Tbilisi (B/L/-) Breakfast at the hotel. Tour of the historic part of the city, which begins with a visit to the Metekhi Temple, which is one of the most famous monuments in Tbilisi. This temple was honored in the 13th century, on the very edge of the stony shore of the Kura and the former fortress and residence of the Georgian kings. The first Georgian martyr, Queen Shushanika Ranskaya, was buried under the arches of the Metekhi temple. Inspection of the Tbilisi sulfur baths, which are built in the style of classical oriental architecture. These are low, squat buildings, covered with semicircular domes with large glass openings in the center, serving as windows that illuminate the interior, as the baths themselves are below ground level. In the old days, people here not only bathed, but also talked, lingering until dawn, and the city matchmakers arranged special days on special days. In the baths gave dinner parties, concluded trade deals. Walk on the square Maidan, which was the main shopping area of the city and along small streets known under the common name "Sharden". Narikala Fortress, which is the most ancient monument, a kind of "soul and heart of the city." The date of construction of the fortress is called approximately IV century AD, so it stands from the foundation of the city itself. Later, the fortress was expanded and completed several times.

Kardem is currently interested in looking closer at Georgia as a new investment and outsourcing markets. Contacts with Kardem Textile were established with assistance from EPI’s short-term consultant Selen Poyraz, Deloitte Consulting Istanbul Office. Kardem’s trip to Georgia was initiated, designed, organized, and implemented by EPI and the Georgian National Investment Agency (GNIA) after meeting the owner of Kardem Tekstil, Mr. Zeki Erdogan, at the 4th Istanbul Fashion and Apparel Conference in Turkey in May 2011. Western Georgian distribution in full swing In Western and Central Georgia, UNHCR estimates that there are between 20 000 and 25 000 persons in need of assistance. The first shipment of aid arrived on August 19 by plane to Batumi airport and after a swift transport to the warehouses, the distribution is already well on its way. Today the UNHCR team distributed non-food items for some 500 IDPs in the city of Senaki. These IDPs have been in the region already since 1992 – 1993 and are now facing a new catastrophe as their centres have been damaged by the bombings. The UNHCR team assessing the damages concluded that immediate reparations are needed to provide proper shelter before winter. At the same time, a coordination meeting was held in the city of Kutaisi which will serve as a distribution hub for the region. The meeting, assisted by the local authorities, IDP representatives and UNHCR, assessed the needs in the area and the distribution started immediately reaching close to the western border of South Ossetia, as close as the villages of Sachkhre and Chiatura. Furthermore, the urgently needed hygiene kits are being distributed by ICRC and NRC, upon request from UNHCR.
