ECAC EASTERN HOCKEY LEAGUE All-STARS ANNOUNCED Northeastern's Whitney, Niagara's Marchese-DelMonte, Pinelli, Bradburn, Page Honored

CAPE COD, Mass. - The 2001-02 ECAC Eastern Hockey League All-Star teams and award winners have been announced. Named to the first team were forwards and Brooke White of Northeastern and Niagara's Brooke Bradburn. At defense, Northeastern's Kim Greene and Providence's Kelli Halcisak. Tania Pinelli of Niagara was named the first-team goal­ tender. Whitney was also honored as the 2001-02 Eastern Hockey League Player of the Year. A Patty Kazmaier Award Finalist, Whitney tied for the league lead in scoring with 34 points coming on 21 goals and 13 assists in 21 league games. She also led the league in overall scoring with 31 goals and 24 assists for 55 points. Teresa Marchese-DelMonte of Niagara was named the league's Rookie of the Year. Marchese-DelMonte tied for the league lead in scoring among rookies with 23 points on 11 goals and 12 assists as well as tied for the league in overall rookie scoring with 36 points (16-20). Named the Goaltender of the Year was Niagara's Pinelli. Pinelli ranked first with a 1.22 goals against average and a 19-2- 0 (.905) league record and ranked second with a .942 save percentage. Overall, Pinelli posted a 1.43 goals against average, a .933 save percentage and a 26-6-1 (.803) record . Niagara's Margot Page was selected by her fellow coaches as the Coach of the Year. Page led the Purple Eagles to the ECAC Eastern Hockey League regular-season title with a 19-2-0 record. Heading into the ECAC Championship tournament this week­ end, Niagara is 26-6-1. In her fourth season at Niagara, Page led her team from an eighth-place finish last season to first place this year. Niagara's Brooke Bradburn was selected as the league's Special Recognition Award winner, which recognizes a player that demonstrates leadership and commitment both on and off the ice. Bradburn, senior from Brampton, , has exemplified and demonstrated excell ence on and off the ice. A two-sport student-athlete at Niagara, Bradburn is an education mC!ior who volunteers as a Special Education teacher in a local school. Throughout her career, Bradburn has had to overcome great phys­ ical adversity but she has continued to rank among the team's scoring leaders. The annual awards banquet will be held Thursday, March 14 on the campus of the University of Connecticut.
