SOLO Automatic Front & Back Counterbore and Spotfacing Tool • No Anti-rotation device or stop block are required • Suitable for all CNC, transfer, dial and multi-spindle machines • Easy handling, Quick-change blade system, Modular Set-up • Excellent ratio of price and performance Cat. No. HTC019 Introduction SOLO Series CatalogHTC019 No. HTC14 COFA COFA As a worldwide leader in tool development, HEULE introduces SOLO, an easy-to-use front and back spotfacing and formsinking tool. The SOLO tool functions reliably without an anti-rotation device, l COFA-C COFA-C change of spindle rotation, coolant pressure or contact mechanism. The SOLO tool is immediately ready for operation on any machine (CNC, transfer, multi-spindle or conventional machine). The completely closed tool design (tool head) prevents any coolant contamination. In addition, the l SNAP SNAP pin-driven cutting blade, which moves in and out radially, prevents chips from jamming the system. Simple to Use l Each SOLO Tool is modular and comes with quick change cutting blades that can be changed without removing VEX-S the tool from the machine. A common tool head can accommodate any configuration of pilot housings and cutting blade configurations. l VEX-P l COMBI l DEFA Tool Head Control Housing Blade l GH-K Strong Durable Design l The nature of back counterboring tends to be an unstable and difficult operation due to the large chip force and BSF small pilot hole to counterbore size. Heule tools have proven to be the strongest automatic back boring tool on the market able to cut the most difficult materials and counterbore geometry. Our tools cut on center and are designed to use the maximum pilot size allowed; this helps guarantee stability even in deep hole applications. Experience with SOLO difficult applications demonstrates that our unique cutting blade geometry far surpasses other back counterbore tools in strength and reliability. Unlike the flip-out back boring systems, HEULE’s patented GH-Z/E pin-drive system activates the cutting blade radially, which prevents chips from interfering with the tool’s operation. Keyed blades with no sharp corners and smooth transitions add strength to both the housing and the cutting blade. 222 513.860.9900 www.heuletool.com Introduction SOLO Series Catalog No.HTC019 HTC014 COFA COFA How Does It Work? There are two different models of the SOLO tool, the SOLO 1900 and the SOLO 2. Each tool is capable of reaching counterbore sizes two times the bore diameter minus 1mm. Possible applications up to 30mm through l hole. (Max ratio = Ødx2 - 1mm). COFA-C The SOLO 1900 uses two centrifugal weights installed in a sealed tool head. With an activation speed rate of 1900 rpm, the weights start moving outwards and turn the gearwheel. The gearwheel drives the blade out by rotating the blade control. When the spindle is stopped, a pull back spring pushes the centrifugal weights back to the center and retracts the blades. l SNAP SNAP The SOLO 2 uses similar parts, but works in the opposite way. With an activation speed rate of 2000 rpm or higher, the blades retract when the centrifugal weights move. When the spindle rotation is below 1500 RPM, the weights are pushed back to the center and the blade is fixed in the cutting position. Optional: SOLO S2, a larger SOLO l head (blue ring) may be used for bores larger than approximately 22mm, contact HEULE. Standard TOOL HEAD with integral shank COFA-C 2. Custom Components, Cutting BLADE (or Cartridge with indexable insert), HOUSING, and CONTROL. 1) TOOL HEAD - This tool head is of standard design and is the base element for all applications with bore diameters 8 to 30mm. 2) Special Components - Housing pilots, control mechanism and cutting blades are optimized per the desired back bore application and are Design & Build items to suit the needs of our customers. HEULE will always manufacture the strongest l tool possible and stand behind the quality of our product. Simply submit the SOLO DATA SHEET (pg 238) with your application SNAP SNAP information for our engineering team to review. With each order, approval prints will be supplied to the end user within one week of order. l SOLO Tooling Multi-Operations VEX-S The SOLO Tooling system is completely customizable and can be engineered to create multiple features in one tool. Options include indexable inserts, form countersinks and more. All tooling has the capability of through spindle coolant (up to 30 BAR). The coolant holes come from the center of the shank and are diverted through the outer jacket back through the housing to the blade window. For l extreme ratios or small housing diameters (typically below 10mm) through coolant to the housing, not the blade is possible. Other VEX-P options include integral shanks, extra long reach and cartridge style (above hole Ø22mm). l COMBI l DEFA l GH-K l BSF SOLO GH-Z/E 513-860-9900 www.heuletool.com 225 Programming Information SOLO 1900Series CatalogHTC019 No. HTC14 COFA COFA SOLO 1900 (Black Ring) Programming Information Attention: Pay attention to the speed rate of your tool head.
