Jakarta heritage, Kampung Tugu drs Dirk Teeuwen MSc 1. Front of Tugu Church, 2006 Kampung Tugu is located south from Tanjung Priok Port in the Dustrict of Cilincing Jakarta, formerly Batavia. The Dutch founded modern Jakarta in 1619, named it Batavia on March 13th , 1619. Tugu Village is a community of Portuguese descendents. Because they were, or became, of mixed blood, the Dutch called them “Black-Portuguese”. These Portuguese were taken prisoner of war in India, Malaysia and Ceylon, now Sri Lanka, during the seventeenth and eighteenth century. At first they were kept as slaves by the Dutch. But - after accepting the Christian protestant faith and after expressing their loyalty to the Dutch government - they could become free citizens. Dirk Teeuwen, Holland 1 Like I said, after doing so they got their merdeka, which means freedom. Because of that those Black Portuguese were also called “Mardijkers”, free people. A corruption of this Bahasa Indonesia word “merdeka”. The Mardijkers were not the only prisoners of war category in those days in and around Batavia. The Dutch took prisoner “black Spaniards” from the Philipines, from districts north from Manilla. They served mostly as soldiers, so-called Papangers, in the army of the Dutch East-Indian Company and specially as soldiers, encamped in the Company’s Batavia Castle (demolished about 1800, the castle I mean). After 1800, until 1907, Papangers served as ceremonial military guards in front of the Amsterdam Gate. This gate was only castle gate left from the olden days. Papangers merged more with the Batavian population than Mardijkers did. 2. -

The Role of Students in Religious Tourism Development in DKI Jakarta Sari Narulita, Embang Syasyadin Jakarta State University [email protected] ABSTRACT Recent data from the Ministry of Tourism show interest in religious tourism visits in Indonesia which reaches 12% of total tourist visits. Religious tourism is generally synonymous with a visit to a mystical tomb. This article tries to reveal the role of students in religious tourism development based on the aspect of rationality. In addition to descriptive data, interviews, and observations with students who can optimize their religious tourism visits, especially pilgrimage tourism in DKI Jakarta enriched this article. Keywords: Student, Religious Tourism, Pilgrimage Tourism INTRODUCTION In Indonesia, the tourism industry is a medium of economic development that does not require too much investment in the long run before it can provide benefits. In the next few years, it is predicted that the Tourism Industry in Indonesia will bring the country's number one source of revenue compared to other fields. The tourism sector has a critical role in supporting the realization of the tourism industry, which can reduce the poverty level because of its characteristic as follows, 1. Consumers come to the destination to open opportunities for local people to market a variety of commodities and services 2. Opens opportunities for efforts to diversify the local economy that can touch marginal areas 3. Opens opportunities for small and medium-sized labor-intensive enterprises reached by the poor; and 4. Not only depends on capital but also depends on cultural capital and cultural capital and natural capital which are often assets owned by the poor. -

Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan historis dan pendekatan kebudayaan. Pendekatan historis digunakan untuk mengkaji sejarah berdirinya dan berkembangnya Masjid Agung Baiturrahman Banyuwangi. Sedangkan pendekatan kebudayaan digunakan untuk mengungkap seni arsitektur yang ada di Masjid Agung baiturrahman. Adapun teori yang digunakan adalah teori tahapan pemikiran Ibn Khaldun. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode sejarah yang memiliki beberapa tahapan, antara lain heuristik, kritik sumber, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa 1) Masjid Agung Baiturrahman Banyuwangi berdiri pada tahun 1773. Didirikan oleh Mas Alit yang saat itu tengah menjabat sebagai Bupati terakhir Blambangan dan Bupati pertama Banyuwangi. 2) perkembangan arsitekturnya -

Every year, Muslims in Indonesia will celebrate the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. However, there are some Islamic social organizations in Indonesia which did not conform with the commencement of Ramadan and Eid celebrations as occured in 2010, 2011 and 2015. The question is, what is the role of Ministry of Religious Affairs to ensure conformity in celebrating month of worships in Indonesia? Based on authority given to it, what efforts have been done to achieve uniformity among Muslims in celebrating months of worship in Indonesia? This paper was written to unravel on issues related to this matter. There are two main objectives. First, to identify practice procedure by Ministry of Religious Affairs in coordinating the commencement of Ramadan and Eid celebrations. Second, to analyze the role and exert efforts in trying to gain uniformity in determining the beginning of Ramadan and Eid celebrations. -

Muhammadiyah Aceh, Kota Banda Aceh, Provinsi Aceh *Email: [email protected] Abstrak Masjid sebagai tempat ibadah merupakan perwujudan proses budaya di suatu daerah. Perkembangan arsitektur mesjid adalah pencerminan dari perkembangan dinamika sosial masyarakat sekitar serta peran Masjid Raya Baiturrahman sebagai landmark Kota Banda Aceh terhadap perkembangan bentuk masjid. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari tipologi bentuk arsitektur masjid yang ada di Kota Banda Aceh yang dapat membedakannya dari masjid di daerah lain. Menggunakan paradigma rasionalistik dengan metode penelitian kualitatif serta pengambilan kasus secara purposive (sengaja, bertujuan), dengan pertimbangan spirit of place dan spatial form analysis. Batasan penelitian adalah tipe masjid agung/besar/jami di tingkat kecamatan. Bentuk yang tetap (fixed) adalah ekspose pintu gerbang(gate), menggunakan atap kubah (dome) dominasi bentuk bawang, mempunyai menara, fasade depan simetris, mempunyai teras, bentuk denah cenderung persegi panjang, ruang dalam terdiri dari susunan kolom-kolom, bentuk kolom adalah lingkaran yang mempunyai susunan kepala-badan-kaki dan ruang mihrab diapit oleh tiang kolom serta ornamen adalah kaligrafi. Sedangkan bentuk yang berubah sama sekali (non fixed) adalah jumlah dan bentuk menara yang bervariasi, penggunaan balkon dibawah jendela, sudah mulai tidak ada arcade dan pedimen, fungsi dinding, dan tidak menggunakan drainase pada kaki tangga, munculnya dinding keramik bermotif sebagai pengganti motif flora dan geometris serta kembali digunakan penunjuk waktu (jam) pada fasade( masjid Al-Muttaqien Peunayong). Krontjong Toegoe in Tugu Village: Generic Form of Indonesian Keroncong Music1 by Victor Ganap Abstract Keroncong music today has been considered as one of the Indonesian musical mainstreams, but the historical background of how the music emerged remains a mystery. The only keroncong known from the past is Krontjong Toegoe, developed in Tugu village since the seventeenth century as a hybrid genre of Portuguese sojourn. This article aims to discuss the musical style of Krontjong Toegoe and the origin of its supporting community in Tugu village north of Jakarta. While Krontjong Toegoe is still alive up to now, its historical relationships to the sixteenth century Portuguese music and to the Indonesian keroncong music today are of important and interesting discourse. Introduction So far there were very few articles on keroncong music that have been written by musicologists, and this article opens the discussion by quoting their opinions, which are of important points in reviewing the position and legitimacy of keroncong music. In the following discourse, Australian musicologist Bronia Kornhauser was among few scholars who have visited and conducted field research in Tugu village (kampung) in 1973. Her essay entitled In Defence of Kroncong has been an important source and widely quoted in today keroncong publications. After her visit to the village, she admitted that Krontjong Toegoe played by the Tugu musicians which lasted for more than three centuries have been an important evidence to the investigation on Portuguese musical legacy in Indonesia. Tugu holds a unique place in the history of kroncong. It is living proof of the Portugis- Indonesian heritage of this music. -

Keroncong Tugu merupakan warisan musik tradisi Kampung Tugu yang masih dipertahankan oleh orang-orang Tugu. Keroncong Tugu disebut mendapat pengaruh dari Portugis karena orang-orang Tugu dipercaya merupakan tawanan Portugis yang dibebaskan oleh Belanda. Salah satu kelompok keroncong Kampung Tugu adalah Keroncong Tugu Cafrinho. Keroncong Tugu Cafrinho dipimpin Guido Quiko sejak Tahun 2006 menggantikan ayahnya. Selama pimpinan Guido, perkembangan Keroncong Tugu semakin signifikan karena perhatiannya terhadap keroncong cukup besar. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) Untuk mendeskripsikan sejarah latar belakang munculnya Keroncong Tugu Cafrinho; (2) Untuk mendeskripsikan perkembangan paguyuban Keroncong Tugu Cafrinho pada Tahun 2006-2019; (3) Untuk menganalisis posisi musik keroncong Tugu dalam belantika musik di Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan dalam penulisan ini adalah metode sejarah, terdiri dari heuristik, kritik sumber, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Sumber-sumber yang digunakan yaitu narasumber, koleksi pribadi (foto/dokumentasi), piagam, peninggalan alat musik macina, buku dan sumber relevan lainnya. Hasil penelitian ialah latar belakang munculnya keroncong di Kampung Tugu berawal dari permainan musik yang diciptakan untuk hiburan. Dalam perkembangannya, musik tersebut mulai dikenal masyarakat luas dengan sebutan Keroncong Tugu. Keroncong Tugu mengalami peningkatan dimulai dari pimpinan Samuel Quiko dan berkembang semakin signifikan pada masa Guido Quiko. -
