August 2015 1 VISITOR‘S GUIDE WELCOME OF OUR PRESIDENT Dear Visitor, Welcome to University of Applied Sciences Landshut(Hochschule Landshut). We are a campus-based university on the outskirts of the beautiful city of Landshut, which is renowned far beyond its bor- ders for the Church of St. Martin, Trausnitz Castle and the so-called “Landshut Wedding“, a medieval festival held every four years. Studies at Hochschule Landshut involve lectures and seminars in a familial atmosphere with excellent support. In addition to study opportunities, the campus is home to a wide range of clubs and organisations, which are open to everybody, as well as a plethora of sport and leisure activities, cultural events and student festivals. Having an international orientation is more than just a slogan at Hochschule Landshut. The university maintains contacts to some 45 foreign universities both within Europe and beyond. Students from all over the world come to Landshut to complete one of our comprehensive ranges of bachelor‘s and master‘s degree cour- ses. It is important for us to ensure that our visiting students and lecturers take advantage of our widespread language provision and leave Landshut with a good grasp of the German language. We wish to make your stay in the city of Landshut and at the university as pleasant as possible. To this end we provide you with a number of different departments and points of contact. This „Visitor‘s Guide“ will give you an initial overview of the university‘s activities, but also of organisational things that you may require for daily life here. Yours faithfully, Prof. Dr. Karl Stoffel President of Hochschule Landshut Hochschule Landshut | VISITOR‘S GUIDE 2 VISITOR‘S GUIDE ABOUT HOCHSCHULE LANDSHUT GENERAL INFORMATION Teaching and learning, research and development, as well as cont- inuing education and lifelong learning have defi ned the work of the University of Applied Sciences Landshut since its founding in 1978. The six faculties of Business Administration, Electrical and Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Social Work and General Studies (from summer semester 2016) offer more than 35 degree programmes. Over 5,000 students benefi t from the applied skills of our instructors, their individual supervision and our modern facilities. A fi rst-class library with 24-hour access, a computer centre and well-equipped technical laboratories provide a perfect learning environment. Hochschule Landshut places great value and importance on an international outlook. Incoming students can improve their German language skills at the university’s language centre. There are nume- rous partnerships with universities around the world and internatio- nal corporations. The university works closely with business and social institutions and is actively involved in numerous research and development projects. These address issues in the social sciences, as well as specialist topics in engineering, computer or business sciences. The university’s cooperation projects help to support the regional economy. This bus runs hourly. Get off at “Altstadt”, the city centre of Landshut (the bus stops right in front of McDonald‘s). There take bus No. 3 direction “Auloh” straight to Hochschule Landshut (bus stop “Hochschule”). Auch wenn wir von unserem „normalen“ Leben, noch ein Stück weit entfernt sind, so sollten wir uns gerade deswegen auf die kommenden schönen Momente konzentrieren. Zwei große Projekte die vom Gemeinderat und der Verwaltung im letzten Jahr vorbereitet wurden, starten nun in ihre Ausführung. Zum einen wäre dies die Erschließung des Baugebietes in Haunwang sowie zum anderen die Modernisierung der Kläranlage in der Wei- xerau. Neben vielen kleineren Vorhaben steht auch die Fortführung der Planung des neuen Feuerwehrgerätehauses und des Bauhofes auf der Agenda. Die Vorhaben werden die Verwaltung das ganze Jahr beschäftigen und zudem wollen neue Ideen umgesetzt werden, die unsere Gemeinde weiterentwickeln. 50 Jahre ist der bedeutungsvolle Zusammenschluss der fünf Altgemeinden zu der neuen Großgemeinde Eching nun her. Wie viele Gespräche geführt und Hürden damals genommen werden mussten, kann man heute nur noch erahnen. Vieles hat sich getan bis heute, viele Veränderungen haben sich ergeben, aber eines ist heute genauso wichtig wie damals - starke Ideen zu entwickeln und der Mut diese umzusetzen. Und den Mut und die neuen Ideen brauchen wir auch jetzt in dieser außergewöhnlichen Zeit um unser Miteinander auch weiterhin lebenswert zu gestalten.

Around 1,250 cars of the BMW 3 Series, 4 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series, 7 Series and 8 Series roll off the assembly lines every day. In total, almost 285,000 vehicles were built at the plant in 2019. Home of BMW’s large model series. Dingolfing is traditionally known as the production site for BMW’s large model series. Since the early 1970s, every generation of the BMW 5, 6 and 7 Series has been built here, including the respective M and Individual variants. The new BMW 7 Series Sedan, the brand’s flagship and innovation driver, is also “made in Dingolfing”.
