1 BUSINESS/COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS

LOUDOUN GOVERNOR’S CAREER AND TECHNICAL ACADEMY In response to the growing workforce shortage in the health care industry, a unique partnership was created with Claude Moore Charitable Foundation, Inova Health System, and Loudoun County Public Schools to develop the Claude Moore Healthcare Academies within the Loudoun Governor’s Career and Technical Academy. This three-year high school program provides students with an opportunity to earn dual enrollment college credits in the following health sciences pathways:  Medical laboratory technology  Pharmacy technology  Practical nursing  Radiologic technology

This program is made possible through an estimated $3,000,000 investment from the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation. The Foundation provided funding for the initial development of the program and a new state-of-the art training facility housed at the Cornwall Medical Pavilion. This training facility consists of four instructional classrooms and a laboratory that replicates hospital facilities and includes radiology equipment, pharmacy dispensing equipment, and a typical hospital room complete with anatomic mannequins. The new Claude Moore Academies classrooms were dedicated on March 22, 2011. Go to http://cmsweb1.lcps.org/loudoun/cwp/view.asp?A=3&Q=715718 for further information and dedication ceremony pictures.
