Sights to Visit Ushguli Community Bagrati Cathedral Gelati Monastery Nokalakevi Dadiani Palaces Historical Museum Samegrelo Ushba Itinerary DAY 1: ARRIVAL AT KUTAISI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT Arrival at Kutaisi International Airport. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Kutaisi. DAY 2: KUTAISI - PROMETHEUS CAVE - NOKALAKEVI - TSALENJIKHA - ENGURI DAM - MESTIA After breakfast at the hotel we start our tour. First, we drive to visit Prometheus Cave. Discovered in 1984, Prometheus cave is one of the biggest caves in Georgia. Here, we can take a walk along the 1.2 km long underground trail that is open for tourists. From Prometheus Cave we continue our trip to Nokalakevi village, famous for its archaeological site that consisting of the remnants of 4-6th c.c. fortress in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region of Georgia. After paying a visit to Nokalakevi museum-reserve, we continue driving to the north-west and make a stop at the Enguri hydroelectric dam, one of the tallest concrete arch dams in the world with a height of 271.5 m. From Enguri dam we continue our way to to northern region of Georgia - Svaneti. We arrive at Mestia – the administrative center of Svaneti Overnight in Mestia. DAY 3: MESTIA - USHGULI - MESTIA After breakfast at the hotel we leave for one of the most remote community in Europe – Ushguli. Ushguli is a community of four villages that is included in UNESCO World Heritage Sites list, as it is one of the highest continually inhabited places in Europe. We also take a walk towards Shkhara Glacier – the highest mountain in Georgia (5068 m). In the evening drive back to Mestia. Overnight in Mestia. DAY 4: MESTIA - ZUGDIDI - KUTAISI On day 4 after breakfast at the hotel we drive back towards Kutaisi. On the way we stop at Zugdidi -administrative center of Samegrelo region. During Zugdidi tour we visit Dadiani Palace and its History and Architectural Museum – the former residence of the Mingrelian dukes. The museum complex includes: palaces of the Samegrelo queen Ekaterine Chavchavadze-Dadiani and Prince Niko Dadiani, court church, and the botanical garden. Explore Kutaisi city and its surroundings and visit two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Gelati Academy and Monastery and Bagrati Cathedral. Gelati was built in 12th century, during the Georgian Golden Era, under the rule of King David IV, known as David the Builder, and it became a cultural and intellectual center for in middle ages. Named after King Bagrati III, Bagrati Cathedral was built in 11th century and presents a masterpiece of Georgian medieval church architecture. The cathedral stands on the hill at the heart of Kutaisi and is considered as a symbol of the city. Overnight in Kutaisi. DAY 5: DEPARTURE FROM KUTAISI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT Breakfast at the hotel.     WHO DOES WHAT WHERE IN DISASTER RISK REDUCTION IN GEORGIA Second edition March 2010 Georgian National Committee of Disaster Risk Reduction & Environment Sustainable Development FOREWORD Georgia is a highly disaster-prone country, which frequently experiences natural hazards (e.g. earthquakes, floods, landslides, mudflows, avalanches, and drought) as well as man-made emergencies (e.g. industrial accidents and traffic accidents). Compounding factors such as demographic change, unplanned urbanization, poorly maintained infrastructure, lax enforcement of safety standards, socio-economic inequities, epidemics, environmental degradation and climate variability amplify the frequency and intensity of disasters and call for a proactive and multi-hazard approach. Disaster risk reduction is a cross-cutting and complex development issue. It requires political and legal commitment, public understanding, scientific knowledge, careful development planning, responsible enforcement of policies and legislation, people-centred early warning systems, and effective disaster preparedness and response mechanisms. Close collaboration of policy-makers, scientists, urban planners, engineers, architects, development workers and civil society representatives is a precondition for adopting a comprehensive approach and inventing adequate solutions. Average width of gravel pavement is ≈6 m. Road corridor allows to arrange 2-line traffic, considering standard shoulders, although, at some sections, its widening will become necessary. Width of the corridor varies within the range of 6,5- 8,5 m. Arrangements for storm water drainage are required in the road section suggested for rehabilitation. This section includes 13 culverts of differing diameter and cross-section; 3 of them will be repaired and the rest are to be replaced. There are 3 bridges of various size and structure. Two bridges, on rivers Torchia and Papaskiri, will be repaired during the rehabilitation works. The proposed road section lacks relevant attributes of road equipment. There are no traffic signs and barriers. All safety and road signs will be replaced or new ones will be installed. Illumination poles are present in individual locations along the road section. Location is selected for the placement of the new bus stop according to the request of local population.

Detailed analysis concerning the issue has never been conducted before. The research has revealed that the Megrelian declarative sentence – simple, simple complicated and compound – begins with a low pitch and ends with falling intonation; some speakers start a declarative sentence with a high pitch but they end it with a falling intonation contour without any exception; even within a sentence, the members gradually fall and rise in tone depending on a speaker’s attitude, i.e. which part of speech they want to focus on. Emphasized parts of speech are outlined in a sentence this way. The results of the research are also important in terms of teaching Megrelian. The Megrelian declarative sentence is mainly characterized by LHL% intonation contour, though HL% intonation contour can also be found in rare cases.
