In the framework of the research program of the Hungarian Natural History Museum ”Invertebrate faunistical investigation of Sălaj county”, numerous molluscs (87 species) were collected in 2014-2015. Compared to other parts of the Carpathians, the mollusc fauna of Sălaj county is relatively poor - after this investigations this number is increased to 114 species - considering either the total species richness or the number of taxa. In the list I enumerate the results of recent collections, adding and also comparing with the results by Domokos and Lennert, 2009 in connection the area of judetul Sălaj /Szilágyság. From faunistical and conservation point the most important results are species of Acicula perpusilla, Agardhiella lamellosa, Drobacia banatica, Unio crassus, Vertigo angustior, Vertigo moulinsiana and Vertigo substriata. thing worth mentioning. The most important outcome of this study was the discovery of a new Bythinella species: Bythinella gregoi GLÖER & ERŐSS and Alzoniella (?) species which is a new species and genus for Romania. The other important finding a very big empty shell of Mastus bielzi which could be a new subspecies. Virpazaria Gittenberger, 1969 is distributed in the Balkan Peninsula (Albania, Montenegro and Croatia) and inhabits the shallow subterranean habitat (MSS) on limestone base rock. Reviewing historical and recently collected material, two species, Virpazaria (Virpazaria) gittenbergeri Fehér & Erőss sp. nov. and Virpazaria (Virpazaria) pesici Fehér & Deli sp. nov., are introduced as new to science. The conservation status of the new species are assessed using IUCN criteria. Two taxa, Virpazaria (Virpazaria) pageti alexanderi Reischütz & Subai, 2012 and Virpazaria (Aemiliella) ripkeni pastorpueri Reischütz et al., 2011, are synonymized with their nominate subspecies. -

Zukünftige Kartierungen werden nach den Erfahrungen der Autoren bis auf wenige Ausnahmen einen erschütternden Zustand der Biotope dieser Tiergruppe aufzeigen. „Mit dem Ausscheiden von R. STURANY (gest. 1935) aus dem aktiven Dienst beendete die offizielle Malakologie ihre Beteiligung an der Vermehrung unseres Wissens über die Weichtiere Österreichs, die bis auf weiteres fast ausschließlich von Privatpersonen getragen wurde“ (W. KLEMM in einem Gespräch mit dem Seniorautor im Dezember 1973). Während unserer Arbeiten über die Mollusken Österreichs machte sich immer wieder das Fehlen einer brauchbaren Bibliographie bemerkbar, obwohl in FRAUENFELD 1855, STURANY 1900, KLEMM 1960 und 1974, FRANK 1976 und anderen zahlreiche Literaturzitate angeführt sind. Die Überprüfung aller bis dahin zitierten Arbeiten erwies sich als notwendig, weil immer wieder Arbeiten ohne Bezug zu Österreich - oft marine Literatur und häufig auch Arbeiten über andere Tiergruppen (Insekten, Krebse, Würmer, ...) - in den Molluskenbibliographien zitiert und nicht überprüft oder falsch abgeschrieben wurden. Dadurch kam es zu langen Verzögerungen durch erhöhten zeitlichen Aufwand. -

State of Conservation Report by The
Report of the State Party on the State of Conservation of the World Heritage Property Inscribed on the World Heritage List Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and the Ancient Beech Forests of Germany (Slovakia N 1133bis) The Slovak Republic appreciates that the property "Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and the Ancient Beech Forests of Germany" has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Through the competent government ministries and their competences, the Slovak Republic resolves the issues identified in Decision no. 39 COM 7B.19 of the World Heritage Committee, adopted at its 39th session in Bonn, and expresses its interest in keeping the property inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. 1. Executive summary of the report The Slovak part of the UNESCO World Heritage Property was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2007 under the name “Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians” as a bilateral Slovak and Ukrainian property. In 2011, after the extension by additional components in Germany, it became part of the trilateral property "Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and the Ancient Beech Forests of Germany". At the level of the State, the Slovak part of the property is covered by the Ministry of Environment of the Slovak Republic, and in compliance with the valid legislation, the expert organisation of the Ministry the State Nature Conservancy of the Slovak Republic is responsible for management and protection. In connection with the issues in the territory of the Slovak part of the property identified in Decision of the World Heritage Committee 39 COM 7B.19 and based on the recommendations resulting from the conclusions of the IUCN UNESCO reactive monitoring mission, which took place on 29 September to 3 October 2014, the Member State Slovakia organised an advisory mission in the territory of the Slovak part of the property. -

Vol. 8(4): 249–256 MALACOCENOSES OF THE VALLEY OF THE STREAM PIENIÑSKI POTOK, PIENINY NATIONAL PARK KRYSTYNA SZYBIAK Department of General Zoology, Adam Mickiewicz University, Fredry 10, 61-701 Poznañ, Poland ABSTRACT: Land gastropod fauna of the valley of Pieniñski Potok, tributary to the Dunajec River, was studied qualitatively and quantitatively in 1995–1998. Among plant communities Carpathian beech forest dominates. Forty nine species (42 in quantitative samples) of 16 families were recorded, Clausiliidae, Zonitidae and Helicidae being the most numerously represented. The density ranged from 106 to 253 individuals per m2, the dominants being Vestia gulo (Bielz), Macrogastra ventricosa (Drap.), subdominants Balea biplicata (Mont.) and Vitrea diaphana (Studer); dominants among litter species being Vitrea diaphana, Aegopinella pura (Alder) and Carychium tridentatum (Risso). These species are the most typical and indicative of the malacocenosis of the Carpathian beech forest. The malacocenosis is multicomponent, polymictic (TDI = 0.93). Simpson’s diversity index is high (I = 0.065). Vol. 15(2): 59–64 RUTHENICA FILOGRANA (ROSSMÄSSLER, 1836) (GASTROPODA: PULMONATA: CLAUSILIIDAE) IN MALACOCOENOSES OF DECIDUOUS FORESTS IN VARIOUS REGIONS OF POLAND KRYSTYNA SZYBIAK, JERZY B£OSZYK, EL¯BIETA KORALEWSKA-BATURA Department of General Zoology, Institute of Environmental Biology, Collegium Biologicum, Adam Mickiewicz University, Umultowska 89, 61-614 Poznañ, Poland (e-mail: [email protected]) ABSTRACT: Malacocoenoses containing Ruthenica filograna (Rossm.), a forest-dwelling clausiliid, were studied in two localities in Poland: the nature reserve Dêbno nad Wart¹ (Wielkopolska region) and the Valley of Pieniñski Potok (Pieniny Mts). The malacocoenoses were composed of 20 and 42 species, respectively. In Dêbno nad Wart¹ R. filograna was the most frequent and abundant species; in the Valley of Pieniñski Potok the most frequent and abundant species was Vitrea diaphana. The structure of the two communities differed also in other respects. The gastropod density in the two localities was similar (168 and 185 individuals · m–2, respec- tively), but their species composition was not, with only six species in common (Nei index 0.22). UEBER ARGNA UND AGARDHIELLA Die Gattung Argna Cossmann, 1889, wird von Zilch (1959: 171- 172) in Argna s.str. und Agardhiella Hesse, 1923, aufgeteilt; die Typus- arten beider Taxa werden dabei abgebildet (Zilch, Abb. 590, 591). Die gleiche Unterteilung findet man bei Grossu & Negrea (1968); die Untergattung Argna s.str. wird von diesen Autoren allerdings, den InternationalenRegeln für die Zoologische Nomenklatur, Artikel 44(a), bezeichnet. weitere zuwider, als Agardhia Gude, 1911, Für nomen- klatorische Angaben sei auf Zilch (1959: 171-172) verwiesen. Der Bau des Genitalapparates konnte bei der erwähnten Einteilung in Untergattungen keine Rolle spielen, weil die Anatomie von Agar- dhiellabis jetzt völlig unbekannt blieb. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird die auf Grund von neuen, vor allem anatomischen, Untersuchungen Auffassung verteidigt, dass es sich bei Argna und Agardhiella um zwei selbständige Gattungen handelt. Die Vertreter von Argna und Agardhiella sind einander hauptsächlich im Gehäusehabitus ähnlich. Die kleinen Gehäuse (Höhe: 3,3-5,5 mm) sind schlank zylindrisch mit sehr stumpfem Apex. Die Gehäuse- mündung ist mehr oder weniger stark gezahnt. Bei Argna kommen zwei bis vier Palatalfalten vor, welche den Mündungsrand nicht erreichen.
