereas dur- ing the period of the greatest extent of farmland it only covered 30%. The reason for this can be found primarily in changed social conditions.

A place that was yet-to-be-discovered, but which at the same time excellent wines were elaborated? A good choice for this would be Slovenia. The first thing would be to choose our destination airport. Another good thing about Venice is its airport, that for such a small town is served by a large number of airlines that come from almost anywhere in the world. Once there, the only thing left to do is rent a car and go to neighboring Slovenia. Our destination is just an hour and a half from the airport, following the A4 motorway in the direction of Trieste. Other arrival possibilities are the airport of Trieste or the farthest one of Ljubljana, although Venice is the one that enjoys better connections (and better prices as well). During our trip we will spend a few days in one of the four wine regions of this small country with just over two million inhabitants sharing borders with Austria, Italy, Hungary and Croatia. Though it is not widely known, Slovenia has a great wine tradition with a number of wineries exporting their wines all over the world. Primorska is the easternmost Denomination of Origin and it is divided into four areas: Vipavska Dolina (Vipava river valley), Kras, Slovenska Istra and Goriška Brda.

To je bilo povod za njegov prebeg v tedanjo Jugoslavijo, kjer je opravljal tudi zahtevne državne službe. Po drugi svetovni vojni 1941-1945 je bil upokojen in umrl v Ljubljani 14.7.1967.- Literarni vedi se utegne zdeti zamalo, da je pesnik takega kova, kot je Alojz Gradnik, postal plen etnologije in folkloristike, saj ju prav zaradi svoje izbranosti rada gleda postrani, ker se giblje le v visokih krogih literarnega ustvarjanja.

Pri tem predstavlja športni turizem prijetno dopolnilno dejavnost. Diplomsko delo je zastavljeno tako, da so najprej predstavljena teoretična izhodišča, ki širše zaobjamejo obravnavni problem. Bralcu so prikazani osnovni pojmi o turizmu, športnem turizmu, športni rekreaciji, prostem času. Temu sledi predstavitev razvoja turizma v Sloveniji od osamosvojitve dalje, kjer sta predstavljeni obe strategiji slovenskega turizma, ter organizacija turizma na regionalni in občinski ravni. Nato se obravnava vse bolj zoţuje; najprej Goriška brda v širšem smislu, kjer so bralcu predstavljeni začetki občine Brda, geografske, kulturno-zgodovinske in ekonomske značilnosti, kar bralcu pribliţa okolje, o katerem je govora.
